I've been a Leafs fan for more than 50 years, not always an easy thing to be. However I've also admired Jean Beliveau for that same period of time. All of those adjectives...classy, elegant...certainly describe who he was and even since his passing, continues to be. One thing I've always said about the Montreal Canadiens organization is that they know how to pay tribute to their own. From what I understand, the seat next to Jean's widow will remain vacant indefinitely. I believe I can say with relative certainty that you will never see the likes of this gentleman again, on or off the ice. Thank you for posting this tribute.

Yes, I think that's true. I'm sure there is a mutual respect for the talent that is and was on both teams, especially in the pre-1967 expansion era. I enjoyed that time in the NHL, particularly because I could fit all of my bubble gum cards in my pocket. Now with so many teams, I would need a suitcase! As I mentioned, the Canadiens do a wonderful job of acknowledging their alumni. The Leafs have made recent attempts to do so but they still have a long way to go before they find themselves in the same "league" as Montreal. The Canadiens are definitely the role model team in that respect.

It is nice to see the mutual respect and admiration between these players from the "Original Six" hockey teams. They all knew one another, many of them hosted their opponents when "in town", it was a small family. Most of the "big guys" (the top performers) were also very fair and honest players - they had a job to do, a family to feed and respected one another. Great video, thank you, Ciao, L

20 year player career with 10 Stanley cups and he added an extra 7 as from a management position. While his individual accomplishments are impressive, his true strength was being a team player and leader. The best captain and team representative you can wish for.
