@@RawbeardX Eh.. i'm still on chapter 3 but it's not that bad. The writing is far from what i'd call good but maybe that's just the localization that did a poor job with it but i'm still enjoying the story.

One of the best well written and overall character yet in the story. That's just show even it meant his end, he keep stay fighting even against the very fate itself.
He never back away, turn around, nor betray his own beliefs. But he finally believe that the new heir will be a good one and ensure the better of the future.
Pretty much same case for his adopted daughter.
Chapter 8 makes me confuses about Patriot.
Is he fighting Ursus to save the infected suffered by them or is he saving the infected to fight Ursus?
Its true that the infected he saved are trained by him later as guerilla force to fight against Ursus, albeit in small skirmish to obtain resources in order to survive in the tundra.
@@neardarkroad1347 Both. Ursus itself is hunting them down so the first and latter part is unavoidable and also to became independent on their own too.
He betrayed himself for the very last time when he spared Amiya. Based on his beliefs, he would have killed her right then and there, to take matters to his own hands and reject the prophecy, reject fate, as he's always done in the past. But he didn't, he did what Yelena (Frostnova) did to Talulah, believe in her, believe that she won't become Kashchey. Buldrokkas'tee believed in Amiya, believed in the Cautus, that she will not become the prophesized disaster of Terra.
@@milkcarton7064 The funny thing is... It's by believing in Amiya that Patriot really broke is fate. He was a puppet at the hands of a prophecy and the way he try to reject it is just self-fulling it. You can't change fate if you want control, the only way to change fate is to let go of it.

- Become the last of his kind (Wendigo)
- His wife, son and daughter died
- He always yearn for his birthplace (Kazdel) and his hometown (Ursus) , though can't come back again
- Betray his own idea thrice (betray Kazdel, Ursus, then Reunion)
- He truly hate and always fight fate, ironically in the end he is dead because fate itself (prophecy about the last Sarkaz killed by Lord of Fiends)
Not really about the fate part. Patriot just gave up & died while standing, Oripathy killed him not Amiya, he just kicked fate in the balls for doing that.

He could have, but he hesitated and stopped right before he died, fighting against his fate by not killing the demon lord or whatever Amiya is called (sorry, I don't play on global server)

Absolute banger and melody of tragic russian folk song.
And since Tragedy is one of the most fundamental essences of a successful, masterpiece of a story.
Arknights surely knows how to write a tragedy filled with parables, poetry and emotional turmoils that connect the player using a VN storytelling method.
Especially Patriot's story, in which he has the least amount of haters despite not being a sexy 2D waifu or sexy 2D black man like Thorns...
AND,
make perfectly compatible EPs about such masterpiecess.
So, i got a little emotional and decided to talk about Patriot, the tragic soul of Terra.
Patriot is a complex character.
A mixture of Nietzsche's Apollonian and Dionysian interplays in the Birth of Tragedy, that Patriot's chapter was inspired after.
He was the last pure-blooded Wendigo, he lost his son, wife, daughter in front of his OWN eyes, lost and betrayed Kazdel and Ursus, and betrayed his comrades, he had nowhere to go...
His last hope was saving the infected along side his beloved Yelena.
As his infection grew worse and worse bt the day... His fixation and stubbornness grew exponentially.
His unrealized ideals, ideas, and beloveds...
Were rejected by the charlatan playwright called 'fate'.
He tried time and time again to defy prophecies especially the one about his doom...
Only for him to fall anyway on the hands of Amiya.
He was an old man who lost everything, again and again.
Everything in front of his eyes...
He was played by fate time and time again... Till his last breath.
Although his very last words and actions were the ultimatum against fate; he chose to keep Amiya alive. He chose to change his opinion. He changed to stay STILL. And leave standing like a mountain.
It was the height of rebellion.
The only time he succeeded in doing something he wanted truly.
Alas...

Above all, Requiem matches this with its
Absolute masterpiece of a melody.
So utterly serenading,
Screeching tranquility and tragedy
Touches the realm of the nostalgic, dreamlike reality of one's mind,
Connects emotions together and morphs them into a mesmerising anthem of tragedy and empathy for Patriot and AshNova.
Now, as i said, this song is heavily correlated to old russian folk songs, which adds more depth to it knowing what Russia was in the past, such Ursus empire being the Russian empire and co.
All in all, i would give this masterpiece a 10/10, for even still making me sad, emotional even after like 8 months of reading Patriot story and Arc 1.
This isn't a folk song - the lyrics are taken from a very long poem of the same name, by Anna Akhmatova, about the anguish she suffered when her son was imprisoned in a real-life Soviet gulag

Just want to add that the singer actually says ‘понял´ (ponyal) instead of ´поняла´ (ponyala) and ´должен´ (dolzhen) instead of ´должна´ (dolzhna). The poem was written by a woman so I think they just copied it but she uses feminine instead of masculine, the singer uses masculine. Just pointing it out if anyones confused.❤
как носитель русского языка скажу - круто! Правда круто, но понять смысл песни я смог смотря на текст, поскольку ударения не дают понять что за слово спряталось в произношении. Высокий голос, как нож по маслу, прошелся до самой души
Поляк поет, потому и ударения такие. Хотя, как по мне, так даже лучше.
Если я правильно понял, то в каноне язык Урсус звучит как искажённый русский (исходя из коллаба с Rainbow SIx Siege, где упоминалось, что Тачанка говорил на Урсусе со странным акцентом)
потому, что похоже на рандомную выборку строк. Текст на английском вообще не стыкуется с текстом на славянском/русском языке. Видимо никто из участников/создателей песни не знал нормально русский язык. Накидали строки из стихов Анны Ахматовой не связанные друг с другом, напутали ударения и подлежащие/сказуемые.
@@Guapter На самом деле они знали русский язык, но не в современном виде. Серж Либеровский (вокалист) руководит Хором Храма Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы в Лос-Анджелесе (храм Западноамериканской Русской православной церкви). Поют они там близко к нашему церковному пению, использую дореволюционные наречья, что и даёт "искажённые" ударения. Поэтому никакой ошибки там нет.
Как человек который в детстве довольно часто ходил в церковь ответственно заявляю что это церковный стиль пения. Только вот какой это распев не скажу.
Песня того, кто потерял всё, что можно было потерять. Которому дальше просто некуда идти. Который проиграл. Но пока, зачем-то, всё ещё жив, даже если и лишь наполовину. События прошедших лет реальности через призму контекста находят отражение в мире по ту сторону экрана, ведь трагедия - она универсальна. Даже если каждый переживает её по-своему, она накрывает всех лавиной без разбору.
Прекрасная композиция, прекрасное исполнение. Подумать только, а многие пройдут мимо просто потому, что Arknights - мобильная игра.

@@izarrrno для фростновы, патриот как отец, так как он взял над ней опеку после того как её родители померли в шахте. Это если коротко. У каждого из RM грустная история честно и, честно, даже переживать за них стал. Кроме Талу все из RM это "урсийцы", которым не понравился текущий режим.
@@izarrrno они не совсем родственники. Патриот спас ФростНову, когда она была еще ребенком. Насколько я помню, она и ее друзья сбежали из шахты-тюрьмы, куда ссылали неугодных Урсусу людей. Патриот нашёл ее в снежной пустыне и взял с собой. К ФростНове он относился как к родной дочери (родного сына он потерял во время восстания в Урсусе), и сама девочка называла его отцом. И да, в последних двух главах они погибают, причем трагически. Их характеры раскрываются с новой стороны - они уже не злодеи, как в первых главах, а жертвы ситуации и махинаций одного человека. Поэтому их смерть так тронула фанатов игры.
