Memories- Memories, Had this game in the 70s-80s and played hundreds of races. My only complaint was the final times were quite unrealistic, but hardly a big deal. Great fun.
The best and most realistic horse racing game ever! I still have two copies of this great game with ATG horses and quite a few different seasons. I rana replay of the match-race featuring Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral in 1938. What a great race it was on my tabletop and so much fun! Figuring out a horse's finishing time scared a few gamers away I'm sure. But it's really not that difficult and I've found the final times to be very realistic and pretty much right on the money.
I found a copy of the game but it’s missing the rule book; I’m hoping to learn how to play by watching this video. Someone on the APBA forum sent me the link to the original patent and I’ve been trying to pick through the legal mumbo jumbo to pick out bits of the rules
Interesting video. I interpret the sideways moves a little different in that sideways moves can be used at anytime during the turn so it ends up being the same thing as long as there is a clear path to the inside lanes. I don't move through other horses but that keeps real as I view the race in my mind's eye. I also do the end of race a tad differently but I may have misread the rules. I just apply the left over tenths in the portion to calculate the time of the race for the horses. But that is the great thing about most of the APBA Games. Do what works for you and makes it fun. Thanks for the video, well done!
Are you still doing saddle racing sims? Please let me know. If not, did you sell the game or could you just send me scans of the instructions please. Thank you.
I purchased a set of 10 miniature 'racing horses' from e-bay and they really add to game play and enjoyment. Before I bought them I was using the little plastic horses from a 'Win, Place, or Show' game which weren't that great but more realistic than the horse markers that come with the APBA game.
Steve: I am looking for a good racing game to play solitaire. I don’t really care about the betting part. I just love tabletop sports and I have a craving for horse racing since I grew up in Louisville. Great video as always. Thanks.
Did not catch it live. But I was able to recreate the game and I enjoy playing it. Great little sidebar to baseball. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing Earle, looks really fun, wished they still made it. I'd like the bowling also

What a nice copy of the game! #jealous. Hahaha!
Looks like an amazing game. I downloaded some of the cards from the APBA site but don't have the charts or track to play the game.
Hi Earle, is there a pdf version of the rule book available do you know?
Alan Shaw not that I’m aware of.
@@TabletopBaseballPlus Any chance you could scan or photograph the rules? Would love to study this game
Very clever movement system. I like that. Too bad it can only be bought in USA, when I live in Europe.
