For my 1982-83 replay, I have transferred the ratings (forecheck, shot frequency, assist rating, penalty ratings, clearing rating, and intimidation rating) to teams charts on card stock paper. I organize them by lines and pairs for quick reference. I do not like to spread the cards on the board. I like to keep the whole pack in my hands in alphabetical order for quick reference, and I use the SOM hockey utility to record results. Because APBA has 10 more time markers then the SOM utility, I count ten extra plays usually involving the Int (X) results. I love all of your instructional tutorials and have incorporated the Mike Berger charts that you suggested.
a few minutes of APBA hockey. See notes below. - on the matchup play, I looked at 5 instead of 8 after the check, but in both cases the puck would be taken by the RW. - a shot that is not in range is still a shot on goal, for some reason I always say it's not on goal. It is, but just can't be a goal. - on the shot that was in range, I looked at the save chart instead of the possible goal chart, in both cases it would be a save.
I almost always get lucky on my mistakes, too, in that they don't affect the outcome any. I think I sort of feel the same way about this that you feel about Bones, trying to follow charts, etc. But I know that not having played it makes it harder for me. What I DO enjoy, in any event, is hearing your enthusiasm for this, that tone in your voice. That I can identify with 1000%, even if it's with a different game. ;)
Does IDJester happen to provide downloads of the charts he converted to Excel? I've got my copy of APBA Hockey coming in the mail and after watching several of your videos, I can see myself playing just like you do.
I really cut my playing time by using electronic dice. I know, it's not rolling...
This was the era when we had no NHL team in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice video - I don't play the advanced game, so thanks! Mike

Very good. Started slow but the pace picked up fast. Good stuff! Who won the game?
Good gosh.......2 rolls and 2 charts for a 2 second battle along the boards that then is a 30 second segment of game time....
was tempted to get the game but the shipping is $10 more than the cost of the game
I just bought APBA Hockey... I'm looking forward to learning the game engine
Also, I didn't realize you need to roll two dice on that smaller chart, matchup.
