It's almost too perfect. Wow. I've never heard this march played with such pristine balance, intonation, articulation etc. Love hearing you guys play some classics once in a while.
People in Texas must have lizard tongues to articulate this good.
This is the best version I've ever heard so far, job well done!
What about the performance of B&B by the Eastman Wind Ensemble under Frederick Fennell??
That was an awesome concert!! Are you going to release the trumpet section feature piece too? ;)
listening to this reminds me how much I suck playing flute 😵💫. I’ll practice harder 😓
John Varley sent me here.
one word WOW 🤩
I remember being in my middle school class and this was the song we were learning alongside, if I remember correctly, was Arabian Nights(?) but I can’t remember if it’s exactly that or just another song that I just mistaken it for
MIDDLE school?! What were they feeding y’all???
@@nileharvey7149 concert band. It was a fun song tho!
Listen to those trombones go!
THE BEST
I need coffee ☕️
I love to see girls playing the trumpet!
A tad fast....
Think horses cantering around the hippodrome rather than a marching band tempo. 150 +/- is right on for a screamer. Fast, and loud! Very few bands can play this tempo and be as precise as this example.
Circus marches are meant to be played at this tempo. When I was in high school, I played a concert under the direction of Karl King, himself! We played MANY of his circus marches, and this is the tempo he took with all of them. I am sure he would be delighted at the way the UNT wind symphony plays this piece.
@@barbaraclark9799 Are you familiar with the drum & bugle corps movement of the 1970s?? The Argonne Rebels D&B Corps from Great Bend, Kansas used Barnum & Bailey as their field entry and did a superb job (with only 2 valves). Argonne performed it in a private exhibition with an audience of one, Karl King himself, who rose from a bed of severe illness and put on his band director's uniform for the occasion. Argonne made him an honorary member of the corps; there's a photo of it somewhere on-line. There is an excellent CD recording of Argonne playing Barnum & Bailey and other numbers. If you like, I'll send you a copy. Write me at 14833 Spring Creek Road, #236, Dallas, TX 75248.
@@barbaraclark9799 You must have belonged to one heck of a fine high school band to play Barnum & Bailey, and very blessed to have Karl King as your conductor for the occasion. What instrument do you play?
@@fredericmartin7148 I played flute and piccolo in a small town band in Northeastern Montana, and I was chosen to play in an honor band made up of students from many Montana towns when Karl King visited our state. I was blessed to be chosen to play in that band, and now I am blessed to have a grandson who plays clarinet and is a graduate student at UNT.
Another recording of B&B that would be much more enjoyable at a more reasonable tempo.
