I've watched this video over and over and I'm VERY impressed with this fine band. They look sharp and snappy, they march well and above all, they PLAY well. My compliments to this fine band and all the work they had to do to provide a performance like this. My compliments to their director for selecting a bombastic, brassy march for them to play.....at a sensible tempo. Some bands are hampered by having to play a concert march, but not this one. BRAVO !
If only more people played this amazing march😧 either way, these guys sound freaking amazing. Definitely give them and their director props for picking such a march
Ok, it's March 23, 2016 and I'm lured once more back to this performance by this exceptional band. You guys are GREAT ! Incidentally, I just noticed the nice tonguing technique by the clarinets and flutes as the band passed by.
Not sure what that one star rating was about. This was a superb performance and the best I've heard from them in a long time. Congratulations on a great season!
You guys are damn good, from a retired band director...my uncle used to be famous in San Diego..Lyle Bond, broadcaster for the San Diego Chargers way back in the 1960's. He would have flipped to see this, he was a trombone player when he was a kid.
It's now May 1, 2015 and I still come here to see this fine performance. What a GREAT high school band ! I know a LOT of hard work went into this wonderful performance. BRAVO, for about the 20 th time !
+SpeedyNeutrino172 ...I believe a lot of directors or the students themselves hear the "circus" version up there around 160 + BPM and shy away from it. This is the perfect tempo for marching...around 120.
+Dy1ingGir4ffes ...Incidentally, if you want to hear something unusual, find The French Foreign Legions instrumental march, "Le Boudin" which is played at 88 BPM. Of course you may have already heard that march.
+SpeedyNeutrino172 I have not heard it, and when I get to a location with solid internet, I'll definitely have to check it out. Yeah, high school bands should leave the circus tempos to the military bands. I'd love to see Mt. Carmel revive "In Storm and Sunshine" or "BB and CF". They'd definitely set the standard for each, much as they have "Barnum and Bailey's Favorite" (2011), "Loyal Legion" (2014) and "The Beau Ideal" (1986 and 2015). They also have claim to my favorite "Bullets and Bayonets" (2008). Such an amazing parade band, I have to say.
@SpikefanTheTerrible - I agree, this is one of the best I've heard from them since Mr. Torns retired. However, I must admit that I am not a fan of the new look they have in their uniforms. I can imagine that they have merged their field Uniforms completely onto the street. Also, I am not a fan of the new Banner. I believe it doesn't have the same effect and appeal as their classic banner ( I remember when they were raised on poles). But their sound is Definitely makes up for it. Was Awesome
@SpikefanTheTerrible there hasn't been a decision made about next year's uniforms. Also, the banner is replacing the old one that took 8 people to carry. The new one only weighs a few pounds, though I agree that the old one was better.
@kuxica From my understanding, Mt Carmel will be getting new uniforms next season. And the parade uniforms they normally used were not cleaned. Don't take my word for it though.,
@marchingsundevils11 I'm glad to hear these won't be their parade uniforms from here on out. Are the new parade uniforms going to be red again? Any word on what happened with the banner?
If there any questions the FAMU band's music ability (they are showmen, not musicians), just listen to this fine high school band perform musically. A great performance by a proud and well prepared group of kids. listen to both bands and compare.
My one complaint, and this is a general one for all the bands in these wonderful street competitions, is the almost total suppression of the percussion sections. All the bands seem to use one snare drum, one bass drum and a light dusting of cymbals. As a drummer for over 65 years I'm disturbed by the lack of respect given to humanity's oldest musical instruments.
For this March to be played at Andante pace, Mt. Carmel fell short. Sloppy and uncontrolled. No chords I could hear on this video. How was it at street level ?......... Unexciting I bet.

Their low brass is strong as hell
If only more people played this amazing march😧 either way, these guys sound freaking amazing. Definitely give them and their director props for picking such a march
I was in the Chino High Band in 1973, when this was our march. We won two sweepstakes trophys with that tune!!!! YEA!!!!!

That was nowhere near the original tempo!
that tuba or trombone a 1:20 earns my respect

this was one of the best runs of our whole parade season
Oh man that bass trombone before the trio!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!
Totally awesome job tackling a tough march! And I must commend the euphs during the final strain!!
damn
The band looks and sounds terrific, too. I could not see one rank or file out of place!
Wow! That looks like a first place drum major performance to me! Terrific execution and showmanship. Awesome job!!
Mount Carmel HS sensacional apresentação... afinação, dinâmica, deslocamento, enfim, uma "orquestra" em marcha! Parabéns! 👏👏👏👏
1:22 That bass trombone tho

SpeedyNeutrino172 one of the best Barnum and Baileys out there, up there with old school Castle Park and Loara
+Dy1ingGir4ffes ...I agree. This is the best rendition of Barnum and Baileys I've EVER heard from a high school band.....bar none.

Take it from a guy who's played euphonium for 3 years running. This song is hell!!!
Great !!! A perfect tempo for a high school band and not over the top....BRAVO !
Awesome job!!
Phantom regiment alum
I LOVE MARCHING BANDS!
Carmel HS belíssimo desfile... apresentação impecável! 👏👏👏👏
BARITONES ARE LOVE! EUPHONIUMS ARE LIFE!~
So true

strong woodwinds!
Bravo! excellent band.
We have to play this in our band. Even as a tuba player, I'm fricking screwed.
Parabéns pelo excelente desfile! 👏👏👏👏

Looks like those judges were very busy! A great HS band!
Whenever I hear King or Fuchik I always imagine our legislators at all 3 levels filing into chambers dressed in clown suits !
What happened to baritone solo?
Low brass rocked it.
Wonderful
It literally made me feel all tingly haha

Awww dam
1.25x speed is the correct tempo; those kids sound great!
Percussion could of been a little louder

They sound great!!! just not liking the banner and uniforms.
I have mixed feelings about this.
Sounds good. But play it at the time it’s written in. Too slow
FAMU? Compared to this fine band? Pffttt...all FAMU produces is NOISE with NO regard whatsoever for dynamics. FAMU makes my ears BLEED !
