    - Give an opponent’s beatstick Axe of Despair
    - Activate Falling Down to steal
    - attack
    - Die to Magic Cylinder

    The New archfiends apparently are also chess based:
    King = emperor
    Queen = empress
    Pawn = heiress
    Knight = cavalry
    Bishop = commander
    Tower = giant

    Nice video! Glad to see Archfiends being talked about in this day and age. The archetype has so many cards and is even the only one in the entire game that has every summoning mechanic! I'd also argue that Berserk Dragon is a solid support card for Archfiends, given that you can easily search out A Deal with Dark Ruler.
    Thanks for the video! Keep it up

    I completely forgot that the archfiends were chess pieces. Also I am looking forward to seeing everything you have planned!

    So the artwork for Call of the Archfiend is Archfiend Emperor reviving and devouring King of the Abyss after King of the Abyss' showdown with Revived King Ha Des. It's a part of the Dark Ruler lore story and is pretty interesting.
    I also feel like Masterking Archfiend is underrated, as it can send FIENDS to the GY based on the LP you pay, and you can use cards like Unending Nightmare and Cosmic Cyclone to mill a Farfa for some disruption, not to mention it can recover lost fiends, though I will admit that it's inconsistent as to where the recovered Fiend goes.

    Summoned Skull really needs a dedicated support deck.

    Love this archetype! First Deck I ever built, back in 2019, because I had a weird fascination with Fiends. It wasn't the original Chess Archfiends, it was the updated ones. Still have it to this day, and I need to rebuild the Extra Deck from the ground up to support the Deck, but I still love bringing it out, seeing where I started, and laughing as I reflect on all the games I've played with it. Thanks for the video on these wonderful cards!

    The old archfiends are fun to use in goat format. Terrorking can negate flip monsters and shadowknight is a 2k attacker. Desrook can revive terrorking if it gets blown up by the many destruction traps in the format. Also they have some targeting protection which helps against snatch steal. They even have their own archetypal snatch steal and call of the haunted

    I really loved the artworks of the archetype also with the idea of chess parallel, yet it is mechanics totally suck personally for me.

    Three eyed dude getting screwed over by a royal figure? Sounds like dark king of the abyss.
    I’m probably wrong.

    I play Archfiend with a lot of GY Set Up Cards like Void Apocalypse or Fiend Griefing. Together with the Dark Spirit Monsters from Bakura who can revieve them over and over again these Lvl 8 Archfiend Emperor and Empress become really nice.

      Yeah that's one of the best combos i've found with them. The Dark Spirit monsters really add a lot of utility

    Archfiend Giant is situational but I've always played him at 1. The destruction prevention being his most useful trait. Falling Down usually gives access to easy tribute fodder or a non destructive solution to removing problem monsters. He has synergy with destruction effects of Commander and Archfiend roar if you want to go into rank 6 xyz plays or just keep something on the board if things have gone sideways. While not the best card, he does have a good bit of situational utility in the deck.

    Archetypes are just engines for modern staple extra deck cards. Borro Drag, Accescode, etc. Makes the game boring. Konami should ban all the top universal extra deck cards that can fit into any deck. Then archetype and deck building should matter.

      Terrible idea. Then everything will become too archetype focus with no room to innovate by discovering interactions with other archetypes or standalone cards. Or even more boring, making the same card over 20 times so each archetype can use that type of effect. I only like that for "Fusion" fusion cards because it really is neat to see how many different ways Konami can stylize the Polymerization spiral effect on cards to their specific archetypal aesthetic.
