After watching this how-to video on borek from the defacto Albanian food ambassador himself, Action Bronson, you're gonna be making Albanian dishes left and right. Watch as Mr. Wonderful and his aunt teach you how to make borek, a stuffed puff pastry pie of sorts that she fills with sauteed ground beef and onion. This recipe is so good, you'll want to call him BamBamBoreklava. Enjoy.

Burek is very popular in all Balkan countries, it`s dish influenced by the Ottoman Empire ... pretty much every Balkan country have it`s own version ... and all of them are delicious ...
Every country? Dude every grandma has her own version xD
@@JoaniMaster yea lol
I'm half Turkish grew up eating Borek. Cheers!
@Isaac A lot of people took from the Greeks

Vegeta - the OG spice from the Balkans
croatia
@Joey Chestnut And where might Croatia just be?
my name is philip i am a poet croatia is on balkan lmao are you dumb
The prince of all spices
@@joeychestnut2437 vegeta isnt specifically croatian. its been traded and used amongst Balkan and Mediterraneans forever man. vegeta is made in a bunch of slavic countries. macedonia albania croatia etc.
A man can be a master chef for 50 years and have 20 michelin stars, but he‘s never gonna make pita as masterfully as balkan moms do, period.

Byrek not börek
BYREK IS ALBANIAN RECEPT, NOT BUREK NOT BÖREK, JUST BYREK
I love her accent of New York with Albanian mix!! Nice family!
You called it action I'm Hispanic and I made this after watching it. Like you I like to have a multi cultural palate. You can lear a lot about other culture from food. All good food comes with a story. Thank you for posting.
For all those people that never had a chance to try this. You really don't know what you are missing.
I have a local Bosnian resturant near me that serves burek and its sooo damn good. I'm addicted to it haha they do the original beef and onion and also a ricotta cheese one. Both are amazing.
It's not Balkan until there is Vegeta in it.
Soooo true 😂😂😂
i am german and i love using vegeta for cooking too. ^^
It has nothing to do with "balkan" they use it in various countries in Europe :D
It made me think of my moms cooking bc she loooved vegeta lolol
Heheeh jea!
Hearing a Albanian accent with a New York twang is so cool! I love the melting pot that is the U.S. 😊
Am I the only one who died when he said "I'm sorry" at 2:38
Haha action is so psyched! He's just like a little kid when it comes to food.
I’m Albanian and beef is not the only filling you can use because you could use spinach ,eggs, and many more things for the filling
Leeks, butternut squash, sauerkraut, etc.
Burek is one of my favorite recipe. This dish makes me very hungry.
Respect to Bronson's family for sharing with us.
Respect to Kosovo and Albania.
Greeting from The Netherlands.
Byrek esht shqip jo burek
I have eaten burek since I was 6 or 7 years old. I don’t think I have ever seen it made. Thank you for sharing one of our comfort foods.
Kada ces pojesti burek?
My husband is Bosnian and his mother makes the best cheese and beef pita. Watching this makes my mouth water.
+Margo Perri Ask your husband about sarma. Come thank me later.
Loved the interaction with his Aunt. No matter who you are you can't front on some people.
This made my morning man...my mom's side is polish and she would make something very similar when I was a kid...I've been trying to figure out what it was called for years!

it's amazing to me how labor intensive some of these old reciepes are - people back in the day barely had houses the size of this person's kitchen area.
I can see why action bronson is such a big dude. All of these Albanian dishes use like 10 sticks of butter per recipe. That shit looks bangin
Albanians make Borek too? In Algeria we make something similar called Bourek we use a phyllo pastry and its of a spring roll shape. Some are stuffed with ground beef, others with feta cheese and mint, it's delicious.
Albanian people are amazing. I just came back from visiting a few cities in Albania and I ate my weight in byrek.
Haha, Action Bronson is a legendary Albanian!
Fantastic recipe and a fantastic video. Thx very much for spreading our Albanian culture to the rest of the world.
And to people: please stop hating - non of you where even born when this or that empire existed. So what if Albanian says it a Albanian dish.
This is making me miss Shkodra, my favorite city i've ever been to. Hopefully I can come close to making this correctly tonight
Damn I love Balkan dishes. They know what tastes good. Daaaamn.
I love how he didn't curse the whole time lmao
The meat burek is my favorite so far. I do like the cheese and spinach borek though. Nothing beats the traditional meat burek. 👍
As a 29-year-old Turkish guy, I've been to Tirana several times, had chances to taste this at its hometown and ALL I can say is that "pite" is just not borek and there's nothing more delicious than this on the world.
Besides that, guys, stop discussing about who made it first. Borek is borek, pite is pite and Kosovo je Albania.
terbiye siz thanks kardeşim Kosova olduğu Arnavutluk 😊#AlbTur
Mozes da sanjas.
you can add garlic powder instead, vegeta is onion, garlic, celery, carrot powder you can barely taste anything besides garlic, its just milder , maybe a pinch of sugar and mustard will give the vegeta effect to your garlic powder
Damn I was on a diet now I’m heading for the Bronx to get burek 🤭😭 .... and every Albanian kitchen here in New York is Exatly like that , from the cabinets color countertop etc ... lmao
im from queens my parents algerian but we make bureks too tho not like yall but we make them had no idea other people made that shit lmfao i deadass thought it was like some north african shit only
How many miligrams of Vegeta do you add? Over 9000?
You win the Internet!! I can't believe this comment is 5 months old and nobody liked or replied to this yet, this is gold. Lmfao.
where do u see it?
***** shut the fuck up. i bet you could cook anything even with vegeta.
only balkans will get this Ajvar ftw
vegeta is shit!
divno svaka cast za recept , napravila sam i fantasticna mi je ispala , hvala jos jednom :)
I've always spelled it Burek, but it doesn't really matter. Also it doesn't have to be so plain. you could add greek yogurt or sourcream. other recipes include cooked spinach and feta cheese. you can pretty much put anything in it.
Lmao when he snags a piece of hamburger while it’s still cooking is real as hell
Burek is also national dish of Montenegro . This is where I ate it first time. Gotta check this recipe out at my home! Thanks Action B!
At 3:50 you can see action looking at the food like a kid looks at his gifts on christmas...guys simply loves food
I cant place her accent, but it is lovely and warm. She sounds like shes lived everywhere. Idk what that is, but I want some.
That was awesome on so many different levels.
Action Bronson MUST go to my country Albania browse the country from north to south from east to west and everywhere he'd go he should eat byrek and he will be blown away by the multiple varieties. We nail byrek! In Turkey they call it Arnavut Boregi. My two favorite choices as an Albanian, the cheese, milk, ricotta cheese, eggs mixed as a filling between two thick phylos (byrek me dy pete) and byrek with tomatoes and onions (byrek me qepe e domate). Remember the BEST way of baking a byrek is on saç in wood fire.

Rula Drise ç.sağol kardeşim
My mom makes burek but a little different bosnian way
TheRangers1990 is pita
EP AL in Bosnia it’s called pita if it’s with potatoes or cheese. It’s only called Burek if it’s with meat.
Tony Mahony in Kosovo we call it pite if it’s made flat, burek if it’s rolled. Really it’s just pite, it apparent existed before the Ottoman Empire.
Love Bosnia 🇧🇦 ❤
I love watching this guy. Hilarious

Just seen this video .. Are you Albanian or have a Albanian background .. Really cool that your showing Albanian food !
He’s half Albanian, half jewish
"I Kiss My Mother on the cheek, tell her that I love her, you ain't gotta worry about a thing I got it covered" 🎶
The best one has sautéed tomato oninon and dried mint filling, Action Bronson needs some KOS ( sour yogurt) to accompany that it would compliment by cutting the richness. We were grown on byrek and whoever says its not Albanian knows nothing about the popularity and the mastery this dish is prepared with by fast food joints in Albania. Its the fast food of choice like burgers in america or tacos in Mexico. It doesn't matter where it originated no one knows for sure but I can tell you no one does it better than an Albaninan.
Luv kos or thal
watching this while eating burek hit different
Borek is a generic word for pastries etc in Turkish ... there are a million different types, at first I thought she was making Su Buregi but this I have never seen ... Also, he called his aunt Hala hahah .. that is Turkish for aunt. I guess Turkish and Albanian culture/language have some similarities due to the Ottomans. In some other episode this same lady makes Baklava hahah, also Action has like 3 songs that are sampled from Turkish folk/rock (e.g. Easy Rider)
This reminds of working Skopje and eating this in the old bazaar with ma shqipe
Is the guy with the beard albanian?
He is an real Albanian Action Bronson
OMG so good! Börek, one of my top fav!
Ever since I saw a tiktok of this I have been obsessed. Ugh it look do crunchy and delicious
Big up for you my shqipe! Where are the albanians??
Haha he said sorry quick when his Aunt said "Use your hands"
Action was "sorry I was being lazy" seems he usually has control of a room. Not this room lol great vid and food looks good 🤘
Once again, proving that AB needs his own channel. Come on Action! Do it.
VEGETA IS EVERYTHING!!! :)))
Balkaaaaaan, ladies and gentlemen.
More like Kosovo&Albania.
myndwork And Kosovo & Albania are on the Balkan peninsula mister.
its not even balkan food, its turkish
omegazthebadass Yes, I heard sushi comes from turkey too, as well as tacos. Everything comes from Turkey. Turkey too!
lolno, in the times the ottoman empire still existed, they brought their islam and food to the balkan area, its sort of turkish and balkan at the same time, and greek too, as every region has their own version of it
Fuck, that looks delicious.
2:38 love him respecting his aunt
Action Bronson's beard in this video looks like he shaved a kid's ginger afro and glued it onto his chin. I love it
Hell yeah that looks so good bro ... Pita is what i always called it ... Bosnia checking in ..
I like the spinach and feta lakror with and the borek with Greek yogurt and feta. I've eaten it home cooked in Kosovo very good.
The level of this recipe is OVER 9000!!!!!!!!
I dont know about Albania but in armenia/turkey we have a cheese one aswell, thats amazing
Aaron Taskiran so do the balkan countries, meat filled is called burek and vegetable or cheese is called pita
ALBANIA!!!!!! ooo shipe
You can do this with pumpkin. Potato and onion, cheese blend, spinach and cheese blend, the ground beef and onion slaps the hardest, if you want good burek/Pite go to to Astoria ( little Albania ) in NY. LOOK for the eagle. 👌
they just made something incredibly difficult look so easy lol.
omg pite me mish yasss kuderr😂
Vegeta in your meat. Super Saiyan goodness
ive never been this hungry after i just ate in my life lol
damn... looks good
lol, like 3 sticks of jumbo sized sticks of butter are in that recipe. Its probably incredible, butter everything taste better.

That pastry is beautiful
Well, in fact it's called byrek in Albania and burek in Kosovo.
erni313 it's burëk in Kosovo to

It depends from the region but most of Kosovo albanians call it Pite while n Albania most of people call it Burek/byrek.
yeah, but we also have pite kleni too.
we have lakror too or petanik
love how the man of the house gives zero fucks and walks on in during the shot
its funny how we ballkans eat many same foods have many same thinks but we just fuking hate to much each other . lol /
