The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Elevate 22 is the company's new ultralight daypack which looks like the small brother of the bigger Hyperlite backpacks. It keeps the same roll-top design, same color options, and same waterproof DCH material but comes with a hefty price tag.
Is the Elevate 22 worth the money?
Let’s find out in the review.

It is a great pack, no doubt! The hipbelt could have pockets…

Just purchased a Waypoint 35 (have not rec’d it yet) and considered returning the Elevate 22.
Seems like this would be great for day hikes and travel. My Waypoint 35 would be good for couple day solo trips, and my Southwest 70 for multiple day hikes to help carry most of the fam’s gear.
Never was my intention to have 3 packs yet here we are.
IMO, buy HMG when on sale.
Great review. The video encouraged me to keep the 22.

Oh well, we can never have enough backpacks :) The Waypoint is an interesting pack, a bit smaller in size than my SoutWest 40L pack and lighter too. However the Elevate 22 makes more sense as a daypack in my opinion.
Let me know how you like the Waypoint when it you get it.
      Thanks for the feedback!
      Aloha

I use mine with the HMG versa and I love it, you can move it from the waist belt to the chest strap... I find the versa works better than the hip pockets as its more ergonomic, holds more and you can also uses it as a everyday cary. I love the way you tension the wast belt with two hands. Two things I don't like is the G hook on the top strap.... I find you have to over tension the pack and it changes the shape of the pack due to it been frameless is its not fully loaded, I would rather the buckle design like on the 2400/3400 etc. I miss the flat bottom design of the larger pack so it can stand upright and not fall over.

Thanks for the great feedback! The Versa idea is an interesting one, however I think it depends on situations when it could work or not. For example on a scrambling mission having the versa on the front might be in the way, but other than that sounds like a great option.
Yes, I think the buckle design is still my favorite option bjt the G hook doesn’t bother me either.

Thanks for a great review. It seems a bit larger than 22 litres!! There's a sale on now........

Yes, it feels bigger because it is narrower and longer than the usual daypacks. I think they are great for a day when you might need more layers or gear.

The hip extension is meant to be an optional upselling item for consumers purchasing along with the backpack not a cons

Do you mean the hip belt? Unfortunately HMG do not sell any other hip belt for this backpack.

Have a couple of HMG products. But until 35 liters I convert into Salomon xt trailrun fastpack. Light, cheaper, wears better and a lot of pockets

Can you please elaborate on the healthiness of the pack over time? How has it held up? How are the zippers and quality after abuse/use?
      Thanks!

@@SophisticatedDogCat Both Salomon and HMG are still holding fine. Both no zippers. Huge plus. Salomon are totally waterproof. Tested it with rain. HMG are water resistant.

@@MSD-bp6mx I have an HMG Southwest so I know that HMG has amazing quality, but I’m specifically asking about the Salomon Trailblazer 20.

@@MSD-bp6mx How does the Salomon fit on the back? Does it flop around too much?

Ah. No I have the Salomon XT and not the trailblazer.
