This is my humble tribute to the magnificent work of '' King Diamond ''(solo) and with his band '' Mercyful Fate ''.
It is also a tribute to all the excellent guitarists and musicians who have worked with this extraordinary artist!
A very special thanks to my wife for her patience and excellent makeup work!

I like both bands, but I stick with Mercyful Fate. The Shermann / Denner duo is second to none

Both bands are the pure heavy metal pefection. Especially first two MF and first five KD albums.

Mercyful Fate is definitely proto-black metal, but the actual music itself is traditional heavy metal inspired by progressive rock with blackened lyrics. King is a huge Rush fan, and it really shows in their sound! 🖤🤘🏼🔥

It's very hard to choose which ones are better. Mercyful Fate rules with it's very Blues-inspired grooves, but King Diamond's riffs have this "magic" which makes them just unforgetable, catchy while still very dark

Mercyful Fate dont break the oath and melissa are incredible metal albums. Black funeral, Gypsy ; The oath ; desecration of souls 🤘 I have not heard of all King Diamond's solo stuff.

Mercyful Fate (EP), Melissa, and Don't Break the Oath are their best, and In the Shadows and even Time, and Into the Unknown are really good. The best King Diamond albums (IMO) are Abigail, Them, Conspiracy and The Eye. Listen to those KD albums at least if you haven't yet.

Brother this whole thing started in 1981-82
"Spots" being the operative word, and even then you have to be paying attention or you'll miss them. For albums as a whole, I just can't be bothered to listen to anything beyond Voodoo. They are all just so low energy after that. I wonder if we will ever hear anything new from him again either. He's been promoting his "new album" for about a decade now, and the most we've gotten is a live Blu-ray of his most celebrated album. Abigail is great and all, but we've all had access to it for ages now already.

While all praise is due to all the MF and KD guitarists through the years, let's not forget that the King actually wrote a lot of those riffs himself. He's a highly respectable riffmaster and rhythm guitar player.

Great video, both bands have created amazing and remarkable riffs throughout the years. And Mercyful Fate's Satan's Fall probably contains more riffs than this video as a whole :D How long did it take to make both makeups?

O mais interessante é perceber a,diferença de estilos entre eles. KD é mais rápido, baseado em riffs single notes, mais urgente. MF baseado em power chords com um groove fantástico e linhas em melódica e harmônica menor (aí que se percebe que Kim Ruzz é um dos top 3 dos maiores bateras de heavy metal da história).
Questão de gosto, igual churrasco, uma picanha maravilhosa e um bife de chorizo que derrete na boca. Ambos maravilhosos.
Quem ganha? Todos nós amantes de um Heavy de qualidade ímpar.

Finally :D Excellent job, both band I love, but I usually prefer Mercyful Fate for more complex riffs, crazy ideas. Result of this contest for me is:

A Mansion in Darkness vs Evil - Winner: A Mansion in Darkness, but main riff is a way better than verse, and you play Evil a bit too fast and lose his evil feeling

Magic vs The Oath - Winner: The Oath
Give Me Your Soul vs The Old Oak - Winner: The Old Oak
Six Feet Under vs The Uninvited Guest - Winner: The Uninvited Guest
Victimized vs Melissa - Winner:Victimized. it's unfair comparison it should be Magic vs Melissa or Spiders Lullabye vs Melissa you know more ballad type.
So final results is 4:3 for Mercyful Fate

I really don't think its fair to critique one against the other. There's going to be differences between two sets of axemen. There's going to be slightly different levels of skill and tones/ e.q. dial ins......King himself is the presenter of both versions of this great metal band. I can't knock one of his guys in favor of another, but I tend to prefer the guys who created the very first demo just cause thats what I personally discovered and grew up with. One other way for me to approach it is being a drummer. Kim Ruzz is similar to my style. we are brothers in that regard.He could fill in for me if asked.....I could do the same for him.
