Quick correction from the video: the Caspian sea mod does include a canal to access the ocean from. Technically the canal wasn't finished until 1952 but the mod includes it just to make things work better.
@@OnionIlan if you are as far as Baku you've probably already won if it's ai tbh. If it's a player than taking Baku wouldn't be easy if there was a canal in the Caspian Sea, as Soviets you could literally hold there for eternity if you are good enough
wasn´t the caspian sea in the game at launch but it was causing a none stop problem for AI soviet and even for player thta was not not only paying attentions but knew how to fix it. plus a never ending pathfinder bleed.

A bit wrong at 3:35, There's a some sort of canal which connects the Caspian Sea with the Black Sea, so technically you couldu se the canal thing to build a powerfull navy, thing is you have to get to Excavation IV first.
yeah but that why they blocked it from being a sea and connected Russia had as big of a river trade than the US from a big part there history before the industrialization most people will have moved be boat from all the river but make it harder to code what can go in and what can not for little game impact
@@aoki6332 yep HOI4 have no support for small vs big ship. like in Sweden archipelago battleship or aircraft carrier would get stuck, but a destroyer or coastal defense ship would happily sail about. there was also destroyer that could sail up and down several rivers and would do that but in HOI4 not a option.
I like the one that recreates the Neva Channel which connects the White and Baltic seas. Maybe the channel connecting the Caspian and Black seas should an expensive decision or focus
The Aral sea is just like the Black sea, how can you leave the Black sea? The strait itself is hard coded to only allow passage of the owner or the owners allies in times of war.

The problem is, it's construction only started in 1948, and was completed only by 1952.

It is, I think you need Construction 4 (1941) and do a decision that uses some civs and takes a little while. Can't remember the specifics.
