That's a nightmare to experience for an Airbnb host. I really enjoyed the editing of this video. Thank you for another informational video and reminding us to continue ensuring our properties are secured of potential threats & future issues that may arise.
Sean , I never thought we would hear this story from you, but thank you so much and I hope that man is okay and love the way you got emotional for this one employee. Every person matters in your building of success.
Oftentimes it's extremely difficult not to get our emotions to take control over our actions; especially when it deals with things that happen to family, friends, or people close to us. We're glad that you were able to make the right choice and stay around for you, yours, and to be able to keep sharing your knowledge with us.
THIS was really powerful video. Thank you for putting it out. I have experienced that kind of anger when a third party booking person destroyed a brand new listing. The saga continues... Question: What did you doo with all of the items from inside of your shut down STR's?
This brings back so many bad memories! We experienced a similar fase on Tulum. After the first few months of the pandemic the lack of jobs specially constructed jobs the crime rate sky rocketed! Tulum being one of the few “No Covid” cities in the world we were drowning on the amount of guests we were hosting. But still, there was a lot of unemployment around. We started having break-ins to our airbnbs. At first they were done when the guests were out of the properties. But soon enough we started having break-ins while the guests were sleeping! This was the worst time and we couldn’t do anything, the police did not help at all and private security was not an option. We finally survived that crime wave and everything came back to normal. Also, Airbnb couldn’t care less about their guests through this fase in Tulum. I know for a fact this was happening a lot to hosts and guests in this city and was Airbnb just spectating. When ever I called reporting this they were happy I helped the guests with what ever legal procedures the guest needed, but airbnb never investigated further.
Sorry you had that experience. It seems the rule is do not invest in super liberal cities defunding police. To avoid parties, two day minimum bookings and not taking a guest with a local area address is key. It usually spells trouble. Ask questions often.
Currently experiencing a two week stay being canceled three days short of the two weeks stay in which they had a day before extended to a month long stay when Airbnb cancels with that explanation this day, and is deducting my account for the full amount of the stay even the two weeks in which I hosted I am being completely robbed by Airbnb, at this point, that is how I feel has anybody ever experienced something like this? They are claiming for as much as they are willing to provide as far as information something close to third-party suspicion for this day, and they have the right to cancel us stay at any time per their policy, as they stated nonetheless, I hosted the guest and should be paid for the time I hosted. There are so many of the rules and regulations that I could mention which the stay on my end doesn’t violate any of them and I am due payment. Any insight from anyone how to handle this support is no help at all.
Thanks for your honesty. This is a rough one. Have things improved in those areas or are they still gang and crime ridden? What kinds of guests were you booking in these sections of the city?
I’m a host in Philly, specifically in the areas he referred too and it’s still a lot of crime. Having houses are dangerous, apartments are definitely safer.
This is some people’s everyday reality in Philadelphia. So sad on so many levels. Mostly I feel for the housekeeper and other employees affected by the crime and loss of work due to closing the AirBnBS. There are good people in Philly, they are working so hard and hustling to earn a living and for what? To have their lives threatened trying to get home to their family.
This is why nobody should live in a blue state. And with Uncle Festerman in charge, nothing will be improved. Pennsylvanians had a tough choice. Vote for a guy who was born in Ohio and became successful by working hard and graduating from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, who then became a professor of surgery at Columbia University, and later retired to professor emeritus in 2018 and raised four kids. Or you could vote for a couch potato who never had a real job and lived off his parents and was given a house and can barely complete a sentence.
01:12 🌐 Gang Activity Targeting Airbnb: Gang members targeted Airbnb properties in Philadelphia, resulting in serious safety issues, break-ins, and an eventual murder linked to the criminal activities. 04:39 🚨 Airbnb Response to Crisis: Airbnb's response to the host's near-death experience and the escalating security issues was inadequate, reflecting a lack of effective support during a crisis. 05:56 🔐 Break-ins and Police Response: Despite frequent break-ins and security concerns, the Philadelphia police were unresponsive until the gang involved in the break-ins was linked to a murder, emphasizing a problematic situation for hosts. 07:03 💔 Impact on Host's Finances and Business: The host faced significant financial losses due to repeated cancellations, property damage, and the overall impact of criminal activities, leading to a decision to leave Philadelphia. 07:38 😢 Tragic Consequence: The tragic consequence of the situation unfolded as the host's housekeeper, a victim of the break-ins, suffered a life-threatening injury and later passed away, adding a heavy emotional toll to the host's experience.
2 miles from the hood isnt so close, fyi. its actuall rather far. need to understand the demographics of inner-cities. every metro city has hoods given housing complexes. this is a result of the 60s civil rights movement and the 'white flight': nyc, philly, la, newark, camden, etc. may wanna brush up on it. and kensington is full of tweakers, not gangs.
The stock photo you use of the 4 guests in the beginning is hilariously dumb! yeah, im sure that's what they looked like 😂 .. but of course we get it, that's what you have to use, i would have just left it out. And big surprise there’s huge problems doing lower priced Airbnb's in Philadelphia, especially those areas. I'm shocked 😲
Well.. who created the ghettos of America and why do they exist 🤔? Let’s not go there guys. You won’t win. Hate that this happened to Sean and his employees.
Sean, I greatly appreciate you not taking any action to aid and assist in the capture or apprehension of these individuals so that they can continue to do the same injustices that have been taken place within the community. Im so glad that you chose to do nothing, packed up and left, all in the name if continuing to teach us. What a mentor!!!
@Commissarius Exactly what we've done in our community to catch the people breaking into vacation homes.....WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE! ANYTHING, but runaway! The simple fact that someone close to you or that you employ has been hospitalized would have been an even greater reason to do something to stop this from happening to someone else. Say what you will to justify this b*tch**sery, but I come from a breed of man that doesn't allow for evil to triumph by not doing anything and running away.
America has always been savage and diabolical, unfortunately, nothing new under the ☀️. This is devastating. I’m sorry you and your team had go through that @ Sean. Thank you for sharing. ♥️
OK so you fagged out in the name of helping your subscribers? That's what you are going with? Unsubscribe from this coward who ran from a righteous fight.
You’re a weirdo bro? You think this man is John Wick? Why should he risk his life and freedom fighting with a group of gang members? Police exist for a reason. 🤡
Hugs to you! I'm so very sorry. 😢 I have to say your Option #1 sounded pretty darn good. Thank you for making these videos.

Glad you decided not to commit a crime and continue teaching, I’ve always wanted an Airbnb!
That’s horrible, a complete nightmare 😌 I’m glad everyone is okay, you made the right decision Mr. Sean we need you doing well!

That sounds like a true nightmare!
That's what you get when people don't have consequences for their actions and don't appreciate law enforcement.
Been a while since I’ve checked in on Airbnb Sean. He’s really let loose on the suit and tie look lol
It’s funny you mention that. Just wait for todays video.
Damn, I literally paused the video on 6:34 and sat my ass down to listen to the story. It was so intense. Sorry you had to go through this Sean.
Omg... housekeeper beaten?That is brutal.

It's a scary thought
Years before the defund movement, Philly cops have always operated this way.

Such a sad reality
The B rolls was on point with this one lol
The young has caused so much disaster in the communities.
No, their parents raised them. Adults voted for liberal policies that support crime. It starts with us.
Edited to fix typo.
@@truthbetold6942 that's true

Oh my goodness.😢..I'm so sorry.
Omg, this is super sad!
It really is. I went a long time before deciding to talk about it. Was unsure.
That’s crazy!!!

Why list the address?
And they say it's easy to be an Airbnb host

What demographic is / was causing 95% of the crime???
Won't answer that, his content pushes miscegenation
Pretty sure anyone who isn't naive would know the answer
Why that is obvious. 13%.
