      @@MrPaolosio Hi Paul, 32GB! Thermal throttling is still bad, just need to use it on low performance mode and the system will throttle the cpu automatically.
      a big issue i have had is with the safe shutter webcam, my webcam is unable to open any longer for >3 months and despite being on pro support etc, dell has been unable to fix my pc due to the shortage & supply chain issues. something to keep in mind when you get a laptop from dell with safe shutter

      @@vishnt hiya, Sounds like experience with your 9420 hasn’t been great. I was hoping the bios update had solved/vastly improved the thermal throttling issue. Re webcam, surely if Dell can’t resolve they must replace the unit. No webcam, no MS Teams, no job! Thanks for sharing your experience. Reviews are great, but real life user experience over a relevant temporal scale is much sought after.

    For executives whom this laptop targets, the "most" compute intensive task would be online meetings with a VIRTUAL background or background blur. This is CPU/GPU intensive, and is known to make some poorly designed laptops to throttle so badly it becomes unusable.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +1

      Absolutely my thoughts @Laurence Liew as yours. I think I need to make a new custom or look for a benchmarking for usability in video conferencing alone to assess future computers that I get my hands on.

    This is an awesome laptop. I just grabbed one from the Dell outlet with Quadhd, 16gb and 256ssd for less than $1200 USD with 3years pro support. Very happy with the 16:10 display vs my 7410’s… 16:9… I wished the SSD was 2280… I’m having a hard time finding an affordable 512 ssd with the 2230 size…

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +1

      Wow you got this laptop for an amazing price!! I would have like to see the 2280 format available for the SSD too but internal real estate don't think made it possible. I think the 9520 will have the internal real estate for the 2280 size SSD.

    @BsianTech, thanks for fantastic and thorough review of this Dell ultra-premium laptop. It is a premium, solid-built quality laptop targeted for executives. One small disappointment is 720p HD IR webcam. I think, the quality of this webcam is OK, video is a bit blurry and it does not reach the "premium" level. For some reason Dell did not include 1080 FHD IR webcam with this premium model. I am ordering a one level down business 7420 business laptop model from Dell in aluminum finish, and they could not include the 1080 FHD IR webcam with that 7420 aluminum body either. Dell advised that 1080p FHD IR webcam is only available only for 7420 in carbon fiber finish (which is not my preference)

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +1

      Glad the review was useful for you @Cedrik B. The hard drive speed could be improve if you want to upgrade it using another brand hard drive as Dell doesn't offer outside of the Class 35 NVMe on the 9420. Also remember this is a Gen 3 PCIe NVMe. As far as speed goes there is room for improvement but this is pretty average for a Class 35 NVMe.

      @@BsianTech indeed. In fact I have today the 9430 that I bought last week. Despite the fact that it's meant to be a gen 4, performances are still ~3000 mB/s which is pretty disappointing . And m2 2230 vs 2280 considerably reduces the choice for a different drive as only (kioxia/Toshiba) seem to be available in that format as of today

    Hi, is the WLAN soldered to the board and is it possible to add it after purchase?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  2 года назад +1

      Hi @John Evans, the WLAN module isn't soldered to the board, its a slot so you can add it in later date.

    • @jocl8488
      @jocl8488 2 года назад

      @@BsianTech Of course the WLAN is soldered on the board - it is an Intel AX210. Only the WWAN isn't soldered, but you can't add it later, because when you order the Lat. 9420 without WWAN, it will have no WWAN antennas and also no SIM-tray. In this case, the internal WWAN port is useless. You can't install second ssd.
