We hear the intro and probably the ending, so it's hard to give an opinion now until we hear the full song. But this fragment of music and song is already stuck in your head.😵Thanks BB.

A couple of things I noticed. The Netflix Anime that Shambles became the closing theme of the second or whatever series. Had me watching from the beginning before Band Maid were heard. Now I can't say it was the sort of anime I would normally have watched. But I did and have purely on Band Maids involvement. As the closing theme can normally be ignored I am not sure how many people from outside the Maid Community would stay and listen to it. But I make a point of doing so and think it is the highlight of the episode. Secondly two of the new songs heard at the Yokahama concert. One was a Miku led song. The other was a very un Band Maid song about dancing to the beat. Annoyingly it has just stuck in my brain. As did what I heard of 'Protect You'. They are very good at putting that ear worm into the brain. While some songs wont advance the meaningful debate about music we fans like to have. However we will all just be happy to hum some of the new songs while we are out shopping without realising we are doing it.

I need to hear the whole song. I think what we've heard sounds closer to a sterotypical anime song than their other anime intros/endings (even Sense and Shambles). So far it hasn't grabbed me but I've had the same initial reaction to Band-Maid songs before and I always end up loving them.
I don't know anything about anime, but based on the viewing figures on both the Japanese and English trailers, it looks like Grendizer is pretty huge both domestically and internationally, and that the vast majority of people watching it are not Band-Maid fans.

With anime you only get a cut down version of the opening.or closing tune......There maybe more to than you get to hear. We know how much the ladies love changing tempos and throwing in unexpected genre bits..The full fat version may be more than you hear...I mean..there are MAID's tracks where you think..ok this is straight forward..then BAM!!!...WTF???...Hehehe!..It's a MAID signature.

If you look into Pony Canyon you'll see a decent part of their business in in Anime and video games. Im beginning to think PC is pushing BM into providing songs for Anime as a way to market them into more main stream (younger) demographic.

Glay, the band that does opening for the anime is/was huge in Japan, as the band have done a 200K audience live show back in 1999, probably the Japanese record for most audience numbers in single band / single live show.

Side note.....I loved Daniel Craig as Bond....Old enough to have seen them all..But once the Craig era finished..I feel I have had the best of the Bond franchise....I can't see any replacement making me want to go see any new Bond....BUT!..saying that....In my head..I am wishing so hard for BAND-MAID to be asked to do the opening title track for the new Bond series...MAN!!...I'd be first inline for a ticket just to see the opening!...And if they got to make an appearence? (a la "KATE").....Dream stuff man!.

I'm waiting for the whole song to listen. I'm not crazy about their previous anime stuff. I was just thinking that whenever a reactor listens to Japanese music (any) for the first time they always say "it sounds like anime". So Any Japanese music can wind up in anime. So why do B-M anime songs sound different than their normal releases? ( I did listen to all the video and know you asked the same question)

Devoid of actual knowledge, my impression is that Miku was given a chance to make a band of her own choosing and wasn't forced into anything she wasn't happy with. Since then they have increasingly gone their own way (which is somewhat anti-trend - they tend to write in styles that are anywhere from 15 to 50 years "out of date"). I don't get the impression they are _against_ a producer dictating some aspect of a song to them; the intro to "Sense" for example. Kanami has said scoring movies is a personal goal. Movies are the ultimate collaboration. Characters and plots are a result of writers, directors, actors, costume designers, and on and on. If a producer selected them because they liked the "Band-Maid Style" (whatever that actually is) then give it to them. They're good at it! Whoever pays the piper picks the tune, as they say.

One minute of a Band-Maid song is barely enough to make a judgement, I'd need hear all of "Protect You" to truly comprehend it. A "typical" Band-Maid song has verses, choruses, pre-choruses, break-downs, tempo changes, maybe a key change or two, and perhaps several solos, all within three to four minutes. "There's a lot going on!" is the oft heard comment when a reviewer hears a Band-Maid song, particularly the first time they hear Band-Maid. The Maids keep experimenting and keeping things fresh. They pack more music into a short radio format song than most bands can manage on an entire album.
That's why I got so upset with Rick Beato when he dissed Band-Maid's "Choose Me" after barely hearing 20 seconds of it, claiming it had "No dynamics!" and "Too much compression!" If he had just listened for another few seconds he might have heard the first of the many change ups typical of Band-Maid's music. Band-Maid has found that magical, hard to find sweet spot where they create music that any listener can appreciate no matter how much attention they devote to it.

For some reason I thought of Babymetal when I heard the rapid-fire "la, la, la's" in Protect You. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. 😐

I can kind of see that lol! I don't think it's a dangerous thing until they start singing about confectionary and hire Yukarun to give them more choreography ;)
