- Today I decided to do a medley combining all American Venom versions, creating the ultimate John Marston theme

In my personal opinion I think everything in RDR2 is perfect, from the characters to the soundtrack.
The soundtrack wasn't perfect, not because it wasn't good but because it was never played enough when just free roaming

RDR1 is still THE western game. I don’t get that same feeling with RDR2, but it’s still an amazing game.

One sided character development that just goes, "wow he bad but now he good!! So awesome!!" Just doesn't do it for me. The story ended at a good pace and time imo, so I don't think it needed much of a continuation.
I used the war horse the whole game and when Jack said that I would always feel pain in my heart
I recently started replaying rdr1 because when I first played it I was 6 and way too young to understand anything other than "Cowboy cool". I grew up playing this. Really hope they make that remake as long as it is stays as the same exact story.
Maybe some rare mentions of Arthur or someone else in the gang, and some character changes to, for example, Javier to make him less insane.

@@cl1p The only place a mention about Arthur would fit in the first game is when bill says “No more Dutch and no more you.” You could have him say “No more Dutch, No more Arthur and no more you” anymore and it would ruin the tone the first game is trying to portray. Loneliness is a key factor in RDR1 John has no one but Abigail, Jack and Uncle.
@DMRS: Servus Christi I mean, they really didn't make a bad job, in fact they did a great job with the prequel. I mean, wouldn't make sense for them to show Javier get crazy all so soon, the epilogue on rdr2 itself was only eight years later and rdr1 was even more years later! So obviously, only really later on would Javier get all crazed and stuff, same with Bill. Rdr1 is way, waaaay after rdr2's main campaign.
I've never really appreciated how well this was produced, with live orchestras and everything. You can even hear the clicks of the keys on the bass clarinet around 0:33

After beating American Venom just sat there watching the credits for like half an hour and you see HOW MANY PEOPLE worked on this masterpiece. It was insane

american venom was more than just revenge. it wasn't just about killing arthur's killer, it was about putting down a menace to society. remember the line about micah killing the little girl? about how micah kills innocent people?

I feel as though Jack could entirely afford the luxury of revenge, Arthur had sacrificed his life so that John could escape the outlaw’s life and live with his family only for John to get killed unjustly without rhyme or reason thus putting Arthur’s sacrifice in vain.
Life is not about being long, but about being happy. John lived 4 happy years. So arthurs death was not in vain

Clicking from Radioactive Rubber Pants's 2nd John Marston Medley to this, I saw this one comment, about how RDR2 was the story of the Dying West and Arthur's journey from shunned outlaw to this epiphany in the face of annihilation which turns him to try to save the ones he loved, redeem himself, so he could rest in peace when his time came. Which he did, if we go with the majority's options in RDR2's ending. Arthur understood that holding up the cowboy's six-shooter to the modern man's rifle was fruitless, and sought to break away from the anchor that would sink him to his fate, and when that became fruitless, focused on the Marston family in a last-ditch attempt, which worked at the cost of his life, which he was content with. He'd won at that point, it was up to the survivors now.
Beautiful enough, right? Their point on RDR1 is what pushed me to write this, though. It was along the lines of RDR1 being the story of an already Dead West, and John's mission to bite the bullet, and sacrifice himself in order to save the ones he loved. Interestingly, the OP mentions how John sought not redemption, but security in burying the past for good, knowing his family could enter life free of the struggle that Arthur and John foresaw, even if it took him down with it. They talk about how it was how he was so content when quite literally at the doorway to death.
What seals this together is OP's final statement, which I remember clear as day, word for word.
"Arthur was always a cowboy and an outlaw
But through to 1911 John was truly the last cowboy"
I don't agree with this. Instead, this is my take.
Arthur was an outlaw, and became his own man during his last hours, not the product of Dutch Van Der Linde, but a free man. And he was the first to realize this and die with this knowledge of the Dying West.
Dutch died at the realization of this fact.
And John was the last cowboy of the Van Der Linde's to go, knowing this. He died with the understanding that with his death meant freedom for the future.
It's why when he speaks to Joe in American Venom, it holds so much more weight than simply Sadie and Charles.

"Just me."
Summed up: Arthur was the first, John was the last.
As for Jack, it's implied that he became a writer after fighting in WW1, which came after Ross's killing. That's all I got. Have a good one fellas.

Yes because Micah would have been the one sent to kill all former gang members. If the pinkertons can find the location of other gang members (through other people) I’m sure they would be able to find John. Doesn’t matter that he killed Micah

I don't know what John has, that even after all these years he is still my 1st my favorite character in video games. John is a badass dad who would protect you from anything and Arthur is the best friend you could have, giving you the best life lessons
John is a Great character but Arthur was in my opinion a bit better because u connected whit him more and Arthurs Voice actor did an amazing job like alot better than most movie actors but i understand Why u like John more hes also an amazing character and the Voice actor for John did very good too

John Marston.
A man almost constantly on a mission, a family man- a man of flawed morality, and as such this is what made him so human.
The years 1897 through 1911 are the times that made his life what it would be remembered as.
An outlaw on the run.
A bounty hunter, betrayed by the ones that once hunted him.
Within his time he saw many people, things, events and wonders of the West.
And after all that, family was the thing that came first for John.
He knew good people, ran with the bad- and recognized the ugly.
When Marstons time came, he knew that he did all he could muster from a feeble, orphaned beginning- to a courageous, rebellious outcry of an end.
His son, Jack- the one he told to not follow his footsteps, would be the one to brutally avenge him.
But even after all of that, John Marston never truly found his Red Dead Redemption.
Those first instruments highlight the heroism of Marston despite his previous criminal activities. A song truly fitting the last outlaw gunslinger.

Red Dead is literary. The story of both Redemption 1 and 2 can mostly only be found in novels and books. This is why Red Dead is not comparable to Grand theft Auto because of its theme. Sure Grand theft Auto is one of the greatest games to be ever made but it doesn't hold a candle to the bigger Rockstar masterpiece.
This makes me wonder, how does Rockstar create masterpieces only?

I like how in rdr2 the version of John's theme is a lot more badass and aggressive sounding, while in rdr1 it sounds slower and tired to signify that John's story is reaching its end
Makes sense that American venom sounds exactly like John's theme, he thought he escaped his past life with the gang but in reality his criminal past is poison that ate him away for years, killing him in the end

I hate to burst your bubble but the cowboy era was dangerous as shit, most people died young and people got robbed often. Medicine was hard to find and expensive, so most people just up and die when they get a disease

Its been 3 years and i started boring gaming.
I have played so many games after and before rdr2.
I fell like i would never find a better game than this
Yeah nothing can ever live up to RDR2, until GTA 6 comes out at least. Only rockstar can top rockstar. I still enjoy the older AC games, kinda enjoyed Valhalla, but that's about it. Kingdom Come deliverance comes close to filling that detailed open world gap but it's very clunky and unpolished
