Our latest cost of living video Public interview. We asked Caymanians and expats, how much they paid for Rent ,Groceries and Utilities. ruclips.net/video/V1zPkN_iC0c/видео.html
The good thing about our Cayman Islands is that ppl who come here to work can afford to pay rent/utils, buy food etc and still send money back to their country, because the salary is good. It is Cayman dollars, you earn it here so spend it and enjoy yourselves while here. Welcome and do enjoy our Beautiful Cayman Islands
You are right i need to live in a beautiful peaceful christian place i feel a connection there i am a Christian a b d have met a Christian friend in the cayman islands on tve internet s g evis a hair stylist. J would live to visit ger sometimes
A dollar is a dollar anywhere you live you can’t really compare it to another country You can survive anywhere once you have a steady /great income I love y’all tho beautiful family ❤️🙏 sending love from the states 🇺🇸
It seems like grocery is expensive no matter where you live although it depends on what you are buying. I live in the US and buying Jamaican products are more expensive as should be expected. But renting an apartment or house sounds cheaper where I am than in the Caymans which is shocking I didn’t know it was so expensive there. Great vid guys👍🏾
The cost to living ratio has to be equal, so the pay or work situation must equate. I can’t imagine moving anywhere which is worse than where I came from (at least based on personal experiences)...so what convinced you to move? This was a very interesting vlog💕
For some the cost of living ratio does not equate, tis why they share accommodation not by choice but because they would like to save.... We talk about jobs and income in part two.... Cayman is not their final stop! For others the cost of living ratio equates, in some cases their income more than surpasses their living expenses. Permanent residency is not a must, you can only apply after 8 to 9 years of living in the island.....and if you are a permanent work permit holder it may or may not be renewed after two years....we spoke on this too.. We do not regret moving to the Cayman islands,it's a great country and provides opportunity to save more than what you would save if you were to be working in your home country, despite the living situation ...sharing accomodation etc... Because mosts expats are planning to return home, they make the necessary sacrificies for a better living for when they return home. As the Jamaican proverb say,if you want good, yuh nose affi run! Meaning sometimes we have to put ourselves in less than comfortable situations for a better future! Besides the beaches are divine, beautiful and free and make up for any uncomfortableness😂

U are now living in the Cayman Islands and earning Cayman dollars (CI) so why are you comparing the Jamaican equivalent of cost???? I lived in the Cayman Islands for 18 years as a single mom and I survived and enjoyed the beautiful island. Bouy you are really selling the island short with ur lack of experience. Hi Violet thanks for your comment! You do realize that we did say that the Cayman Islands is a beautiful place to live right? And spoke about some of the attractions as well! Really sorry that your interpretation from the video was us selling the island short! We are merley speaking facts and was comparing it to Jamaican cost of living soley because we have friends and family back home who would like to come to Cayman to work, as such they would be better able to understand the cost of living in comparison to Jamaican cost of living. Regardless of their income not everyone is going to be employed or employed in that position. In San Francisco, a software engineer can make 180k but that doesn't justify the 3k studio... Min wage is what really counts because not everyone is going to be a software engineer.
@@terrybernard9351 I agree with you, "a dollar is a dollar in every man's country." And that is precisely why doing a comparison as being done in this video is misleading - even if Cayman proves to be an "expensive" country. You have to consider how much of your "disposable income" is available as your "expendable income;" i.e. how much you have available to you after deductions to take care of your needs and essentials within the country of earnings. And because the Jamaican dollar is a mere fraction of the CI dollar, then doing what I call a "surface comparison" of commodity costs would not effectively convey the true cost of living in one country versus the other. As an example: A teacher living and working in Cayman could take 1 year of her salary and go to Jamaica for a year and live comfortably. And it would not be because Jamaica is cheaper, but rather that her expendable income gives her a huge advantage. Consider the reverse; a Jamaican teacher living and working in Jamaica and decides to take a year's salary and go live on that salary in Cayman for a year; not even rent she could afford, let alone all other essential expenses.

Yes , unfortunately relocation can be a pain.
And I thought it was expensive in Jamaica wow ...30days visa like seriously now...

Hey guys how are you. Question ❓ is it mandatory for person's entering the country on work permit to be vaccinated?
The government is leaning towards doing that and same may be likely soon, but it has not been finalized as yet.
It is basically like the same price like Jamaica. You want to talk about expensive, ‘Bermuda’ is the killer
I live in the Cayman Islands, my light bill is on average $800usd, dinner last night for my wife and I was $125usd and movie tickets was another $70usd. It's expensive here
Lol
I just came across your videos can you do a video on jobs do you know of social work jobs if it is of high request there
Thank you for watching please see below the video on jobs

You can also check the Cayman compass website for current job openings.
How did you get your driver's license
We went to and
applied at one of the Department of Vehicle & Drivers' Licensing (DVDL) offices for an appointment for a theory test of driving knowledge. You will get 40 minutes to answer 40 multiple choice questions (on a touch screen computer) of which you must get 80% correct.A driving test was not required for us Jamaicans providing that we did the driving test mentioned above within 3 to 6 months being on island. Not sure of the exact time frame.
Can you relocate to Cayman during the pandemic?
Yes with certain requirementsl!
If you are on a work permit, you will be required to quarantine at a government facility/ hotel for 14 working days come October when the border will be opened for specific persons, Caymanians,Status Holders, work permit holders, home owners and wealthy persons who can afford to work exclusively from Cayman.
You will have to get two negative Covid results before being released!
No visitors are allowed during this time!
The government is also considering giving individuals ankle bracelet where they can home quarantine for the two weeks instead !
Hope this helped!
