Some Saying of Holy Mother
:
God is one’s very own. It is an eternal relationship.
Ordinary human love results in misery. Love for God brings blessedness.
One who makes a habit of prayer will easily overcome all difficulties.
As wind removes the cloud, so the Name of God destroys the cloud of worldliness.
My child, you have been extremely fortunate in getting this human birth. Have intense devotion to God. One must work hard. Can one achieve anything without effort? You must devote some time for prayer even in the midst of the busiest hours of the day.
Do the Master’s work, and along with that practise spiritual disciplines too. Work helps one to keep off idle thoughts. If one is without work, such thoughts rush into one’s mind.
One must perform work. It is only through work that the bondage of work will be cut asunder and one will acquire a spirit of non-attachment.
One should always discriminate and strive hard for the realization of God.
Even water, which has a natural tendency to flow downwards, is drawn up to the sky by the sun’s rays. In the same way, God’s grace lifts up the mind which has got a tendency to run after sense objects.
Through spiritual disciplines the ties of past karma are cut asunder. But the realization of God cannot be achieved without ecstatic love for him.
It is idle to expect that dangers and difficulties will not come. They are bound to come. But for a devotee they will pass away under the feet like water.
Can you call a person who is devoid of compassion a human being? He is a veritable beast.
I tell you one thing - if you want peace, do not find fault with others. Rather see your own faults. Learn to make the whole world your own. No one is a stranger, my child; the whole world is your own.
When a man sees defects in others, his own mind first gets polluted. What does he gain by finding faults in others? He only hurts himself by that.
All teachers are one. The same power of God works through them all.
I am your true mother, a mother not by virtue of being your guru’s wife, nor by way of empty talk, but truly the mother.
I am the mother of the virtuous as well as the wicked.
If my son wallows in the dust or mud, it is I who have to wipe all the dirt and take him on my lap.
My son, if a thorn pricks your foot, it hurts me like a spear entering my heart. Never fear, and whenever you are in distress just say to yourself, “I have a mother”

Once I brought some tangerines to the service at the Vedanta Society on 71st st. In New York. One of the women told me to go into the basement dining room and offer them to Holy Mother. Not knowing what she meant, and thinking it was superstitious I went into the room. There on the west wall was a picture of Holy Mother. I ineptly offered the tangerines to the picture and instantly felt a very tiny sense that they were accepted and that the Holy Mother had ‘taken me on.’ At times subsequently during moments of difficulty I have had an impression that she was present. Atheists are certainly justified in calling this the product of imagination. Swami once said that she told a seeker that no one who comes to her goes to hell. I believe I have been spared some of the suffering my actions have merited through her love.
You are a truly blessed person. Whatever problem you face in your life tell it to the Holy Mother and she will solve it. Be it sooner or later. Have patience and feel her grace.
Dear Bill - Sometimes just sit infront of Holy Mother and talk with her the way you would talk to your own mother. Talk to her with all the happenings of your life both good and bad. Do it every day or night and I am sure you will feel her presence and her existence.

With due respect to revered Maharaj, I would like to differ with his observation that Swamiji would have refused to do what the Holi mother used to do all her life. It would be then self - contradictory for Swamiji.
In his conversation with Sarat Chakraborty, Swamiji said, he would gladly follow his brother disciples if they asked him to clean the drain of Belur Math.
Then, in his address to the brahmacharins and sannyasins at Belur Math, before his second visit to the West Swamiji said, the monks would have do be ready to do all works in the Math gladly. They would study scriputers, debate on it, practise sadhana, then
till the land, grow vegetables and go to market to sell them.
So, it means everything which was required to be done to keep the Math moving is within the gamut of spiritual practices and all would be ready to do it.
How could Swamiji deny it if was it was really essential for him to do? Swamiji preached what he practised, and not a hollow sound box merely repeating somebody else's teachings .
This compartmentalisation of work has created all privileges in society. Swamiji was against this kind of privileges. Then Nivetida told about Swamiji's teachings ,henceforth there would be no difference between sacred and secular. How could Swamiji do otherwise?
Perhaps this is the reason why the Babu culture crept into our society. Definitely Swamiji was not encouraging the same to be continued!
