Just love Lily's reactions. This was an histroric performance by Judith and the boys doing their stuff in front of the largest crowd ever gathered together in one place in the southern hemisphere! That record stands unchallenged to this very day.
Love your reactions Lilly, you have a good feeling for good music, while many think that old music is dumb, I say who cares, older songs are the best, sir, have her listen to Roy Orbison
Judith had a fantastic voice, no other female singer can sing like her, she could sing any song and make it sound just awesome 👍Great reaction as always guys
You watched it....at last! 😄. Lilly started to bop along & had a smile on her face. Even her reaction at the end; she raised her arms & shouted, "it's great!" The only thing I'd have to say against this song is, it is too short!
This is a great song ! A big No 1 hit in the UK in 1965 and it reached No 2 in the USA in 1967 I believe . The film that it was the soundtrack to was great as well . Lily really liked it , she has good taste ☺
I agree with Lilly! I hope you and she have fun selecting more music. I was five or so when this song first came on the radio and have been a fan ever since. Cheers.
Thank You for sharing this Seekers song with your granddaughter. Here, in Australia, fans are gathering at Hammer Hall in Melbourne for a state funereal for the late Judith Durham. Thanks, again. BL. 🤝
One of my favourite Seekers songs. Also a very good film with a terrific cast. I first saw it in the early 1970s, late one night on a coach that had a small 12V powered B/W TV at the front of the coach. That early scene where Georgy has her hair done, hates it and goes into a public toilet to wash it all out really struck me at the time. Maybe show the film to Lilly when you think she is old enough. As well as great music from past decades there are classic films and TV shows that deserve to be seen by young people growing up today.
That farewell concert was at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in 1967. The powers that be estimated the crowd was 200 000, a record that has never been beaten.
I assume you mean never beaten in Australia, because obviously there have been much much bigger music concert crowds. I believe the highest ever was to see Rod Stewart, where they estimated the crowd to be over 3.5 million.
Not a farewell concert. The shock of Judith deciding to leave the Seekers did not happen until over a year later in mid 1968 with numerous other concerts at venues after the Sidney Myer Music Bowl Melbourne concert in March 1967. Everyone at that free 1967 concert expected the Seekers would continue on for ever since they were so successful.
@@Lilly8Listens It was the largest concert attendance in the Southern Hemisphere at the time. Melbourne had a population of just over 2 million then (it is 5 million now). It is reported by some sources to be an unbroken record to this day, but that can't be right because the Rod Stewart concert in Rio was over 3.5 million as you stated. But Rio has a population of 12 million, so larger crowds are inevitable. The Seekers record certainly hasn't been beaten in Australia, but the population of the whole continent today is only 26 million. To put that into perspective, the population of UK is 67 million in an area 32 times smaller than Australia! (Mainland USA is roughly the same size as Australia but has a population of 335 million). But what I find most baffling is that 3.5 million people would actually want to attend a Rod Stewart concert without being forced at gunpoint! Must be something in the water in Rio...
When i was a kid there was another band out called the New Seekers, not sure if they were any relation to the original Seekers but i remember they had a few catchy songs out.
Keith Potger of the original Seekers was devastated by the 1968 breakup and was behind the formation of the New Seekers behind the scenes and a few times played with them but mainly wrote songs and managed them to a large extent.
You’d really enjoy their song Emerald City on RUclips, choose the one with scenes from Oz and the tune is one of Beethoven’s pieces, it’s enchanting ❤️❤️
It's wonderful that you can share your old music memories with your granddaughters. My favourite song by them is All Over the World. ruclips.net/video/luqK_Dz1kz4/видео.html It wasn't a hit and it was originally written and done in French by Francois Hardy. It's from their Georgie Girl album.
Remember when this song was played all the time on the radio. Great fun tune!

When the stars begin to fall is another good one.
I just listened to this the other day. I agree with Lilly ... Great tune.
I was four when this was a hit and it's one of the earliest songs I can remember hearing on the radio. Love that Lilly can hear it as a kid.
Always reminds me of Carnaby Street in the 60s ….love it

Great reaction you two! Keep up the great work!

Love it!
I have an 8 year old friend that loves to listen to music from the 60s too! He actually liked “Wipeout” by the Surfais. Had Lily heard of that song!

I'd love to show her films, but sometimes I think of a film, and then remember a certain scene and think No, she's way too young to be seeing that.
Love your interactions with each other! I could imagine taking a leisurely stroll through a park with the 3 of you.

I think Lilly might like Keith West, Excerpt from a Teenage Opera, a huge song when I was 11 years old

Jack loves this song!! Great choice.
Try listening to teddy bears picnic?

A really good video. But you're almost spoiling Lilly. ... She's hearing and seeing great musicians actually doing great music. Very rare today.
