I agree, November and December is the perfect amount of time for the overlay. It's crazy that a Haunted Mansion is taken away during Halloween. Makes no sense.
I personally wish Jack Skelington 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃had it's own Halloween themed area! People love those characters! I want the Haunted mansion back! I'm so tired of them hijacking it! ✨️✨️However if there going to do it anyways maybe putting the holiday overlays earlier might 🤔 make it so it's not as crowded!
I can understand it for this year. They either opened it up the way it was or opened it up in the original style for 2 weeks then shut it for the switch.
Yep, I don't see a viable alternative. The ride closed down in a Christmas theme, so it would have been 2 weeks of them redoing stuff before opening, followed by being open for a couple weeks followed by a couple weeks of being closed again in order to retheme back to Christmas. As much as I'd like to see the regular theming, that seems rather unreasonable and something that would just make other fans unhappy.
I love both Haunted Mansion and Haunted Mansion Holiday. Riding either makes me so happy. 1. Please please give us a new cool bride animatronic 2. Please please do NOT make the hitchhiking ghosts digital projections. Digital can never match the charm and effectiveness of practical effects.
I saw some speculation that they’ve already made the switch in the comments of a ride through video, just because of the way some of the Holiday replacements were fading in next to people rather than appearing like they’re rotating on the contraption they usually do. Idk if those observations hold any water though, can’t say I remember the way they appeared in your car in the past lol
The best way to add new things and update the mansion is to go back to the original imagineer concepts and ideas that weren't used I think that's brilliant!
I also noticed that the hanging Ghost Host is still in the Holiday intro- either they didn't bother to update it, or maybe it means that scene will remain unchanged? @@kdusel1991 But I’d feel bad for those people who only get to go to Disney once every few years, and want to go on the haunted mansion, only to get haunted mansion holiday, as Disney world as more international tourists, and less locals
Yes and at least this should be a one off as they shouldn't need to have such an extended closure again any time soon. If it happens again, it'll be something along the lines of gutting most of the inside and I don't expect that.
During construction, you get what you get. It’s a fantastic idea to put the holiday theme up if that means they can keep it running during construction.
Yes, you get what you get during massive construction, so I’d rather save the big bucks and not go. And yes, they could have put the classic mansion up for the ardent fans, but were obviously trying to save money. So I’ll save my money too.
If Haunted Mansion Holiday started on November 1st I'd have no problem with it. However, having it open all the way through spooky season, is ridiculous. It's the best haunted house in the world and having it Christmas themed is like walking into Wal-Mart in August and seeing Christmas decorations. It's so annoying.
I agree, at this point, Nightmare should just have it's own ride, or limit it to Nov and Dec. Personally I think a dark water ride would be the way to go.
As you may recall (from PARK RIDE HISTORY aka THEME PARKS SHOULDN'T EXIST) they DID try boats right after Pirates before the omnimovers-dune buggies-er,again, DOOM buggies.
I mentioned this before; the Disney folks should separate the Haunted Mansion, and the NBC. Move NBC to California Adventure, or whatever proposed new resort area, as a standalone attraction. You keep the Haunted Mansion, year round, and you keep NBC, year round. No attraction shutdowns for overlays, and everybody will the happiest of haunted campers, with the best of both spooky worlds, year round.
Makes sense in a way. Disneyland is starting “Halloween Time” in August this year. I must say I like what they did with Mansion que so far. The new fountain and bird bath are pretty cool. And yeah, I love seeing Krusty on the “JACK” in the box.
I'm going to Disneyland for my first and most likely last time in about 6 days and this is genuinely the worst news I could have gotten. I've been obsessed with the haunted mansion for a long time and getting to see the original was a big deal for me.... but now it's gonna be holiday. For locals its just a minor annoyance, but for me it's a lifelong dream crushed
I'm curious how that happened, did you not plan, or did you just assume like a lot of people did that it would be normal theming because it's not quite to the normal part of the year for Christmas? Either way it does suck, and I'm not super thrilled about being there for another Christmas Haunted Mansion, but I'll make due. Personally, I prefer the HK equivalent Mystic Manor, it's just a lot more fun for me at this point with things like multiple paths through the attraction.
Why on earth should it have to be for the last time? Airlines do cheap round trip deals all the time if you book ahead of time, and if you plan ahead and go to DL when it's not busy season, the pricing is better. Just make a plan and stick with it, don't let this be the end of your hopes of seeing the proper Haunted Mansion! You can do it, I believe in you!
But it is a seasonal film... unless they wanted to make it a "seven holidays" ride where each door gets featured at some point. We don't get to see the other five holidays in the tree circle during the movie. And of course, the joke can be that the Halloween creatures are unintentionally scaring all the other characters they interact with. It would be cute, but I just don't see the seasonal draw of HMH.
@@nerdgurl402 If you built the right infrastructure and planned this from the beginning, a continuously changing seasonal ride would be a really cool thing.
I really wish they would maybe just do alternating years. I would actually book October trips if I knew "Oh it's going to be Haunted Mansion this year"
I am a fan of both versions of the rides, but I do feel like Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect bridge movie between Halloween and Christmas, and the ride should do that as well. I understand opening it up a little bit before Halloween for the vibes, but it definitely should be a mid-October to end of December special. I do appreciate them opening ANYTHING right now though, it’s honestly pathetic how little is open and they’re still charging normal ticket prices.
I have noticed from vloggers that the lighting is much better, and they used fresh paint on the Holiday overlay. It looks the best I have seen, and I have been going to it every Christmas since this started. The screen in the stretching room looked better as if they had created a new 4k version, at least in the videos I saw. I am also surprised at how many people are getting sick of this overlay. Every time I went, the line was insane, sometimes 80 minutes, but this year, I have seen more people annoyed by the overlay online, so I wonder how much longer it will stick around. I agree that it should open in November, not October, but I also get why they had to open it early due to construction stuff. People complaining this time is a bit silly because it makes sense this year that they had to open it as holiday.
I’ve always loved the haunted mansion holiday cause they’re no nightmare before Christmas rides in the parks and I love nightmare before Christmas so I’m not complaining it’s back!! 🎉🎉🎉
I couldn't agree more!!!! HM Holiday should run November- January, this whole August- January is a load of crap!!!! This is one reason why i prefer the magic kingdom's version because it doesn't get the overlay!
Know what I do hope gets changed in the Haunted Mansion before its return proper? I want them to add more to the seance room, make it feel more like, well, a room, add background elements like bookshelves or maybe we could see divination tools and potion ingredients and stuff. I'd also love to see them permanently uncover the room at the top of the stairs in the ballroom scene--only during HMH can we see that there's apparently a small library in there!
I was just at Disneyland and rode the haunted mansion. The ride did look good but man, July is too early for the Christmas overlay. And yes, it should just be for Nov and Dec. The hat box ghost was also not working. Also, Pirates needs to somehow get an extended queue, when that line is long it takes over all of the front of New Orleans Square.
I would admit haunted mansion holiday open here at towards the end of summer is a bit odd. On the other side of the coin, I’ve never been to Disneyland and so have never seen the haunted mansion in either version. I’m finally getting to go to Disneyland for my birthday this year and so am very happy for the haunted mansion holiday. Though if it were me, I would have timed the holiday makeover from mid October to January to cover both Halloween and Christmas the two holidays shown in A Nightmare Before Christmas.
I’m happy it’s back even though it’s not the original HM. If I can I’m willing to give it a chance. I Really can’t wait to see the original come back and what changes may be in store. I’m kind of nervous about it though because I grew up with the original ride for so many years and it’s so comfy and safe. HM is my favorite Disney ride 💗
It looks so good. I was in the parks the day it opened. I was in boarding group 100. It was so fun. The added moving walkway at the end was a suprise. I wish they had a better line system that day. They had literal scotch tape lines on hte ground and they were not made wide enough for my mobility aide to get around. Myself and another guest in line really struggled to get through. They also did not inform anyone that the exit had the moving walkway or ask guests with mobility aids if they could use it. I almost fell backwards trying to get on the thing with my crutches.
Overlay for HM should be for the Holidays. October, November, and December. I agree that this is a special situation that requires HM to be open. Disneyland tickets should also be discounted during major construction periods.
Ngl, I think they went back to HM holiday now because they never took it down after closing the ride back in January. Like everyone else says though, I hope it doesn't open this early next year
Connie looked bad when she debuted as the first full figure projection. I'm so happy to see her updated. I imagine she may be more like new Elsa or possibly Hattie. The main issue with her is she didn't have depth, which was a problem when her gimmick was manifesting the axe. Maybe they can do a mini pepper like with Hattie?
They do it during august/September because that's like the off month, they have to close it for 3 weeks to put it up and if they had to close it during November that wouldnt be good since November has alot of guests during that time period because of the holidays.
I like HMH, but I HATE it because it overrides the regular Haunted Mansion for 1/3rd of the year. Fall is the best time to go to the DLR, and I can't go on my favorite ride! JUSTICE FOR THE HAUNTED MANSION!! That all being said, I am excited for the updates, especially Constance! I hope we get a sneak peak at D23, but I'm not pinning my hopes on it. I will miss the hanging man, but I think removing him is the right call. If we get the physical full body animatronics of the hitchhiking ghosts and a projection in the mirrors, I'm ok with that. I would hope the space behind the mirrors where the animatronics were is being used to help with the DAS queue or some other kind of quality of life space for guests, CMs, or Imagineers. If the full body animatronics are gone, WE RIOT! (aka just feel sad a little bit)
I agree….its here way too early. They should have just waited until the queue and shop was completed. It’s a great themed attraction, but again, too soon. I have worked the D23 event in the past. It gets crazy, so pace yourself. I don’t believe that you could live stream, at least, not the panel discussions. Have fun.
There wasn't a viable alternative. It would have been 2 weeks of them redressing from the Christmas theming from when they closed it, having it open for a couple weeks and then closing it again to retheme it back to Halloween, which just is not viable when it's been closed for so long. Personally, I do prefer the normal theming as this does kind of get a bit old over time, especially for those of us that don't necessarily come at various times of the year.
7:30 I was thinking about it. If the Candle man will make a permanent appearance in the House, what if he can be placed in the Seance Room with Madame Leota? He could act like a vessel or Conduit, and being one of the earliest signs of the Spirits Materializing.
I definitely agree that November and December would be perfect times to have the holiday overlay. July is entirely too early. But I’m ngl, if I was going to Disneyland and saw Haunted Mansion open after seeing so many vloggers passing a wall almost all year, I’d be over the moon about it being open regardless 😂
@@ghosty4 Best crowd sizes, best Southern California weather to be outside all day, easiest time to get time off work, best park decorations and lights, minimal ride closures. There are way too many reasons to go at that time.
I agree with you! Original haunted mansion is the favorite ride of many! Why take it away from people? NBC is just too cartoony and Christmasy for me! Give me the spooky mansion and the magic touch of the original imagineers! I’m not going to spend the big bucks to go to Disneyland when my favorite ride has been turned into a cartoon that I never really liked. As for the person who suggested you go at another time, he’s probably a 10 year old kid who’s never had to plan a family vacation.
We agree that July is WAY too early for the overlay. We also agree that the need to open it with so many other things down was necessary. LOVE the Marc and Alice Davis homage. We had the great pleasure of meeting her and spending time with her, Tony Baxter, and Marty Sklar on a cruise. They were all great but she was a peach.
I'm happy it's open at all and I understand the logic behind the decision to keep HMH up from last year. As Fresh Baked reported, it looks like we *might* get to keep the hanging Ghost Host which would be awesome. And I'm not a bit sorry to see projection-mannequin Constance go. I just hope that whatever they replace her with will be at least as eerie as the original Beating Heart Bride and not some foray into Phantom Manor territory. We don't need a mini-narrative within the ride.
Why has Disney not made a proper Nightmare Before Christmas ride yet? It's clearly an attractive IP, this overlay is super popular! Imagine a proper dark ride: You first enter Halloween Town and meet Jack who tasks you of inviting 'Sandy Claws' to a Christmas Party in Halloween, but on the way through the clearing you get knocked off course by the three kids and go through Easter Town, causing a huge commotion, then you finally go through Christmas and invite Santa, and finish by going back to Halloween, this time all festooned for Christmas and the inhabitants of the other holidays are there too celebrating togther.
Also keep in mind that the regular Haunted Mansion closes down mid-August to do the two week switch into its Holiday overlay. With them opening end of July, the ride would’ve only been open for two weeks before they have to close down for the overlay again, so it makes more sense to open Holiday a few weeks early than to have people complain that the original was only back for 2 weeks.
Great video.. but why wouldn’t it be open in November… “nightmare before Christmas” is Halloween. Hello? Halloween town!!!Halloween starts in October… the real dates for holiday overlay should be October 1st -December 31st. Great video, even if you are wrong by 1 month ;)
Graphs are an expected function, something that makes Notion look outdated. By hiding it behind a paywall, Notion signals they are no longer trying to keep up with competitors.
I honestly love both versions so for me it's perfectly fine. My problem is with those who hate the holiday version and feel the need to be hostiles towards those who like it. I get it, you don't like haunted mansion holiday but being a jerk to those who like it won't change anything other than make that person look immature.
What's most important is the Haunted Mansion gift shop. It was probably driving them crazy that guests exited the HM without having a merch store. The person hanging in the stretching room may not be there.
I have a Disneyland & DCA trip for the Wednesday after labor day and was already kinda chuffed about the Halloween stuff going up end of August. I would have preferred regular Haunted Mansion for my visit. And yet, I’m still gonna be joining the virtual queue at 7 am
Hey, I really love both versions of the Haunted Mansion. I honestly thought it was a permanent thing because we always went in October. Then, when I started watching RUclips, about 5 or 6 years ago, we found out that the Nightmare before Christmas was just a temporary overlay. We were so happy about that. We're probably waiting for the regular HM to go. I wanted to go to D23 for my birthday this year, but we couldn't afford it. Oh, and I had wondered what happened to that awesome ride that went around Tomorrowland? I also found out about how the People Mover was destroyed. It was one of my favorite rides in Tomorrowland. Bring it back, Disneyland, please.
I agree, November and December is the perfect amount of time for the overlay. It's crazy that a Haunted Mansion is taken away during Halloween. Makes no sense.

I agree. We went in the fall. So my kids have never been on classic Haunted Mansion.
How do you not have a “bring back the people mover” shirt yet
I Wish the Magic Kingdom could at least have the Haunted Mansion Holiday or Any Other Holiday Overlays for their Rides
They should put the peppers ghost effect on the bride like the Blue Fairy on the Pinocchio ride
7:30 I was thinking about it. If the Candle man will make a permanent appearance in the House, what if he can be placed in the Seance Room with Madame Leota?
He could act like a vessel or Conduit, and being one of the earliest signs of the Spirits Materializing.
That would be awesome
I definitely agree that November and December would be perfect times to have the holiday overlay. July is entirely too early. But I’m ngl, if I was going to Disneyland and saw Haunted Mansion open after seeing so many vloggers passing a wall almost all year, I’d be over the moon about it being open regardless 😂
As someone who only goes during the holiday season, I haven’t ridden the original Haunted Mansion in over a decade and I hate Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Well, stop only going during the holiday season.
I love how you said you wanna everybody’s opinions even if they’re wrong! 😂 😅
Thank Baxter!
They are TOTALLY gonna use a hologram like the dancers or even a figure like hatbox ghost🙌 The bride's my CHARACTER, so Im hopeful and excited🤞🏻😍
Or they could have put the original up and kept it up until November when it’s actually the Christmas season.
Great video.. but why wouldn’t it be open in November… “nightmare before Christmas” is Halloween. Hello? Halloween town!!!Halloween starts in October… the real dates for holiday overlay should be October 1st -December 31st. Great video, even if you are wrong by 1 month ;)
Nothing is more Halloween than an actual haunted mansion/house.
Yes!
To Grandpa Marc & Alice! 😢 I love it!
What's most important is the Haunted Mansion gift shop. It was probably driving them crazy that guests exited the HM without having a merch store.
The person hanging in the stretching room may not be there.
I find it funny how haunted mansion reopened on my birthday. But I actually went to Disneyland on the 27th. On the 29th, I had to go to band camp.
I have a Disneyland & DCA trip for the Wednesday after labor day and was already kinda chuffed about the Halloween stuff going up end of August. I would have preferred regular Haunted Mansion for my visit.
And yet, I’m still gonna be joining the virtual queue at 7 am
At the end of the attraction, Oogie Boogies treats that follow you aren't physical props this year
Hey, I really love both versions of the Haunted Mansion.
Preach preach preach
going to disneyland for the first time next week so as someone whos never rode holiday im honestly excited to see it
Hopefully they speed up work on the queue!
The overlay should only be around for the winter season. It shouldnt arrive more than a week or two earlier than Small World Holiday
I feel that NBC deserves its own ride, it's very popular and I think it will do very good.
new haunted mansion is WOOHOO!! (minus the hanging man being removed)
HMH rocks. And TNBC deserves its own dedicated year-round E-Ticket attraction.
I enjoyed both verison myself
Waaay to early. But it makes the hype for the classic mansion's return more fun.
I want Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disney World!
Nightmare before Christmas encompasses both Christmas and Halloween that is why it's so ling
