The beef between Mc Lytle and Antoinette was also about a beat. Mc Lyte says it in the hook of 10% diss. "Beat biter, dope style taker. Tell it to your face you're nothing but a faker". Audio Two's Top Billing vs Antointte's I Got An Attitude both used the Impeach The President break beat chopped. So basically the went to war over a break beat which is kinda crazy
really impressed by the focused versatility of your channel. Been subbed for a while now and its great to say the focus stay on beats but also spreading your wings to different facets of beat making - tutorials, courses, history lessons you name it. Love it all sir, great job.
Kanye West's first major placement wasn' t on Blueprint it was on That J.D. album I can't think of the album name offhand but it was definitely his first he was paid 5K. Edit: The Album was called Life in 1472 the song was called Turn It Out Jermaine Dupri ft Nas. That's his 1st major placement.
This makes the beef relatable. My friends beat me to a "nice business opportunity" when we were teens. They heard about it separately and got there first but I took it like Cam'ron and ended up snaking some of it away for myself later. Luckily ours didn't escalate to shooting but this video allowed me to see Jay-Z vs Camron beef through my own life. Thank you!
i believe kenny beats said that you need to do what's the best for the beat, not necessarily the artist. If they tell you they're gonna use the beat but it's been a few months, there has been no action taken and you really want it to get placed, probably a good idea to send it over to someone else. Just think about how many beats got lost because someone "claimed them", whatever that means. Until it's released, the beat only belongs to the producer
damn, how dit you know all this stuff? i watched many video from you, and every time i wonder how you recreate all these beats and know how they was made. its a miracle.
But this is a good video. I didnt know Izzo was supposed to go to Cam first. That's crazy but I think Jay sounded better on it than Cam would anyway and vice versa with Oh Boy
Hey Nav awesome video! What video of yours do you breakdown what happened to that boy? I remember watching it a while back but I can't find it. Thank you
Dang thats funny I didn’t even catch that being the sample all these years😄 tbh probably cause of how history played out, jay did izzo plenty of justice so im koo with it and oh boy still a banger so. Nice piece of history
Learned later on that Just Blaze did the "Girls, Girls, Girls" beat but didn't know he also did the "Oh, Boy" beat. I'm gonna have to check out his production discography now.
Similar thing happened to pump it up. Jay passed on it, beans passed on it. Then Joe budden got and wanted Jay to get on it but Jay charged a price he knew no new artist could pay (250k) and Jay went and diss Joe on the mixtape version. And Joe slaughtered Jay on the comeback. A lot of people hate Joe so most never heard it. But if you listen, he ripped Jay much worst than nas did.
I know it's part of the industry, but if you show someone a beat first and they claim it, it seems a little unfair to then show the same beat to someone else without honoring the first person's claim to it.
I mean, beefing over who gets to pick beats from batches made by Just Blaze, Kanye, Bink and Heatmakerz is not really that surprising. The Roc had the most solid producer roster of any label at the time.
Truthfully you never know what may not have been if either beat was used for the initial artist. Cam on IZZO was probably not as good and Jay-z on OH BOY was probably not as good so things happen for a reason and both artist made it and made Kanye and Just Blaze more prominent.
Navie D I knew Kanye before his fame he lived in the Hallmark downtown Newark back in 2000 the OTIS beat he got.from a producer who couldn't get it cleared i heard it and the whole building heard it cause he use to play it loud then 10 years past and Kanye claimed he made it in 15 minutes its a known fact in the hood down Newark .
