There are no musical instrument to measure Dimash range. It needed to create new one. In fact Dimash vocals are musical instrument itself, in my opinion, or in other words he uses his vocal like musical instrument. Thank you again for your generous and detailed reactions and love from Kazakhstan!

It could just be me but I feel that the the very gifted string player of the dombra.. that instrument played by a highly skilled player kind of reminds me of the range in depth of the vocals of dimash. As is different as his style of music just like how different that sound of that instrument is for some reason it automatically makes me think of dimash now so talented so gifted so unique 🌼🌻🪻🏵️💮🌸🪷🌷🌺🌹💐 I hope this wonderful man gets all of his flowers while he blesses the rest of the world with his humanity... Truly thank you dimash for your beautiful soul. And thank you the dears for getting the unknowns to realize they may have missed out on the unbelievable.

Dimash more often than not, will always create changes when he sings a song that he has not co writen/composed. A lot if his early work was co authored with Igor
Krutoy, the pianist that udually accompanies him.
    Gr8 job.

  • @susanbussey5000

Thanks again, Max, for your insightful analysis of Dimash’ song. You always hone in on the details absolutely correctly.
Dimash composed the music when he was 19 years old and a fellow student at his college composed the lyrics.
The D8 is not on the piano, it’s beyond the last key.
I wish you would react to the Tokyo Jazz 2020 versions of Samaltau and SOS. You haven’t reacted to Samaltau yet and this version is truly unique.
The version of SOS is again different from when he performed on Singer 2017, much more mature. I have heard seven different versions of SOS.
Each time he performs it, it is different in some way, but my favourite is the Tokyo Jazz one.
One thing I notice and wonder at, is Dimash’ ability to sing so powerfully when he is in a kneeling position and sometimes even bent over.
There is so much of his music I appreciate, but one other is the Adagio performance from the Singer, the Gloria Wu one.
Keep safe and well and please keep reacting to Dimash,
    Susan, a Dear from Canada.

In fact other performances of this are even better. Yes it is true that he co wrote this when he was in his late teens! In other songs, I've heard him throw in D7 but this is the only D8 so far. There is no D8 on a _standard_ piano; the highest note there is C8, so he exceeds it here by one whole tone. There are some extended pianos, though, that do include it.

Dimash composed the song and father (who is a poet) of one of his classmates wrote the lyrics based on his conversation with Dimash. There is an interview with him about writing Unforgettable Day somewhere on the youtube. The song is a bit sad, because she married someone else, which is very subtly indicated in the lyrics something like "you are .... to me so why would I give you to another?"

Yes, you are right. It’s reminiscing about the days when he fell in love. Then as the music comes to a climax, he sings out that one crucial desperate sentence: so how could I let you go to another?
Very well explained, the bit about Dimash’s ability to give more nuanced intensity! 👍👍👍🌷

I'm pretty sure it's 88 keys on the standard full-size piano I'm also pretty sure he touched every damn key on the piano and off of it I think you might need a piano with 108 keys to even compete with dimash vocals

Hi Max - My favorite line of your review video was when you said "One thing I know, is that not everything can be explained when it comes to Dimash". I had to chuckle because that's a very accurate statement and we love Dimash for his unbelievable & unexplainable talent. And he's dreamy to look at, of course! Take care & keep up the insightful reviews.

I realize it has been a month, but I just want to say I really appreciate the method you utilize to get by copyright issues. Pretty clever.

Nice reaction to Dimash singing his own composition Unforgettable Day at Gakku. Great performance by Dimash including his famous D8. Greetings from Amsterdam.

I am giving you a huge thumb up!!! Unforgettable Day was composed by Dimash himself when he was 17 years old. The lyrics wrote Kazakh poet Oral Baissengir. Dimash first time performed it in 2015. I think the piano highest note is C5.

Hi Max, it is a pure clear D8 sliding from a C8 to D8 sustained for 5 secs and all this from a male (alien) in the middle of 2 and 1/2 hours LIVE concert at first try and I'm sure could have been even higer but he choosed a more "comfort" zone avoiding a flop, all that was insane, at this point he raised the bar very hig. Stay safe

Dimash said in an interview that he wrote the song as a teenager. Thank xou for your reaction.

We just love him, don't we? Not in a creepy, covetous way, but just as a lovely, unique human being. If I do get to use the concert tickets I bought for his show in Germany next Spring (and right now that is not certain), I will feel so very fortunate.

Hi Max, great reaction as usual 💕 Yes, Dimash wrote the music to this song (not the lyrics), he was headlining a huge festival in Kazakhstan in 2017 not long after the .singer) with well over 100,00 taking over the streets so backing track was used (you can also hear echoes from the various speakers going throughout the audience at times). This song is popular in Kazakhstan as the previous year Dimash held 25 concerts there and the tour was called ‘Unforgettable Day’ - this was to celebrate 25 years since independence. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

If this were an episode of 'Friends', it would be 'The One Where Max Hears the D8!'. An eloquent, original, sensitive and interesting reaction as always, and I particularly loved your comments about Dimash's ability to vary intensity. Great stuff!
