To all the rude commenters saying Christine is male, the new World Athletics 'Eligibility Regulations for the female classification' (which was revised immediately after Semenya's case) REMOVED XY altogether. That is because there are many reasons why a woman might have elevated testosterone levels other than being XY. So while SOME DSD athletes are 46, XY with partial androgen insensitivity, OTHERS ARE NOT. We do not know if Christine is XX or XY, other than her national federation saying she is XX. Mboma is running on testosterone of a higher level than any woman and if allowed to continue running without reducing her testosterone levels - the South African Caster - she is going to break every record in the 100 and 200 meter sprint.
Mboma can run a faster time than the Jamaicans right now but she knows that the track governing body is watching her performance and as such she is being clever as not to run too fast or upset the track's natural dynamics thus instead, she is going to wait until over a period - many months or a year or there about. - to really smash all the female records.

The IAAF studied the effects of overly high testosterone levels in women athletes of all events due to the Caster Semenya case. From that study it concluded that only events from 400m to 1 mile - inclusive, the hammer and the pole vault were affected. Restrictions were imposed for those women who had testosterone levels higher than 5 nanomoles per 1 litre in events from 400m to 1 mile, but not for events of lesser distances or for above 1 mile. No restrictions were imposed for the hammer or pole vault.
It's worth noting that the incidence of women athletes with overly high testosterone levels is 140 times that of females in the general population.
Some might argue that it's just a natural genetic advantage akin to that of height in basketball players. Other's might argue that there should be restrictions, just as there are with the different weight divisions in boxing.
Athletes from developing countries have been found to have had partial clitoridectomies and gonadectomies since the regulations were imposed.
I've no idea what the answer is. Many male athletes have testosterone levels below 5 nanomoles per litre. Should they be allowed to race in the women's events?
Lovely..well said.. you should think about writing articles..
The answer is simple. What does the athlete's DNA show. XY goes to the men's division. XX to women's. No crossovers. All this arguing over what is the "right" T-level is a waste of time and just creates a big bowl of confusion.
Caster, Mboma and Masilingi are all XY--male. Per WA rules, ONLY DSD XY athletes will be barred from certain races ( they should be barred from ALL female events). XX athletes will face NO restrictions.

It’s athletes like mboma who deserve praise, who is sha’carri. It’s funny how total running productions didn’t mention her name as one of the strong athletes in the lineup. He only brought up Jackson and Asher smith and mboma
Such gains all in one season is something that will bring a lot of suspicion on MBoma. If you can’t see an athlete’s natural progression over the years then it does not make sense to most humans involved in athletics.
That is definitely not true when you are talking about an 18 year old. High school athletes make leaps and bounds in their performance all the time....I have coached them, and I have seen it....as well as lived it myself when I was young. My senior year of high school I dropped from a 49.8 to a 48.0 in the 400
It is unfair, these type athletes competing with other women.. Mboma and maselingi has high testosterone levels..
She is like the famous horse called Sea Biscuit. Her speed is based on her being behind the leader then explodes before the finish lines.
dude ,are you aware that that is a boy not a woman ?
With such finishing speed and at just 18, Elaine Thompson may have problems at the next olympics (when it comes to the 200 m) 🤦🏾
I'm sure that she would have problems if they allow males that transitioned 2 weeks ago to compete in Women's 200m, but still dies not change the fact it's unfair and wrong
@@Lubsana86 do you have any evidence pointing to the assumption you made? That she's a "male"?

Cope
Mboma is a biological male with XY chromosomes. He has a male type "intersex" condition called 5-ard (same as Caster Semenya). It's a disorder which causes abnormalities while a male fetus is developing, therefore the external genitalia doesn't look like a normal male's. However, these individuals are still biological males with the testosterone production of a normal male due to having internal testes. Furthermore, these individuals have male bone structure and the heart and lung capacity of a male. Yet they are allowed to compete in women's categories, and are praised for their performances. Because apparently the vast majority of people, including the IOC and other athletic committees, don't know anything about DSDs or about basic biology for that matter.
@@andromedastar4900 It's obviously untrue that the athletics authorities don't know anything about DSD athletes, or else Mboma would have run the 400m. Like it or not, Mboma competed within the rules in the olympics. It's a developing subject and not at all clear what the right answer is, but banning these athletes is not a fair solution to them. I'll add, it's offensive to refer to people like Mboma as "he" when they clearly don't want that. You have good info, but being deliberately inflammatory makes it hard to take you seriously.
Mighty stuff. Good genes
Mboma if stayed healthy and injured free, she will definitely take down Flo jo 200m world record
A lot of issues surrounds this sprinter and they will continue and even be more talk about as she improves . My argument is that they might soon stop her from running the 200meter .
At 18 and running 21.81 . When I was 17, I ran 21.72 and I am a man .She is not ordinary .
i hope they will stop her to compete in women races
I ran a 21.73 at 17! You got me by a hundredth! Lol. Anyway, if she has a gift, she has a gift. I think it is silly to hold someone back because they have a natural advantage. I am sure most WWE wrestlers have hormone levels and hormone receptor differences which are incredibly rare as well. Why hold back the gifted?
There are MANY women who are naturally faster than men...and they do not need to be world-class. Your 21.72 at 17 is MUCH faster than most humans of either gender, but up against Erriyon Knighton, who is also 17 and running 19.88, you'd be slow.
@@obiosuji3535 She doesn't just have a natural advantage. She has XY chromosomes and internal testicles boosting her testosterone levels. Next you're going to tell me that I should be allowed to compete in the women's olympics if I choose to identify as a woman. After all, I shouldn't be held back for having the "natural advantage" of being a man.
@@weedermann very slow for sure .however that was back in the late 80s very early 90s when the winning time in that event was 21.04 .But the class and quality of the sprinters have increase .The average time is now 20.7 . But as you rightly said slow comparing to knighton.
But you know I was consider very fast back then .
My PB is 21.66 at 19 years old .
Sorry, but Mboma is a skinny male racing females. The body structure, the movement is not one of a female, Mboma got XY chromosomes, testes that produce testosterone and she got male levels of it. Whether is natural or not it's an unfair advantage because she is different from biological women. She should not be allowed to compete in women races it's not fair. And yes most likely all professional athletes are on some PED, but it's still not even close with the constant male testosterone levels that she had throughout her life.
If this is the case, I'm not saying it is or isn't, but shouldn't she be in the paralympics blowing them all away instead? I mean what would be the compromise, if they ban her from all female racing? Because they can't put her in the males either.
Or do they make something new for athletes that are born like this? I have feeling its quite a rare condition.
Ban her from all sports and ruin her career?
@@frankfrank6631 Yes they need to ban her and all intersex athletes from participating in women racing events. Allowing her or DSD athletes to participate in Paralympics would be even worse they do not have disabilities on a contrary she got an advantage. I think if anything ( and I'm not saying this should be done) separate category for transgender athletes and DSD athletes could be a solution, though as you said I do not have a clue about the numbers of either and if that is sustainable if not enough athletes to be actually competitive scene. I think though if current trends continue the number of transgender athletes would be rising in upcoming years and that is where DSD athletes could fit in my opinion.
@@Lubsana86 I hear you on the paralympics, but at the end of the day if she was born with a condition then it's not her fault.
It's very evident that there is something there in the fact that she's only 18 and running ludicrous times, it doesn't take a genius to work it out let's be honest, so she shouldn't be running with the women without a handicap.
The problem would be how to work out how much time to add on to her times to make it fair or if it even could be done. But this way she could still race. Something needs to done though.
Your first post is very derogatory she's clearly not a skinny male as you put it. Correct me if I'm wrong, It's sounding like she's born with male and female organs? Through no fault of her own.
@@frankfrank6631 Intersex people are still male or female. Mboma is a biological male with XY chromosomes. The type of DSD he has is the same one Semenya has. Having abnormal external genitalia doesn't mean they are women. It also doesn't mean that they are not men. Plus, it's not just simply about higher testosterone levels. Not only is their testosterone higher than women's, it is actually at the level of a normal male, because they have testes. And testosterone isn't the only factor. Males born with this disorder still go through male puberty, so they have the muscle mass, skeleton, lung capacity, etc of a normal male.
@@andromedastar4900 doesn't mean they are men either, heaven above.
Whether those athletes running in these races against women are recognised as being Intersex or being DSD, should not be in these races.

I could see a third category for trans athletes, but biological women who happen to have statiatically rare natural hormone profiles really are just an athletic gift.
