Whoa Nelley, 1976 and hit the bricks. That tag at 2:33 into the video is the tag that would have been on the carburetor and is used to look up the service parts in the catalog. We got the VIN, we win: 6 for 1976 model year, P for St. Paul/Twin Cities, MN assembly, 63 for LTD four door sedan, S for 400 CID V8 with two barrel, aka "Slow and Sloppy", and the rest is the production sequence. The Twin Cities MN plant operated from 1925 to 2011. You know the drill, the 400 CID V8 is slow, sloppy, oil burning heap of an engine and was never good in any way, shape or form. We got the tag, we can brag: 53H for LTD four door sedan, 6P for Cream, CY for possible Cream vinyl top, EY for Cream/Tan interior trim, U for C-6 automatic transmission, 2 for 2.75:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking, and 52 for Dallas, TX sales district. Whoa Nelley, LTD was never for me. 1976 and took its licks. Motorcraft needed a life raft. Made in the Twin City, and got no pity. Going to be flat and that's that. "Riding on the highway, going to a show...." (AC/DC, "It's a Long Way to the Top (If you Want to Rock 'n' Roll/TNT/1975) and this one is a no go. Going to get squished and even in August of 1976, no one in the free world was even the least bit remotely pissed.
Had to come back to visit your post. I viewed a video on RUclips where some younger guys went to the power station 🚉 for the Twin Cities Ford plant.I never liked going up there to work, fortunately never had to stay long.
hey benny . we been missing you man! my mother bought a new 76 ltd and came to my high school to pick me up at the end of the day! lol im sure thats sound boring but we were a poor family in the nc mtns. all our neighbors came over to look at the car! i was proud of my mom! 43 years later im a retired antique / muscle car restorer. love you mom ! and thanks benny for all the hell u go through making these vids! much respect to you junkyard warrior. on to the next one!
Ford sold a bunch of those 75 through 77 LTD's. From old tv shows like Barnaby Jones. Brought back many memories dont see em much in the yards these days.
The quick way to spot a tilt column in this era is the orientation of the key switch. If it's mounted high on the column, and angling back, as here, it's a non-tilt. Tilts had the lock mounted lower on the column and angled upwards.
My 73 custom was a lot like that but lime green and very rusty . My 77 Ltd wagon was that color but with wood paneling. Could not disagree with you more. Beautiful exciting car that combines looks and utility.
Cool car. Its not in bad shape. Few repairs and cleaning and she could have been back on the road. Savable but as usual it will be picked apart. In my place she'd still be everyday drive...
One of my uncles had one of those back in the day. Either the uncle from Winnipeg, or the one from Toronto, but I can’t remember which. I will have to ask. Brings back good memories though.
My whole gbody drivetrain is sourced from junk yard. Lq4 (denalli) turbo 400 (chevy rv van) floor shifter (dodge omni) . Brakes (s10 fronts camaro disc rears) and so on and so on
I have a 76 Brougham 4dr with 351M. Nice car that was good on gas, even with the a/c. Shame about this one. Looks like could easily be put back on the road as a fun daily driver
Haven't seen those ford LTD in years popular cars in 70 and 80 movie and taxi to bad it end up in the yard ill like those 70 cars time capsule this be could be restored
I had a friend who father gave him a 77 two door one with the 302. It was like new condition but it was an oil burner with low miles. The vehicle was 6 years old at the time and Ford quality was definitely lacking in the 73-80 Era.
I had a 1977 two door LTD in 1989, given to me by a friend. The one I had was a 351 CID V8. I flipped it right away with another friend. We made a small profit on it. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. It was a colossal heap of junk.

@@johnbartol8511l concur 🙂🙃
@@johnbartol8511 Nothing Ford made was any good back then, but the 400 V8 was the top of the heap.
@@garymckee63 I've never been to MN for work. I was supposed to go to Wyoming, MN for a project, but it got canceled.
My first car was a 1977 LTD.

Love those big ltd,s

LTD's, were built in Edison N.J and Oakville, Ont, and probably other plants.
Millions of these on the streets in the seventies and eighties.
Your central NY guy thanking you.

My Grandma had a 1976 Ford LTD and my Dad had a 1976 Mercury Marquis they were coupes.
Beautiful car, but to restore it costs more than buying something brand new.
It could be save 💪👍🤜👊🤛👌🚘😃

California Car, 400 was std., 351 elsewhere, 302 in 1978.
In Massachusetts, this Ford would rotted out in both the body and frame, better as a Southern Car.
i like 1970s ltd's.
Hey what's up Benny! I know it's hot out there but we need a new video Bro! 🖐🤣
In Mass. this car would been rotted out.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍸🍱👀😎👍. One more to RIP ⚰️⚰️ 🕷️🕷️. To bad would have made a good sleeper ! With a Coyote Engine ; LOL what a blast ! ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍

It’s been a minute!
Hope you’re good my man!
Not much in the yards lately unfortunately
Not really in too bad of shape..
Where's it located?
BYOT in Elm Mott Texas
Can't it be saved and repaired as rough as it is?
😀
How much?
The Junkyard is parting it out
351, was std. with 400 being std. in California.
