I love the fabric book your Mom made! Besides all the paper crafts, I have taken out my embroidery supplies again. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful creations.
The book of your mom’s work is the most amazing thing EVER! What an absolute treasure. My mom embroidered when I was young. I remember several of the flower bouquets that she did. I asked her a couple of years about them to find out that she got rid of them. I actually cried. I was on the phone so she did not know, but I cannot believe that. In mom’s defense, she is incredibly practical. If she did not want them anymore, they were of no use to her. In her mind it is that simple. I would give anything for them now. I know you will treasure your mom’s book. I just cannot believe that she made a book. Something that you can hold in your hand an touch and study. Thank you for sharing it with us! I also love the fabric book you made. Such a treasure of textiles.
Thank you so much Brenda! my mum is the same! She has some pieces she didn't want so I said i would have them. Then my suitcase was too full so I said I would take them when i went back to Oz. Yesterday she told me they were rubbish and I didn't need them. I told her they were not ruibbish and I needed them! Typical mum undervaluing the importance of her work!
Hi Rachel that is all divine. The dyed fabrics look great and a cross stitch on one of them will be amazing. Thank you for sharing these lovely pieces. So inspiring.
Rachel, this just randomly popped up under recommended -- your mother's journal is exquisite -- what a beautiful gift that will be passed down through the generations -- and I adore the one you made -- I'm so inspired -- I bought a box of doilies from an estate sale in upper NY state, and when it arrived I couldn't believe it -- everything was handmade and antique -- and it must have been stored in a box somewhere and never used for nearly 100 years -- I was thinking someone may have made it for a wedding "hope chest" they're called here in the US -- and maybe her fella didn't return from the war, or whatever reason -- well, I sure as heck couldn't hack 'em up, either -- and so, the majority are sitting in a box in my closet -- there were rolls and rolls of edging -- just double crochet lines -- and I have used some of those -- but there is no joy from these gorgeous creations, and I'm thinking I'm going to pull my box out this weekend and have a go -- I also have lots of fabrics that are my favorites, not necessarily old, but just pretty ones I like -- what you call puff flowers, we call yo-yo's -- and my grandmother used to make yo yo quilts -- I know you're up to your eyeballs, but maybe you can bump this video up to near the top so others, like me, will know that you do amazing collage work on fabrics, as well -- both of them, simply stunning -- hope you are well -- P.
Thank you so much! I think you should do something with your favourite laces so that way you can enjoy them. I hang onto things too but want to create something to keep them in so they can be enjoyed. I figure Lulu will be more likely to keep something I made rather than a box of my favourite things!
@@roxycreations679 Actually, I DID start working on a fabric book for that reason. My friend Kenny Lewis and his wife Jennifer were stewarts on American Flight 77, the "pentagon" plane, on 9-11. He was an only child, so they not only killed he and Jennifer, but they killed his parents, as well. We grew up in a very small town and when I saw the local news later the next day and they were showing his name and then his picture, I couldn't believe it. And people in NYC are still dying from cancers from the toxic debris when the towers fell -- So I worked on my fabric book instead of being so incredibly sad -- and thought about other countries around the world where war has ravaged cities and families -- and you've got new videos up, so I'm going to watch them now -- be well, Patricia
OMG!!! The fabric book from your mom is amazingly gorgeous, and what a sentimental treasure to have. I can see where you got your artistic talent from, and Lulu is continuing the family legacy. The wallet that you made is stunning!!! I love how you show and describe all the unique features of the item. Thank you so much for sharing.
