Hey this is a great video. Thanks for sharing. I have a QUESTION...you said "if the power goes out my solar kicks in. How do you control that? I mean, do your solar lights not come on until the power goes off? How did you wire that? I'd love to have the same thing. Right now my solar lights are on as soon as it gets dark. You are not a hoarder. A hoarder clears the shelves - you buy a bit at a time and stock up before they are needed. This means you don't need to shop when everyone else does, leaving more for them. I'd be inclined to paint or camouflage that big propane tank. Also, be careful about staking up 5-gal buckets. The lids will crack after a time, unless you have a small piece of plywood to distribute the weight. It makes a great target! I'm in central KY.
Well, my solar light will not come on because of my outside grid pole lights put off so much light. But if the power is off then it's totally dark up here on a hill in the woods the solar outside lights kick on then. So, you are correct, they only come on when power is off. if you watch my video of me on my front porch you can see my solar light on the telephone pole on the right of the carport. The solar light sits right under the power company led light. So, with the electric company light shining down on my solar light it never comes on unless power is out. And thank for the tip on the bucket lids, very helpful to know. Really never thought about that. See, I learned something today by trying to teach others! 🙂I also have a video on a simple diy wiring of my home for my solar & it doesn't connect to any of my home wiring. check it out.
