Eclipse Aviation Corporation is a pioneer in the very light jet industry. Since the beginning, the company’s stated aim has been to revolutionize aviation the way the personal computer did the computer industry - making it more affordable, accessible, and efficient on the wings of the “personal airplane.” Eclipse’s founder and many of its early backers came from the tech industry. Eclipse Aviation was incorporated in Delaware on December 2, 1998. It set up a temporary base in Scottsdale, Arizona, but after an extensive search, settled on a new home at Albuquerque’s Double Eagle 2 Airport, New Mexico, a sparsely populated, rural state with few large companies.

If Eclipse would've adequate management and good marketing, Cirrus' sales would drop radically. Eclipse is superior to Cirrus in all flight characteristics, at the same time it's cheaper Eclipse is much safer than Cirrus, since it has two engines. Present a parachute as something safe is pure marketing. There are very few situations in which a parachute will actually save you. The second enginer trumps a dozen parachutes in terms of safety. So if Cirrus acquires Eclipse, it will only be to bury it forever.
