    Memories! I always admired the guys that, you could tell, were scared to death but jumped anyway! That's the definition of real courage. God, I wish I could go back.

    • @Wildcat5181
      @Wildcat5181 4 года назад +4

      We were not scared of death. The safest place to be is out of that plane. We couldn't wait to jump.

    • @pikeminnow2080
      @pikeminnow2080 4 года назад +6

      @@Wildcat5181 Haha, I feel the same. The fucking plane was the worst. It was instantly better once you were out. My hands are sweaty, I havent watched a jump since I did it myself. Fuck me.

    • @Wildcat5181
      @Wildcat5181 4 года назад +2

      @@pikeminnow2080 I remember the C119s in jump schoo me They would pop and smoke like crazy, then backfire, scream as if they were in pain and almost sounds as if they were saying, "PHEW!" and then roar during the run-up me During taxi, the winds would move up and down as if flapping. I didn't know metal could bend so much and not break off.
      Once or became airborn, I could wait to reach the drop zone so I could get off before the wings finally broke off.
      And while that was going on, there were all the guys vomiting, which lent a special flavor to the cabin air.
      Oh yeah, you didn't have to coax jumpers out of the plane. We were pressed tightly against the guy in front and even the last guy was pushing to get out. It was definitely healthier in the air. I jumped out of everything but the C-5A and the C-17.
      I think everyone had decided that if we ever went down by any cause, that best part would be the impact. Nevertheless, I didn't risk my life in bravery; like a prostitute, I did it for the $65.00. And I'd gladly do again tomorrow, tonight on a jump into pitch black darkness would pump me up.
      Enjoy it while you can lads. Get all the night jumps you can because you will never experience a greater sense of adrenalyzation, except for being short down and surviving, or surviving a firefight uninjured.
      Damn, I miss it all. Airborne All the Way! and then some.

      It is so organized, that it's hard to mess up. But I have seen a few people fall straight to the ground. I did everything by the book, what I was taught, 52 times, and I never had one issue ever. Scariest jumps I ever did was night time jumps, I did 5, what a rush, I was 17years old 1975. Parents had to give the Army consent to join back then.

Just remember, you owe it to these people to at least shut up when they're around. The country is not perfect, but neither is anything else. if it's between them and you, I really hope you see it should be them. Oh, and if you really want to change things, join the US army... hooah and God Bless

    they are AA All American US Army paratrooper soldier stationed in Fayetteville Fort Bragg, NC. I know it because I was one of them. all the combat exercises start around midnight. this jump during the day time and without rifles and magazine was probably for those soldiers to comply with their jumping amount requirement for the quarter.

      One question, they dont actually have to repack the chute if dropped into live-fire right? Cause that seems like it'd be a dangerous waste of time

    • @Ottakazi
      @Ottakazi 5 лет назад

      @@adamrosbrugh3529 we were taught if it was an actual combat jump to just stash them somewhere and mark down the grid coordinates of it. If not, stash it and forget about it bc the missions more important.

      @@Ottakazi And is there a difference between an actual combat jump and simply jumping into a 'combat zone'?

    • @Ottakazi
      @Ottakazi 5 лет назад

      @@adamrosbrugh3529 so if its an actual combat jump. aka like D-Day, there is an award for it. and an add on to your jump wings= the "mustard stain". These jumps are jumping into enemy controlled areas to seize and control an airfield to call in more troops. but there hasn't been one like that in a very long time but they are why the airborne was created. Then there is simply combat equipment jumps which include your weapon and ruck sack. Then adversely there is a Hollywood jump which is a jump without any equipment other than chute and reserve chute.
