I'm glad I grew up in a time when country was still good and actually told a story. Thank you #blackhawk for making such amazing melodically good music.
Not underrated at all....They just didnt have what it took at the time...Alabama...lol...no way...Underrated is the most overrated on you tube, people dont know what it means...
I remember him in “the OUTLAWS” then Henry left to do country instead of southern rock… AWESOME GUY! My baby brother’s godfather was their (the OUTLAWS) bass player in the 90s.
I’m 54 and just heard this the other day for the first time and I’ve listened to it probably 1,000 times! It’s my new/old favorite song! I’m a country music fan so why didn’t I hear it earlier?
Heavy metal fan here, but sometimes I need a glass of whiskey and a deep country tune. This song is like medicine...I guess part of getting older is accepting you need those more tender moments.
These guys were awesome. They still are. I remember listening to them when I was growing up back in the 90s. Very talented. Country music ain't like it used to be. It's sad to be honest
l grew up in the late 60s, with Johnny Cash and Hank Williams & Junior. l can sense a clear line between them and this. Between them and what is called "country" today...not at all. Hank would have had three extra drinks over that crap.

Hello Betsy 👋 Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will make you smile.
It's just sad that they don't make em like this anymore, Alan Jackson song "where have you gone" is the TRUTH, when him and George and a very few others put their guitars up for good we will be without and that's a fact.
Here in FL as a kid we would go to Thunder on the Ridge and Blackhawk always Performed.its my earliest Memory of hearing them.they played "I Sure Can Smell The Rain"
In today's animosity in the world, it's so nice to hear the vocals from this group and musical notes from the rest of the band. It brings peace within the industry
amen to that, takes me back to the good ol days as a kid when I get into the 90s country. times when kids got a good whoopin for being bad, no one was easily offended by anything and gay people didn't feel the need to spend a whole month making it known that they were gay
Hello Amber 👋 Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will make you smile.
Sometimes when you get older you don't realize how much time goes by. That's me, at least until I heard this. I remember making a mixtape of different country songs I'd hear on the radio and play this on my old Walkman on the way to school. So many memories! Too bad music isn't made like this any more. And I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks modern country is trash.
I first heard Blackhawk in 6th or 7th grade. What turned me onto country music was Dwight Yoakam's "Streets of Bakersfield" and Trisha Yearwood's "Shes in love with the boy". A boring saturday of watching TV and I came across CMT, and I was hooked!! Years later, after listening to other country music artists of the early 90s, I heard this song and knew I found a favorite country music band. They just got better and better over time. Now, it's 2020 and I'm listening to all their music from the 90s and beyond! This group is amazing!!! They have gone through changes, but they're still the best country music group ever!! Can't get enough of them!!
I was about to talk crap about these guys. Having lost my father and hitting hard times I felt this might be another "look at me" group but they have lifted me up and we are headed to a family that I can sustain. Thank you guys!
When I was a wee teen girl I was in love with Dave- the one with the cowboy hat. Life was tough for me then, but it still feels good to remember 90’s country. I need to go find Kathy Mattea’s “nobody’s gonna rain on our parade.”
Takes me back to when I was working for a harvest crew and we were up in North Dakota in a one horse town and I was going through a bit of a rough patch with the ol’ heartbreak. This song came on the radio one evening and at that moment things just started to get a little better. Always makes me smile now whenever I hear this song
Id love to have lived the traveling harvest crew lifestyle just once. Now Im turning 30, married and chained to a dairy farm when id love to just be a grain farmer. Sadly I could never just chase the grain anymore. Man I Envy you.
Well.. just spent the last couple of hours listening to the early 90s and late 80's country music and I cannot help but wonder; Where did it go wrong and how can it get back on track?
Takes me back to when I was a kid omg I'm now almost 36 and I still listen to there music I love it but I've always been a country music fan my whole life especially when comes to the old country music like these songs takes me back to a day where I didnt have a worry in the world but now my kids get to listen to it too
Great song! Saw these guys in 1994 in Salem VA as the opener for Dwight Yokum. Great show! If anyone out there remember the Outlaws Henry Paul was the lead singer in that great band also!
Makes me think of a little red haired gale I used to go pick up on the weekends in KY on the shoulder blade hill. I really was truly in love with her now that I think of it. Awesome song!❤️
“She opens her heart to an old memory She closes her eyes and she smiles Just ask her if she ever still thinks about me She'll say "Every once in a while" Every once in a while.”
This is one of those uber rare groups that nailed every song on every album. Very rare you can listen to an album from front to back. These guys did it 3 times..,
I recently lost my first true love .... although we didn't ultimately end up together , Everytime we saw each other it was magic .This was always always my song for him . Rest well , Scott ❤️❤️❤️
Been there in a way. Lost my 2 best friends in two years. One was the only woman I can say I actually loved, her many flaws and all. The other was my best friend since childhood, who's pain got the best of him. It never hurts less, you just get used to dealing with it. Best advice I can give you, is don't let the pain keep you from finding new joy. We don't have enough time here to waste it. Any of it.
When the moon is bright On a Saturday night There's a thousand stars in the sky On a winding road her memory flows She'll face the fact She wants to go back She opens her heart to an old memory She closes her eyes and she smiles Just ask her if she ever still Thinks about me She'll say "every once in a while, Every once in a while" She tries to forget But she hasn't yet Not a single day goes by That feeling again reminds of when I held her tight, it felt so right She opens her heart to an old memory She closes her eyes and she smiles Just ask her if she ever still Thinks about me She'll say "every once in a while, Every once in a while" And every once in a while She calls my name out loud And when she thinks about us She'll face the fact She wants to go back She opens her heart to an old memory She closes her eyes and she smiles Just ask her if she ever still Thinks about me She'll say "every once in a while, Every once in a while" "Every once in a while" "Every once in a while"
This is a band that deserved about a thousand times the recognition they received. Very few people have even heard of them and that's a shame.
Like “shooting star” in the rock genre. Amazing!
Every bit as talented as REO, or Journey, survivor or any of the most popular bands of the time.
Ur so right they are
I love so many of their songs but didn't remember the name, which is sad :(
Back in the day my local country station played Blackhawk, those days I miss of real country on the radio!!!
Shenandoah, Diamond Rio & BlackHawk……just awesome 90s groups!
These guys had killer vocal harmonies! The 90’s were great for that. Diamond Rio, Brooks and Dunn, Little Texas
Right on. I don't think they had a bad song.
Those bands were ameteurs compared to Blackhawk
Shenandoah too
Restless Heart
I'm glad I grew up in a time when country was still good and actually told a story. Thank you #blackhawk for making such amazing melodically good music.
NOTHING LIKE THE SOUNDS OF BLACKHAWK
Black hawk is a truely under rated band. These guys had the talent to be the next alabama, and thats a bold statement.

The lead singer has such a distinct voice and it sounds great in their songs.
Best country music harmonies
Henry Paul. Listen to the Henry Paul band of the 80's and The Outlaws.
Yes, he's fantastic.
Yea but the guy on the piano is hot. Definitely was the one I crushed on when I was young.
I’m 54 and just heard this the other day for the first time and I’ve listened to it probably 1,000 times! It’s my new/old favorite song! I’m a country music fan so why didn’t I hear it earlier?

When the moon is bright
On a Saturday night
There's a thousand stars in the sky
On a winding road her memory flows
She'll face the fact
She wants to go back
She opens her heart to an old memory
She closes her eyes and she smiles
Just ask her if she ever still
Thinks about me
She'll say "every once in a while,
Every once in a while"
She tries to forget
But she hasn't yet
Not a single day goes by
That feeling again reminds of when
I held her tight, it felt so right
She opens her heart to an old memory
She closes her eyes and she smiles
Just ask her if she ever still
Thinks about me
She'll say "every once in a while,
Every once in a while"
And every once in a while
She calls my name out loud
And when she thinks about us
She'll face the fact
She wants to go back
She opens her heart to an old memory
She closes her eyes and she smiles
Just ask her if she ever still
Thinks about me
She'll say "every once in a while,
