I've made about 500 this summer and reinvested 220 back into my business rest I blew for stupid reasons I know I could've made a €1000 this summer if I set my mind to it but I didn't you live and you learn I guess I've decided I'm gonna save 50% of what I make up until I'm 18 to start in business my math says somewhere below 3500 I probably will have more in dropping out next year to become a plasterer because I'm good with my hands and I hate school. We have been working on this plan for 2 years. We started with over $75,000 in debt. My husband and I were both full-time students, only making $20,000 a year for the first 2 years. It was a struggle. But we put every extra penny we scrounged towards debt and managed to pay off our car, motorcycle, and 2 credit cards. Now all we have left is the student loans for about $50,000. We both joined the military so fortunately we now have a steady regular income of about $50,000 a year (sometimes more depending on the situation.) $50,000 is a MASSIVE increase from the 20k we made last year. So sometimes plans come from humble beginnings, like ours. We even had a child during college, so we made a lot of sacrifices to stay on plan.

    • @intellijente
      @intellijente 6 лет назад +2

      Sure NYC is expensive but that rapid of an income increase means it would have been easy for them to not increase their lifestyle in that time. I would have been more impressed if they had paid this amount off in half the time they did.

    • @jacksonsardello3959
      @jacksonsardello3959 6 лет назад +34

      It's not uncommon to see a sarcastic comment about people with high incomes, but I kinda wanted to do the napkin math and see if the sarcasm is justified. After looking at the numbers I don't think it is.
      So from 90k to 155k in 10 months. Lets average that and say their income was 122,500 a year. Well first you need to pay taxes, and a calculator that factors both federal and state income tax takes out $45,593...so $76,907 left, still not bad. But they took 10 months, not a full year so ($76,907/12) * 10 = $64,089. Now let's take out the debt $64,089-$33,000 = $31,089.
      So they lived on (roughly) $31k for 10 months. Now I'm not going to pretend to be a cost of living expert, but it doesn't take much googling to know that living near NYC is bananas. If you take out $1,500/mo for rent, that's $16,000 left to live on or $1,600/mo.
      I'm not trying to claim that they lived like paupers or that they didn't have a really big shovel to dig out the debt, but give the folks some credit. Darrah if you're reading the youtube comments congratulations! Y'all kicked it into gear and now you get to live a life of Financial Peace!
