The first sober people to make a van build video without the boring hipster nonsense about vanlife being way better than owning a house
Dude . Van life is way better than living in the rat race . I'm totally stoked and utterly excited about being free of monthly cyclic bills and bad neighbors. Dude ! Dude ! Your being totally bombastically gnarley. Your against us lifetime van lifers -divers - surfers - slackers. You have no clue Dude. Wacky tacky hacky smacky. Yeah I'm talking smack Dude, dude. ..
😅just joking . I live in a house with kids and a wife..just wanted to rag u😊
Little tip - if you add a false business to the side of it, it'll be less likely to be stopped or have suspicions raised when you pull over somewhere.
Haha! What a sneaky and excellent idea!
Like dead body removal. Repel thieves that way too. Lol
I put this on site also, only risk is that thieves may think you have tools or valuables i n your work van. But, certainly add a "DOT" number (for USA) on the door
@@power4things They'll break into it regardless of whether or not its got a logo on the side. They'll smash a window just for shits.
@@mcladrifter True enough. The markings were more intended for stealth parking in neighborhoods and keeping the Karin's away.
Brilliant build! And no extra ‘padding’ to turn it into a 30 minute video. Just great info.
Exactly 👍
Glad you enjoyed it :)

Hi, new subscriber here..
I was wondering if you're aware of the new dvla regulations on van conversions ?
Any commercial vehicle converted into a camper must have 3 windows on the sides
( one and 2 )
Plus decals on the outside denoting it as a camper...
If this is not done , and declared to dvla and your insurance provider, a pig could charge you with DRIVING WITHOUT VALID INSURANCE.
Obviously this legislation is aimed at criminalising problems who operate stealth vans .....
I'm sure you'll be aware that driving without valid insurance will result in the vehicle being seized and possibly crushed by the pigs .
"It looks like a bit of a bodge job- that's because it is" Love it. I love these projects and want one for my own but I always felt the pressure to make it perfect, so having this bit of messy to-be-fixed-later was awesome.
Great to see an achievable van build process. Nice one.
The best van camper conversion video on RUclips - simple as
Thanks a million
I think this is one of the most inspiring van builds I have seen! Great job!
If I can do it then anyone can do it! I love this van and all the quirky bits I keep adding
Many years ago, I owned a business called "The Rapid Transit Company". We built custom dayvans to order, and VW - LT van based campers. All our campers were of modular construction so that, if a customer had a 2 berth van but now needed a 3 or 4 berth van; no need to buy a new van - just swap the 2 berth interior for a fully fitted set of 3 or 4 berth modules.
The reason I mention all this is to demonstrate that I do happen to know what I'm talking about.
The van in the above video is a potential fire-trap! Not because it's badly built or planned, but simply due to the nature of the materials used. That insulation fibre might be okay in a shed or a garage. A fire certified version might be used in a loft where there are no electrics; but tighyly packed next to under-shielded cables with no trunking that I could see - definitely NO!
Apart from the fire risk, it's a fairly clever but very amateur conversion. Far too small for 2 people; having insufficient cubic feet of clear air space and little in the way of ventilation.
However, don't be discouraged; learn from your first, very enthusiastic, build and, next time, start with a bigger van. (Transit, VW, Toyota etc). Buy one with windows or fit your own, dark tinted of course, and fire-proof everything as you build. Your system of electrical labelling is nothing short of absolute genius! I used to colour-code but actual labelling is so much better - well done. Keep it up and Happy Adventuring for the future.
Are RUclips videos the future in education rather than colleges and universities 😂😂 first of all YES. Secondly, brilliant 👏 😂😂
Brilliant....I've got a T5 but I'm seriously considering selling it and buying a Caddy to convert myself, this video might have made my mind up 🤣
thanks from Germany Mate, I really have to focus on your talking. Going so fast, but cool 😅
This is the short version of our full micro camper build. The big video is more in depth
Where is the big video please?
I really like your angle here. How well did the sound proofing work out? I think what would have been really cool to do was get a recording BEFORE all the sound proofing, then get a recording after the proofing. Obviously it would be best to keep the variables the same on both recordings.
My face is made of industrial rubber
Bro your energy is immaculate
Seriously good job of walking through the build!
Thank you
Minimalistic choice. Loved it mate from India. Subs
Thanks a million my friend
With the cost of living spiralling out of control in the UK. This will be a cheaper alternative to renting a property. This beasts sleeping on the street.
Looks good mate
You should post more on your main channel as it is growing so much
GREAT job!! Anybody who DOESN'T buy a Mercedes Sprinter is always ahead in my book. Side note: Any van that has solar panels, a rooftop vent, or reflective insulation in their windows is.....UNstealthy.
JUST A TIP, YOUR ROOF RACK MUST MAKE A NOISE WHEN GOIN FAST, ON MY VAN I PUT A PIECE OF PLASTIC AT FRONT OF RACK AT ABOUT 35 TO 40 DEGREES, IT CUT OUT THE WIND NOISE GREAT
Absolutely Love it guys , well done to you both ! My hat 🧢 goes off to you both. Kind regards Danny
You probably know this by now Mate, but just for the benefit of UK viewers, it's wise to check your insurance because many of them stipulate that you MUST have a fire extinguisher, especially if there's any kind of gas/cooking fuel in the vehicle- otherwise your insurance might be invalid.
He hasn't got any cooking appliances and has got a fire extinguisher so he should be OK.
Like simplicity and honesty about build.
Quick question mate how tall are you? I’m looking at getting the SWB transit connect and I’m 6’3 and worried it’s too small of a van for me?😂
I'm the same mate, how was it if u got one? I'm aiming to get lwb and if needed cut a bit out of the bulkhead so I can get the seat back more. Let me know how yours is for the taller gentlemen?
Love it ! My van is a self build and I love it.
We have just been given 2 months to move out of our home as the landlord needs to do major repairs and we are thinking of instead of renting again to just rent a storage unit for our stuff and try the an life for a while.... its cheaper than renting, no council tax or rent! This video has helped alot
Well done 👍 and only 700 £, this is great 👍 Have a good time on the road and relaxing on your camping trip 🌏
Welcome to the life of "vandwellers" ive been in my van for 6 yrs and would not swap it for the world. I am down-sizing like yourselves and so am in the look-out for an ideal van to use and seeing your v-blog its given me some great ideas and all being well i will be back on the road again real soon. Keep up the videos - have just subscribed to your channel so will be keeping watch on how your getting on,
Which battery and solar panel bits did you buy?
Fb marketplace specials haha

Quite interesting, but for me the talking goes too fast. At 0,75 speed it is perfect.
I've watched the full video obviously 😆, but as always it's a new vlog and always great content. Keep it up guys and subscribe so we can see more of these videos, besides its educational and entertaining 😁. Great work Richard 👍
Awesome video. Love the rapid-fire editing. Funny too. Subscribed!
Top tip for clothing: get or make some cushion covers and stuff your clothing in them. Neater for storage and actually useful. I bought two colours, one for clean and one for mucky!
Excellent idea!
@@shivsnorman, we’ve also got a big cushion about 2 foot by 3 foot which we stuff the quilt in. Makes a great backrest in the micro camper.
Good tip , something to think about
Absolutely subscribed, liked !
Great job on both the van and the channel!
Cost of living will see more people choosing this route I think.
I'm noticing more people around this autumn for sure. Welcome to the family
cool build I personally would of installed one of those Chinese diesel heaters for the cold weather trips. But as you on a low budget buy a low wattage hairdryer and stick it on low to keep ya warm
9:09 is that urine bottle haha
Usually these stealth camper builds show cool ideas for the amateur builder to try. I don't want to copy any of this.
It's about time we had more Brit Van Life channels on here. But I can't help thinking the van is a bit small to live in, especially for 2 people. Great vlog though, and you have another subscriber. Keep up the good work.....
Great vid, love the fast pace and clear description of the process, felt a bit like packing your shopping at an aldi checkout
😂
mad effort lad, top quality build all round.
Awesome conversion that, how long is the bed in this? I’m just under 6ft2 and wondering if I’d be able to fit in a bed on a conversion like this? 😅
Aaah a ford, a wet belt system ?
Such a massive failure on Ford's part.
Looks great and much more manageable than a van (but more basic but hey, space vs luxury)
Excellent work. Very nice mini camper.
Thank you kindly
Great Effort well done!
I Guess it helps if your partner is 'On Board'! Cheers dx
Great job you guys done . You've shown it is possible to achieve on a budget . 👏👏👏
Hiya love the video and cracking build...quick question what length is the bed I'm 6ft 4 hoping to do same build as yours but just wondering if van will be long enough 🙏
I'm very interested in your project mate. I'm looking to copy your build for working away from home and saving expenses costs. Also... I believe towards the end of the video you are parked up on Quay Road, Gorleston On Sea? I grew up there and only move away in the last three years. Regards Richy.
Well done done mate, great content 👍
Flipping heck..you don't stop to breathe! Yao yap yap yap yap yap.
Some would think that voice over may have been edited
@@iNDI_VAN_A_JONES i like the fast pace , you dont pad it out, f people want a closer look they can hit pause
What do you need a fuse box, leisure battery, split charge relay and solar? What are you powering? I guess all your RUclips stuff? If you sold you car and you are two, why not go for a Vivaro/Trafic or T4/5, far more practical.
INSULATION! say it correctly!
HOA 👍👋
Great build. Maybe list the things you used and where you got them. The solar panelling seems a bit complex to fit if you don't know about electrics. But overall, the van looks superb. Enjoy your travels, I'm jealous but happy for you. 😄😊
great tip on the IKEA wood scraps. That will save a ton on money although its not the best type of wood usually to hold up.
I sealed the open edges with wood glue. Just spread it on. So far mines doing real well
@@iNDI_VAN_A_JONES
I didn't even know that was a thing regarding scrap wood from IKEA! That's a great tip!
Excellent build by the way!
Really good video and spot on conversion!
Imagine all that scrap wood and stuff going through the back to the front in a crash!! there is a reason for a bulkhead, Far too heavy also!! a little bit of thought and you could have used foam board in places to reduce the wieght, what's yer birds name Van A Devito!!
Andi if you ever want to sell your van as it is let me know 😉
Sorry mate. It's being used as a part ex
Very well presented video...well done and great job...
Is there a fire hazard due to the insulation?
Insulation melts over an open flame. Doesn't catch fire
Piece of piss gonna do it all tomorrow, hang on where do I get the leisure battery from and which one do I get , and where do I get all the electrical diagram's and information how to connect everything up correctly with the right size fuses for each appliance, and how do I make sure everything I do measurement size is correct, and how the hell do I get a budget like yours to do this ?
Great stuff, looks like a neat budget job!
How long did it take for you to finish the van?
Ffs get a tri-pod or mount instead of fumbling about trying to do things with one hand.
WOW MAN YOU WANT TO DO THIS FOR PEOPLE IL PAY YOU UP FRONT FIRST I LIVE UP IN LAKE DISTRICT NEXT YEAR IM GETTING A VAN ITS WORTH ME DOING IT WELL CHEAPER THAN BUYING A DONE MOTOHOME
Great video, have you got links to the insulation products, especially the large foil please?
Do you need to declare that its a camper like if you mod your car you have to tell insurance and they bend you over a table? Lol
So wanting to do this one day, awesome video.
Everyones hell bent on putting insultion everywhere but condensation is going yo love eating that metal from the inside..
Sorry why did u take the roof box off? Height restrictions?
Northern exotics is that you?!? Your voice pinged straight away in my head 🤣
Good ears ;)
Nice video, a bit to fast-paced for me though at my age,.
Inkl. Solaranlage für unter 700 Pfund, das ist zu schön um wahr zusein .
Nice build. Where did you get the recycled insulation from
Why would anyone build this instead of a Mercedes sprinter long and tall
Have you got links so your solar etc about to convert a mercades vito can you tell me were you got all your stuff from
Some links in the description. Solar was facebookmarket place. A company that was closing down getting rid of stock
You should learn a bit of english, mostly pronunciation
Little tip - if you add a false business to the side of it, it'll be less likely to be stopped or have suspicions
Got a sub from me. Seem oike a really nice bloke. Keep up the good work.
Cheers buddy
Building a van is so exciting..... when I built my mobile detail van. I loved every moment of it and would do it again. Now planning on Building a camper van you guys did an excellent job 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 love it
If we take seats out etc and convert cars or vans does it still get through MOT etc?
Yeah is it meets mot standard
It'd been more stealth with the chevron stickers left on...
Awesome build love it, im considering this type of van myself, do you have to put the double passenger seat and bulk head in for every mot?
Go for a lwb . I don't need to put them back in . The si glencoe seat has its perfect seatbelt
Voice reminds me of youtuber that kept reptiles 🤔
fantastic video so clear on the information. thank you
IRN BRU?! That soda tastes so weird to us Merikans!
I love it, is there no concerns regarding the installation and wiring?
i like that you didn't add all the unnecessary crap like a sink etc. just keeping it simple.
With my work and how I live I don't need them.
Great video, very informative.
Drinks IRN BRU! That was the final straw, made me click the sub! Keep up the great work. Greetings from Canada, your newest subscriber!
What did the van cost as I'd love to end up with a van and all done for 750
8k including vat
That solar charger is definitely not mppt lol
Have you got rid of all your exotic animals??
Thanks, but maybe hide the piss bottle next time 9:08
What did you use to secure the lino?Really nice feature that mate
What would you say start to finish timescale for your build was? Its tidy, many thanks for showing your piece man..
And if I may ask, what is your trade? Do you have a history of woodwork or electrics etc or did you pick it up as you say through the plethora of RUclips academy videos out there lol
Took 3 months but I'm a coach driver by trade. I learnt what to do by asking people in the trade how to do it. I spent a few days helping out at a van conversion centre working for free if they let me ask any questions
@@iNDI_VAN_A_JONES nice one.. 'preciate the reply fella
just said to misses am makin one she says get christmas out the way first 😂
1st off YUK IRN BRU. Quick question what was the brand of insulation used please
Nice job but the vans just way too small
Suites me. Then again I am looking at a custom or boxer for my next haha
You have great lifestyle.
