I actually use this word often whenever my aglet gets dirty or damaged so thanks Dan. And no I'm not a part of Gen Z I'm Gen Alpha so technically you taught a little more than just one generation.
I remember when this episode came out I was doing a test and a bonus question was "Name a seemingly useless invention that still has enough use to keep around and explain." I said Aglet because I learned the name from Phineas and Ferb. The teacher gave me the bonus mark and cheekily replied on the marked test "So it is useful after all." Well, yea that was the whole purpose of the question. 🤨
If I had a nickel for every time one of my favorite childhood cartoons referenced aglets I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice! (The other cartoon is Justice League Unlimited)
The funniest part of it all for me was when I first watched it, the word aglet was so catchy I couldn't get the word out of my head. By the end of the episode everyone in the show forgot, and during the commercial break I actually couldn't place what it was called anymore either. Took a couple of times but now it is definitely cemented in my brain 😂
I sadly did not grow up with Disney Channel or Phineas and Ferb I've seen episodes here and there when my family got the trial of all the expensive channels
Since this episode came out, I know it in two languages: Dutch: nestel English: aglet. As my stepmother said back then: "Well guys, now we know: the tip of a shoelace is called a 'nestel' and in English it's n 'aglet'. Don't know how it's gonna help us in our lives, but here you go."
I used to work at a fabric/craft store and every once in a while a customer would ask me if we sold "that thing at the end of a shoelace" and I would impress them when I told them it's called an aglet. Thanks, Phineas and Ferb, for teaching me a new word!
Its not just a generation of kids who grew up watching Phineas and Ferb, but also all the parents who watched with their kids because it was, quite honestly, the best cartoon we had EVER seen! And now here we all are, tying the world together with the knowledge of aglets and the fact that the platypus is the only mammal to lay eggs.
I don't remember the circumstances, but I wound up learning what an aglet was when I was a kid back in the early 1970s. I got to tell my daughter "That's an aglet!" before the characters in the show got to find out what the tip of a shoelace was called. Wven though she was a 9th grade teenager, she was still appreciatively impressed by her dear old dad. 🙂. I've been watching television for over half a century, and "Phineas and Ferb" is easily in my top 50, and probably top 25 favorite television shows. Definitely top 5 cartoons.
Thank you Mr. Dan because I’m 25 currently and I’m apart of the generation that you touched with this show in general whether it be showing us what a platypus is, or that our imaginations can take us anywhere, or what an aglet is. Thank you for the life lessons and inspiration.
Phineas was a scosche past my cartoon watching days so I got to learn what an aglet was today. Thanks for that, Dan. I process clothing as part of my retail job and I have been calling them "metal guys" for half a decade.
I am 37 and I learned about aglets from this only because my kids at some point put on the episode by accident and it was my first exposure to FandF. I loved it ever since!
Once my class was doing a random fact competition and they asked what the metal thing at the end of a shoelace was and everyone shouted aglet because we all watched phineas and ferb (also we all know the theme song and randomly start singing it)
You did it right! A few days ago I saw a language post of "words most people don't know" which had aglet on it. Half the comment section was "thanks to Phineas and Ferb for teaching me about aglet", "like if you know aglet from Phineas and Ferb", "A G L E T", etc.
My God this man is a freaking genius he basically just f****** change the whole entire thing generation just to know but just to have that whole entire generation know one extra word that nobody will use very much but still at least knows
I always knew what a aglet is I just did realize that this show gave it awareness to it thanks for making a great episode in a masterpiece of a show me povenmire 😃😃
YES that was one of my all time favorite episodes, I’ve never forgotten aglets since I first watched it. Every time someone asks what the tip of the shoelace is called, I whip my head around and yell “AGLET” and then I feel disgusted that they haven’t seen the episode
I remember in middle school we was in English class and the teacher my teacher qas teaching vocab words and one of them was "aglet" infront the class and one kid went "what is that?" And I remember the whole class was like "did u never watch phineas and ferb?!?! And next class as a "assignment" we watch that episode In class for a grade
This episode is the only time I’ve ever heard aglets ever mentioned. Or at least, the only time I remember. And I DO remember it. Safe to say it worked.
Here in Russia translators from Disney struggled to make Aglet song as accurate as they could, and they did it, so that's why me and my sister now know the name of a shoelace tip
I knew what an aglet was because when I was in about 8th grade (about 1980), our school library had a book called The Book of Lists. Lots of fun lists like longest words in the English language, and a list of obscure words. Aglet was on that list.
This man altered the course of the world, on a both huge and insignificant scale at the same time... Like it matters but it doesn't and we all know it
Back in middle school, they would have this "question of the day" at lunchtime. One day the question was "What is an Aglet?" and I was like "Hell yeah I know this!"
he's the reason I still know that at 20
This is a fun description of art

As my stepmother said back then: "Well guys, now we know: the tip of a shoelace is called a 'nestel' and in English it's n 'aglet'. Don't know how it's gonna help us in our lives, but here you go."
Same here with Dutch! I still occasionally find myself singing "N-E-S-T-E-L Nestel!" in my head when trying my shoes. It helped with a crossword once
@@Alicia-zf3nq, jij bent het daadwerkelijk, net als Lawrence Fletcher, in een kruiswoord tegengekomen?! AWESOME!
In my language, the shoelace tip is called "Pinke" and I know that because of this episode. Thank you.
We all just need to accept that Dan controls and shapes the future as he desires.
“ The plastic tips at the ends of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister”
Ever since I was little, I watched Phineas & Ferb, and I never forgot what an aglet was.
One of the most memorable episodes I definitely know what an aglet is
Oh my gosh I actually know what an aglet is all because of this episode. Thank you Dan
There’s a joke about aglets in Dave the Barbarian that always made me remember it, but it was a pretty quick one so P&F def nailed it in
Not a monkey!
fuck dave the barbarian, phineas and ferb did it a thousand times better
Dude I grew up watching Phineas and Ferb and I now know what a aglet is because of it.
Thanks for making the best tv show if all time!
Turns out when you know what an aglet is you actually use it more than you think
“awh my lace is out but my aglet came off”
stuff like that
I used to work at a fabric/craft store and every once in a while a customer would ask me if we sold "that thing at the end of a shoelace" and I would impress them when I told them it's called an aglet. Thanks, Phineas and Ferb, for teaching me a new word!
I love how this episode was referenced in Milo Murphy's Law (The Island of the Lost Dakotas).
This man taught us more than our schools.
You know what, you're right. If I didn't watch that episode, then I wouldn't have known that aglet was the name.
As a 20yo, I’ve never encountered another person that didn’t know what an aglet was because of this episode. Your reach was WILD with this one Dan
Thanks to Phineas and Ferb, I know what an Aglet is
This was one of my favorite episodes 😂
i’m 20 years old, lacing up my first skateboard shoes, and the aglet song has been playing in my head this entire time
Literally you guys informed a generation. Thanks Dan :)
The Question: I know what an aglet is. Their true purpose, however, is sinister.
A G L E T AGLET DONT FORGET IT it’s been 11 years and it lives rent free in my brain
Dan successfully raised aglet awareness
🎶A.G.L.E.T. don't forget it🎶 I love that song and I love aglets on my shoelace and I will never forget aglet until the day I die
This show is honestly genius. My childhood 😭
The fact that I do just makes me proud
How dare you teach me without me realizing it. Good job.
“If we do it right, there will be a whole generation that knows what an aglet is” he knew he was going to influence so many with that show!
The song is still stuck in my head to this day…
A-G-L-E-T it’s called the aglet
I am 37 and I learned about aglets from this only because my kids at some point put on the episode by accident and it was my first exposure to FandF. I loved it ever since!
Can you imagine being able to brag your responsible for a generation of people know an obscure word😂 I can’t either but it’s fucking brilliant.
This is one of the few things I remember from when I was really little. One of the best episodes in my opinion.
Watching your videos makes my whole past flash before my eyes, there are very few cartoons as important to my past as Phineas and Ferb is
Yes, sir. You did indeed teach an entire generation what an aglet is...and this fan has never forgotten it.
Dan you’ve succeeded, this is how I learned what an aglet was.
I got played by Povenmire like a gosh darn fiddle
Just thought about this song at 2AM YEARS later, it’s so powerful I never forgot A G L E T
That song still lives in my head rent free after all these years
That singular episode taught a whole generation what an aglet was
My God this man is a freaking genius he basically just f****** change the whole entire thing generation just to know but just to have that whole entire generation know one extra word that nobody will use very much but still at least knows
A.G.L.E.T. sounds like a cool acronym…
Dan trolling us all with that person yelling in the background... Making me think that my mother is calling me.
The fact that a whole generation actually knows what an aglet is because of this one episode is kind blowing
I always knew what a aglet is I just did realize that this show gave it awareness to it thanks for making a great episode in a masterpiece of a show me povenmire 😃😃
The fact they managed to teach the majority of a whole generation what an aglet is is absolutely insane.
"A G L E T
AGLET! WIE TO KAŻDY!"
After so many years I still remember the horus of this song :')
YES that was one of my all time favorite episodes, I’ve never forgotten aglets since I first watched it. Every time someone asks what the tip of the shoelace is called, I whip my head around and yell “AGLET” and then I feel disgusted that they haven’t seen the episode
And it's really insane that we also got the "I am a superstar!!" clip out of that as well.
Phineas and Ferb: has an aglet episode
Me every time I look at shoe laces 10 years after: A G L E T AGLET!
I just turned 25 today and, yes, this episode taught me the word Aglet, and I never forgot.
Well this episode worked. Out of every TV show that tried to mention the aglet, this is the only show that helped me REMEMBER the name.
"A" "G" "L" "E" "T", one of the most memorable songs of this show.
I still haven't forgotten about it. Thanks Phineas and Ferb and Dan
im proud to be part of the generation that knows what an aglet is
I have that song, in a folder, in my head that lives there rent free. Along with countless others.
I can proudly say I knew what an aglet was before Phineas and Ferb.
Ahh yes. The only episode of a show that taught me about the aglet. Best years of my life watching that show.
This episode taught me something I never forgot.
Aglet was on that list.
whenever i look at the tip of my shoelace, i just faintly hear "A-G-L-E-T, AGLET, DOM'T FORGET IT" and even after years, i still hear it
