So I'm 55 years old..... and in 1978 I won my first BMX race going around a motorcycle flat track on a full suspension Yamaha bicycle... I was 13 years old and I still have that trophy .. here I am 42 years later watching Connor Fields ride.... What can you say? .. people like me started this sport not having any idea what would happen. We were just young kids out having fun, testing and building our skills any way we could. I was in Vietnam a few years back visiting my wife's family on a remote island in the Mekong River Delta region... It's very remote there and accessible only by boat.. And here comes some kid down the dirt path riding..... a BMX bike.... I couldn't believe it. You never know the impact you have when your young... Anyway... Great job Connor!!! you've done our generation well and we salute you.
Like a Gazelle on a BMX being chased by a cheetah....Wish we had the 100 ft. Starting ramps, 1979 we had 10 - 20 max. Georgia clay, Florida sand and crushed seashells. Pedal Power. REDLINE PROLINE forever. Raced indoor at Bay front arena in St. Petersburg FL. Ran complete slicks and sprayed PJ1 chain on tires, as per a Pro gave me a secret at the age of 13. Stuck like glue to the smooth polished concrete. Won several motos, 3rd overall. Great times...!
Studying in school is super hard for me because my focus keeps shifting to something else. I am studying the way you jump and manual and petal manual and sneaking in a few cranks between jumps and it’s so amazing how you make this look so easy. I’m just waiting for the day I become pro.
