    Important correction: My finished Hawk weighs 1.7 ounces, not five or so as I mention in the video. Apologies!
    Click here for a special offer on the Hawk: www.minimumrc....
    In this video I will go over the kit and build of the BAE Hawk electric ducted fan radio control model airplane from www.MinimumRC.com.
    The Hawk is a unique kit using lightweight plywood and foam to build a very realistic looking RC model airplane. The website has a very complete photo illustrated construction manual that describes step by step how to construct the model. Also included are lightweight printed plastic parts for the motor shroud and the needed electric motor and impeller.
    The plane builds quickly and I had mine done in two days. The center of gravity is listed along with the control throws at the end of the directions and the model balanced out at 4.5 ounces, a very lightweight model airplane.
    The electric ducted fan produces plenty of thrust for this small model. Be sure to give the plane a good push forward during the hand launch to ensure sufficient airspeed for flight.
    The flight controls were balanced and effective. Roll control is sensitive, which I think is a combination of the swept wing layout and amount of control throw I had. Flying at reduced throttle helped smooth out the control inputs.
    Keep in mind inflight orientation is a challenge as both the top and bottom of the airplane is red. Do try to fly as close in as you are able.
    Overall I am very pleased with this model. The kit is well designed and I learned a lot from building it.

    No fair! I saw this little bird a few weeks ago on another channel and immediately tried to buy one. PayPal was not cooperating, so I had a few hours to talk myself off the ledge. And now here you are living your best life. One reason I opted out is that I can barely keep my umx foamie in the air with gyros and auto level, so this might have to wait. I do admire your smooth flying.

      Hi Ken: Do consider making the Hawk. Very affordable kit, and straightforward to build. Just keep the control throws at 4 mm, around 1/8"! 😁 Tim

    I built their spitfire, it really was a lot of fun to build. The retractable landing gear worked, I don't know if I'd try and land on them or not, but they did go up and down nice. Mine was somewhat nose heavy, I did balance it out and made a few successful flights before the wind picked up. It was way more durable than I had expected. I received a free KI 61, and ordered their butterfly T1, that should be here any day now. These really are a lot of fun.

    I ordered one of these because I loved the Minimum RC Macchi M-33. I fly it off my little pond all the time. I can't wait to get the Minimum RC BAE Hawk. This video is going to help a lot. Thanks, Tim. I love Minimum RC planes. I didn't use the included glue I used Foam Tac and Bob Smiths Industries Foam Cure glue. I think they give you Uhu_por glue which works the same way. The glue that came with my Macchi M-33 was starting to yellow like it was old or exposed to air which is why I opted not to use it and use Beacon Foam Tac and BS Foam Cure.

    Great video Tim as always! I've never seen a build like that before but I'm definitely interested. They make a geared Spitfire with retractable landing gear that I'm very interested in now. I would have liked to seen more of the build though. Have a great day Tim! Cheers!

    • @TimMcKay56
      @TimMcKay56  4 часа назад

      It depends how you ordered it from the website. MinimumRC asked me to do the review and sent me all the components I need to complete. On the website it is pretty clear in the selection menus how many servos, receivers, batteries, transmitters, chargers, etc. you will need. It just so happens that the ESC/receiver can bind to my Spektrum, DX6 transmitter, so no need for a new transmitter. If you contact Minimum at their support email, they get right back to you.
