  • My tutorial how to change the damper oil to match your payload on the Razor or N2 Mini Star Head. For the Razor you need to unscrew the top plate to reach the screws holding the Dampers. For both Heads ALWAYS first unscrew the dampers on the outside, not destroying the small inner side screws thread. When mounting the dampers back fit the inner side screws first. Thats essential for the Dampers with springs.

    Cool! Thanks for sharing!!!
Why not just order the pro version with adjustable damping? Is the damping force to stiff for smaller setups?

The pro head comes useful with more heavy setups like Ronin 2 / Movi Pro with Komodo etc. for less no need to spend the money on the pro head. The first series of N2 mini came with some 1000 CST oil that is to soft for everything. Second series is around 3000 CST and the heavy add on dampers are around 5000 CST. For matching the current payload I suggest N2 users change their oil according to the table in the video @2:50

@@BeeSView Thank you for the detail reply. From rental perspective, it make sense to just get the pro head and ditch the original star head. Only concern for me is that if the Pro head is too stiff for small and light setups. Do you think the Pro head is too stiff for light setups? How do you like the Pro head?

@@ericwu0318 the pro head can easy handle a small setup as well. The vibration dampening is done similar to the starhead with the honeycomb rubber inlet’s but it’s 3 per fastening point. The head comes with medium honeycomb rubbers installed and a set of heavy load ones. I suggest to get 9 lightweight rubbers as well to have the head as flexible as possible for renting. The pro head is working really good. From the renting perspective you have to take into account it will not fit into the N2 case and it does not come with a case.
