"The most Canon move I've seen Sony do in a long time." Haha, so true!

Dude you get right to the point and never waste my time. Thanks for the information, clear and concise.

Autofocus in cameras like the c200 is so good, you would never have a problem like the one you mentioned where the camera focuses on a fly instead of a face. If you spend time getting used to really good autofocus you’ll learn how it works and you’ll never want to go back. Face tracking is game changing and not just for amateurs.

AF has improved so much and definitely has it's place...It will be the future..To each is own, but I like not having to worry about focusing and concentrating more on the story and shot.

Love your comments, barring your old-school notion that "real professional videographers" don't use or need autofocus. The autofocus taboo is now an outdated one, whereas hybrid auto-focusing systems' performance utterly exceeds what the best human focus pullers can achieve, in many scenarios.
In this age of professional use of cameras in run-and-gun scenarios, pro-level vlogging, extreme sports capture, fast-paced action -- especially toward and away from the lens, and more -- the superiority of Canon's Dual-Pixel AF (which even outdoes Sony's amazing hybrid autofocus system) now enables pro (video and stills) shooters to _confidently_ acquire heretofore unachievable tack-sharp focus in record time, in any number of shoot situations -- even in just 1 take. ;-)
Your heads-up on the minimalist benefits of the Sony FS5ii over its predecessor is immensely appreciated by the way. Pete B

Flash Film Media No need to argue against the point we legitimately raised against your "real videographers don"t want autofocus" generalization and in so doing, cynically limit to a hypothetical F1,2 -- your grasp of our deriding your dual-pixel AF mischaracterization as if it's not desirable for real professionals. The cited claim is no longer universally true, and you'd want to apply honesty and reasonableness to the discussion I'm sure.
But not to worry -- you'll sooner or later concede that the tired, age-old misgivings for AF is beginning to fade with these newer systems for which we -- yes, even you :-) have Sony initially, to thank, because as stated, there are indeed conditions and situations in which hybrid AF systems are indeed the best and most accurate performance option, over a variety of F-stops -- and in some cases, yes, that's needful for _both_ acquiring and _maintaining_ sharp focus. Sweeping generalizations such as you've advanced renders some of your claims about truly pro shooters baseless for today, that's all. And you're correct stating camera quality is getting better, and the AF domain alone is demonstrative proof of that. Peace. [Subscribed!] Pete B.

Lol... This was awesome!!!! How did I not find your channel sooner!?! lol... This was so refreshing! So many of the RUclipsr reviewers that are out today read like fanboys doing a commercial for the manufacturers. They offer 99% pros and a 1% of frivolous cons and even if the product has clear problems with it, we would never know because no matter what the problem is the reviewer will always say that we must buy this new product. It is actually quite sad as some of the independent RUclipsr reviewers have been compromised.
It is nice to hear a tech reviewer that does not just repeat what everyone else have already said... You know the classic... This is the new camera. These are the new specs. Here is the body. Here are the couple of differences from the previous model. And oh yeah... The features are the same and no significant upgrades, just some clean firmware updates with a new logo and changing the color of the nd filter, but you should still drop the bazillion dollars to upgrade. Note: A new person buying a camera? Only makes since to buy the latest and greatest if nothing else for the technical support and warranty. Buuuuut an old head that already has an FS5? For these other reviewers to have the audacity to recommend ponying up the additional loot for no significant upgrade over the previous FS5 is just sad...
In either case.... that's enough praise for your channel today! lol... Hope all your other reviews are as honest as this one.... lol... Peace....

Dude, I jumped the gun and bought me a used FS5 because of this video. Bought it for $3500 then the RAW unlock for 499. So I got me an FS5 mark II for $4,000. Thanks man!

What if you don't have the FS5? I am considering purchasing the FS5 Mark ii and I do not have the FS5. The mark ii comes with the licenses and the price for the mark ii is the same as the current FS5? Just asking for your thoughts since I am looking to enter this realm. Great video tho.

I like your thoughts on the FS5ii. Especially about Sony making it relevant again, but also I think that Sony did this to bundle the FS5 into something new customers like me can afford, because they kept the same price as the original model and threw all the upgrades in plus Venice colors. They made it relevant for people like me looking for something like this that won't break the budget. Yeah Sony knows what they did and you can see they are basically glossing over it barely mentioning its there, so that people will know its relevant for 2018 but won't really convince Original FS5 owners to move over. My guess is that they have a True FS5 ii or something similar in the works and this was just a stop gap to get people to look their way a little longer while they work on the new camera. Just my thoughts.

S1H and fs5ii which one is more better?

Sincere & honest review with a logical approach for current and possibly new FS5 owners. The mk1 still remains relevant for the majority of shooters. Regarding matching mk1 to mk2 - they will only match if the profiles are set to the same one on each camera but the mk2 has a new default profile not available on the mk1 so this will be a lot more difficult to match. For one the new Venice-like color on the mk2 but color aside, the bigger change I see with mk2 is the highlight compression that will really smoothen out the highlights a lot more closely to how ARRI is handling highlights. You can see the big difference in highlight compression in the diagram in the article I wrote on the FS5mkii, and I don't think you'll be able achieve this just by tweaking the camera settings:
    www.hingsberg.com/2018/04/the-new-sony-fs5-mkii-yes-its-a-big-deal/
I heard the mk2 was shipping in June not September, are you sure it's September? Any sources?
    cheers,

I love your speech. I'm totally agree with you about autofocus. A part of our job is to make manual focus, to play with focus. When I hear people complaining about "no autofocus", i'm going crazy ! Back to the bases of our job.
