    Interesting test. I have been using STP oil treatment for over 40 years. I normally start using STP when the vehicle is around 75,000 miles. I have used STP on GMC, Ford, Volvo, and Toyota engines. Every engine has made at least 250,000 miles. I am currently using STP oil treatment on a Toyota Tacoma with 213,000 miles and a Ford Fusion with 127,000 miles with good results. I can't say that the engines had good longevity because of STP, but I can say that the additive did not harm the engines as some have claimed.

      @@jimmyworks3600 My 1998 Toyota now has about 226,O00 miles. The Tacoma still runs great and burns no oil. I sold my 2006 Ford Fusion back in April of 2023. I've used STP treatments all my life with every car I've owned, right now I own a '97 Ram 1500 with a 5.9 360 V8 auto and I use STP after every oil change. Well I wait about a month before putting it in the engine or about 500 miles or so, to allow the oil to work and thin out some. But right now my truck has 269,700 miles on it so far with the original engine and trans, still going strong, I can haul or pull whatever I want, hoping to get a few more 1000s mile out of it. So for me it has worked good over the years, adding life to every car or truck I've owned.

Right now besides the Ram 1500, I have a Nissan Quest van, it's got 178, 400 miles on it so far and my truck has 271,100 miles so far and both still going. Thinking about trading the Nissan off because it's been a pain to work on and still needing work done to it, but it's just my beater everyday driver and if it gets wrecked oh well I'll find something else kind of ride. But the truck means more to me and I hope to maybe fixing it up one day. These types of videos are great. All I can add is I've used STP high mileage in my '95 Lumina and it has reduced oil leaks from lower intake manifold / front cover gaskets. Lifter noise is a little bit less. Zinc is probably good for pushrod engines especially ones without roller rockers. But you might want a non zinc version (Lucas) if you have a car with a catalytic converter. My 95' doesn't have an O2 sensor downstream of the cat so I'm not particularly worried if the zinc kills the cat.

      @cpufreak101 4 года назад +1

      @@1000blabbities API is pretty strict with their standards (SN, SM, etc) to get the API donut for ratings. Recently from how strict it's got, some high performance oil companies have broke with the API standards to do their own thing, for example Royal Purple now cannot include synerlic in an API rated oil as it does not meet the SN specification, but Royal purple claims a technical reason for the extra antiwear additives that make it out of spec.
      TLDR, not being bound to having to meet an API specification allows oil manufacturers to do their own thing really.

    Good video for those who are scared that it won't be capatable with their car due to the thickness. I believe it glings to the engine parts better than normal oil. I have a 2003 Cadillac CTS and when I put that new Lucas stabilizer for low viscosity, the car felt so much quieter. Not a placebo neither. I kept noticing it and noticing it. I'm like yo this car feels smooth right now. Not that it wasn't smooth already. But I definitely felt smoother. The car sounds like it's not even on. Also I noticed my acceleration had more power. Trust me. That New Lucas in the 12oz bottle is some good stuff. I was surprised. Note* what I did was do an oil change with STP high mileage synthetic & I used a Lucas Low Viscosity Stabilizer when I changed the oil. I do my oil changes every 2+3 months. Somtimes every month just to be safe. Oils cheap. Engine ain't. So when I tried the Lucas, it felt like a really good oil change. Trust me.

Also, I have had good luck with Restore in older engines and it has been proven to significantly increase compression by several people. Other than that I'm not a fan. Think about it- If all these additives were really so wonderful and had no harmful side effects, why wouldn't high end oils like Amsoil already include them? A well maintained and properly designed engine will easily last several hundred thousand miles with no additives whatsoever.

    It's basically Ester+PAO which has cleaning effect. You don't need to pay for this additives if you simply buy FULLY SYNTHETIC oil in first place which is made of Ester and PAO. Also, true synthetic oils ester and PAO have much lower pour point that normal oils around 30-40 percent. Unless you cool down the oils below -45°C, there won't be any different in the viscosity of both oils.

    Good video,
    I've never used STP but have heard good things...
    Imo no need for STP if the oil your using has good chemistry and has high enough zinc levels already in the oil like 1100 ppm and above as long as you don't have a catalytic converter on your vehicle as the high zinc can clog the cat that's why they have lowered zinc level in the newer oils with SN Api specs.
    In vehicles and equipment with no cats this definitely could help if the oil your using doesn't have high Zinc levels already.....
    Only other concern would be COMPATABILITY of the motor oil and the STP components, I prefer to use a top quality motor oil like Amsoil ZROD with HIGH ZINC already in it so there is no problems with compatability of all the ingredients of the two products being mixed.....

    Overtime or 3000 mile oil changes which is what's that's designed for it will, it would cut the wire down by half plus it has jink and all the stuff the EPA took out of the oil in the 90s which also helped wear any reason it took it out because they claimed it would harm catalytic converters the truth is that might but it will take 20 years for it to harm the catalytic converter in any modern car STP synthetic oil for newer engines with higher clearances company bearings and that's why it's thinner than the Lucas or the traditional blue STP so I've used it for years and not

    Please tell me: During the lubricity test, did the STP blend generate a lot of air bubbles? It is a major cause of oxidation and cavitation....was the STP blend foaming or bubbling?

    in kuwait its 54 celsius in some areas in 2pm these days summer and when i heat soak the engine (drive in traffic , accelerate hard and stop hard and do it again) the the valve trains begins to dance and jiggle (oil thins out so quickly ) i hate the new factory recommended motorcraft 5w-20 full synth

    I’ve only had one experience with stp 10w40 in my 79 gs1000 motorcycle. I always used Valoline but the store close to me only had that weight in stp and penzoil. I chose the stp and after one ride my bike was leaking badly from places it barely seeped from before. Not saying it’s a horrible oil but my advice is to stick to one brand because other brands contain different additives and chemicals that can cause weird stuff to happen to your seals.

However, i've also read comments from other people where they've mentiomed that they've used additives on their cars about as new as mine including Hondas, and they were VVVERY satisfied with the results. I think after seeing your tests, I would like to put a 20% combo of Marvel Mystery Oil/STP. The Marvel Mystery Oil helped with sheer, cleaning and flow, and the STP also helps with sheer and possibly cleaning, but wasn't that good with flow. Maybe, use Super Tech Synthetic to keep cost lower and have a premix readily available for whenever my high mileage 2 cars need an oil change. Thanks for your tests. its not that surprising since the oil you used was very low viscosity i am very sure though that if you used that stp on an engine requiring 0w20 it would do more harm than good since most of these engines have variable valve timing or/and hidraulic valve lifters plus there is a small chance that if the oil filter is small or of bad quality it would fail prematurely due to increased pressure of the oil that said it might be a very good choice in an engine with significant wear

    I wonder if such oil Additive can be added to a high quality fully synthetic motor oil such as Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil.
