    I don’t know if anyone has already commented on this but check out your shifter boot because if it is even slightly cracked or over stretched you will be getting rain water in the oil and please forgive me if you already know this.
    But I had so much condensation in my 8N when it was really cold maybe about-23 degrees Celsius and I was going to clean some snow and after about 10 minutes my 3 PTH wouldn’t lift and more a I figure I had a major problem but when I pulled my dipstick out of the hydraulic pump it was like a popsicle so I heated it up with a Tiger torch got it moving again but when I parked it I took the plug out drained what I could and then I took the inspection plate with the dipstick off and used a screw driver and cleaned as much as I could around and valve and never had a problem again Just thought I would share it with you keep that old iron running my friend 😀🇨🇦

    I just saw you had the part number in this video. I watched the other one first. You impress me young man. Your parents did a great job of raising you! Please keep the Ford 8n videos coming! Great job!😀👍

    Dumb question. Its my first tractor. So, sorry: When you drain the transmission under the shift lever (bottom) and the hydraulic reservoir under the top cover of the hydraulics (bottom), does that drain the differential? Is there another plug for the differential? Do I fill the differential with different fluid and from a different place than the transmission? Thank you!

    Just take the dip stick to auto zone and ask if they have a new one. Also say that this one doesn't reach the oil anymore, just to see what they say

    Thanks for the Video!! Did you use a full 5 gallons of Diesel to flush it or can you get by with a little less?

    You should be able to fix your dipstick either braise it with a torch or lightly weld it as in don't get it too hot that isn't very thick metal another trick to adding oil in anyting is pull the dipstick out a little ways so it has a way for air to get in or out then when you're adding the oil that won't burp at you I think you better put a 5 gallon bucket or something over your shifter till you get the boot replace so no more water gets in

    • @whathobogrohknows
      @whathobogrohknows  3 года назад

      I got the dipstick lightly welded. thank you for the tip for adding oil👍. I put some heavy grease under the old boot right now, a new one is on it’s way, so hopefully there won’t be any rain/snow for a few days.

    Thanks for making this video. I just have one question, that dipstick that broke, does that indicate the amount of oil you have in the transmission? I have that same dipstick and it reads on the full mark but when I look down that fill opening on the top of the transmission it looks bone dry in there. I can se the gears and they look a little wet but I can see all the way to the bottom, no oil.

    • @whathobogrohknows
      @whathobogrohknows  2 года назад +2

      It should be up to the top of the fill mark. As for the gears being a little wet, that is normal. Those gears will spin very fast and throw oil up everywhere. And it will be good with the oil to the top of the line. If you are worried about it not getting up high enough you can put a Lucas oil additive for gearboxes

    Question for you. If I take the forward most transmission plug out as well as the smaller one right at the back. Do I have to take out the big plug in between? I absolutely cannot get it to break loose

    • @whathobogrohknows
      @whathobogrohknows  2 года назад

      If you have a oxy torch and heat it up the area but not read hot and then spray it cold with water right after it’ll break free. But I can check my parts books later today to see if only pulling out the 2 plugs

    • @whathobogrohknows
      @whathobogrohknows  2 года назад

      I looked at my parts manual and it does appear that you can take out the 2 but it will not drain all of it

    Why is the fluid white?

    • @whathobogrohknows
      @whathobogrohknows  Год назад +1

      That’s water and oil mixed. Water gets in there usually from the the shifter boot leaking or condensation from sitting. That’s why it’s Always important to change the transmission oil annually or semi annually at least.
