I like the using the hand covering the head when in bottom side control to prevent him cross facing you. My question is: if you are doing this do you need to worry about him pinning your arm to the mat and maybe pinning it down with his knee?
Hi Ben, there is always a possibility of course but if he is trying to pin your arm down he is not trying to cross-face you anymore, so that would be the opportunity to start escaping.
Dear Professor Gustavo, I had an "a-ha" moment today during drilling, and we ended up putting that into the exercise. I want to ask your opinion on it. (Sorry it is not related to the technique in the video). When you do a sit-up sweep successfully you end up in mount position. Now it really looks like to me that since you arrive with both hands on one side of the oppenent's head, that it is a good opportunity to try to set up a mounted guillotine from there. You are in a good position to try to do it. What is your opinion on it? Than you very much & Have an awesome day!
Absolutely MrSarky1992 , connecting moves together is one of the things that differentiates beginners from more advanced students. You could also go to a reverse armbar or americana from that same position after landing on top, depending on how your opponent moves his arm.
@2:37: Didn't you just give him your right arm? He can use his left leg to pin your right arm or swing his right leg through for a scarf hold that isolates your right arm. I'm sure you have counter-measures, but it really looks like you're giving your right arm.
As you know Jiu Jitsu is always dynamic and actions create reactions. He is trying to cross face me so I'm blocking it, if he changes his plan I will also have to change mine. In other words, if he's trying to pin my arm down or transition to a scarfhold he is not rrying to cross face me anymore.
white belt , i always , always get smashed againt big pp if my weight or under , i ll manage , but 30 kg above me .... they just crash me my coach told me this morning to focus on frame cause i do silly mistake
The science of framing is interesting, effective, and very well needed. So thank you for giving us this insight.

Brilliant Jiu Jitsu! These are the details that make Jiu Jitsu feel like someone is doing magic on you.
Good to hear from you Aaron!
Thank you. Great examples. I wish you could show more of this especially the ones that prevent guard passing and smashing, giving me the pressure.

So genius yet so simple..
Fav frame is the stiff arm against the hips before the throw
Awesome!
Amazing stuff
Liked the holding pants and putting leg behind fist frame. That would be frustrating for the opponent.
indeed
When is the full course on frames coming out?
Thanks for the suggestion :)
Elbow on the thigh frame to negate the stack pass. Osu!
💯

You are welcome Doug!
Im 6 months into training amd need to get better at everything, especially this
Hi, is there a difference between a frame and structure or are they the same?
A structure is built by the usage of your bone structure alone, no muscle is involved.
Frames involve muscles, the less muscle the better the frame.

My favorite frame is a plain black frame. Very versatile, it works on any background and doesn't take away from the painting.
So basically, try to be lazy
Not exactly, but it may help :)
Great video!
Thank you!
