I was a kid during the 1970s and loved when my parents played ABBA on the "Hi-Fi". That's speak for LP record player with and amp, and dual speakers. Their music is so well-written that it is timeless.
@@dorojessy6932I don’t like D.Grohl . He is trying to shove yourself in every hole. In every tv show , radio ,rock show and … everywhere . I don’t like people like him .
I must be the minority here, I can't stand ABBA to me they sound like vacuous drivel (albeit with great vocal harmonies I must admit) But I know Jon Lord loved them and was friends with Frida. Now I'm discovering Ritchie and Cozy liked them as well Clearly I need to revisit the ABBA catalogue with an open mind
THOSE BANDS WERE IMMENSE IN THOSE DAYS. STILL LOVE THAT MUSIC. RITCHIE IS GUITAR GOD. DIO. ONE MY FAVORITE FRONT MEN. . HE APPRECIATED THE FANS. HE ALWAYS SAID. YOU HAVE US WE HERE CAUSE YOU
ABBA made a lot of great music and as a heavy metal guitarplayer/composer and a Swede i like them. I wouldnt say that i am influenced by them thoigh but i am quite influenced by Rainbow, Dio era.
More than pop songs, that is why they are loved by all musicians and fans from multiple genres. The musically inclined pick out all the baroque, classical and folk in their writing. ABBA understood how to put multiple genres together in a song and make it seamless. As for the girls. Lots of good looking girls music. Those ABBA girls, Anni-Frid and Agnetha were opposite voice types, opposite personalities, opposite styles, but sung together as if they were siblings singing together their whole life. Anni-Frid sung like a classically trained vocalist. Agnetha sung like a pop singer. Very unique pairing and it worked. Tons of bands have tried to copy the ABBA girls sound/third voice/high unison/harmonies, but have failed.
Actually, I find it interesting, why nobody mentions Boney M and especially Teach-In. Teach-In were incredibly versatile, unique and optimistic. Their first two albums are true masterpieces!
I am a drummer, not a guitarist, (and amateur not professional] that being said my favorite rock/blues guitarists of all time in order are 1. Ritchie Blackmore 2. Roy Buchanan 3. Duane Allman. I don't think its possible to overstate my reverence for Ritchie as a guitarist. He has a unique sound and tone instantly recognizable (as did Roy and Duane which is why they're also on my Mount Rushmore). That being said I must respectfully disagree with the living God of the Stratocaster when it comes to ABBA. This probably has something to do with the fact that my parents played all of their albums ad nauseam when I was growing up while I was far more interested learning the drums by ear to Vanilla Fudge, Deep Purple, Rainbow, The Allman Brothers, Traffic, and the Dixie Dregs. I've never been drawn to popular music unless rearranged as a jazz, fusion, or prog rock standard. For instance I thought Deep Purple's cover of the Beatles song Help on Shades of Deep Purple was superior to the original. Anecdotally, John Lennon agreed and said that Deep Purple's version captured the melancholic angst which he had envisioned for the song before McCartney and the producers sanitized it. Kudos to Lord Blackmore and the late great Jon Lord for restoring his vision of the song. Now I must go and revisit ABBA to discern what I'm missing. 💯🤣🙈 I trust and value Lord Blackmore's opinion so unequivocally that I must do a deep dive on ABBA and give them another chance.
Good musicians are influenced by all sorts of music, as long as it is quality, real music. And the way you can tell is that good music stands the test of time. Are people listening to ABBA 50 years later? Yes, by the millions. Will they be listening to ABBA in another 50 years from now? Most likely. Same applies for Rainbow and Deep Purple. They've made some immortal records.
It's like all kinds of musicians loving The Beatles, it is undeniable. They changed music, and ABBA did the same as well. They both have such an amazing musical reach. Used to feel embarrassed about liking ABBA, but I don't care about it now and I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
@YourNeighbor1 every band sings covers early on. Probably doing Beatles covers. Elf was hard rock. The Vegas Kings I think was his first band. Mostly duo op
I love ABBA too although I played thrash metal and refused to listen and play anything less rock. ABBA is an exception. Now after retired from playing guitar, I open to any type of music except ... you know ... the popular ones I hate.
Wonder if that was the same château that Elton John and the Bee Gees had recorded at. How Deep Is Your Love was written in a room there that Chopin had used.
Dima likes ABBA too. You, highway star, get on the road. Get your engine running, you know... And record new rock heavy 80s rock album! Dima likes 80s music. Dima dig retrowave, you know. There are some cool musicians, and rock guitar riffs there. So, come on, jump into the fire! Make a 80s hot rock legend record, one more time! I see you are in a cool mood and health! And it is so cool summer.... I am a highway star too! Cause it is my fav song..ok, one of my fav songs.... You know... it was a big memorie....
Ever since I was a toddler I was listening to both ABBA and Rainbow. You gotta love the music.
Ritchie Blackmore - Champion & Legend with a brilliant sense of humour and an ability to recognise songwriting genius.
abba had great melodies. Ritchie is all about a good melody
Love you guys,,i also liked Abba....And Purple and Sabbath..
Really really really miss Cozy. What a great loss. RIP Cozy.

I love ABBA too. I'm glad they do as well.
Many rockers love ABBA, for instance Lemmy, Pete Townshend, and even Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious listened to them.
And the front man from Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl.

Great storyteller !
How can anyone not like Abba?
THOSE BANDS WERE IMMENSE IN THOSE DAYS. STILL LOVE THAT MUSIC. RITCHIE IS GUITAR GOD. DIO. ONE MY FAVORITE FRONT MEN. .

If you're a great songwriter (like Richie) how can you not like ABBA
Undeniable, they are!! 🙌🏻
懐かしいですね。キャンディ若くて可愛い❤️ですね。リッチーいつまでも元気に長生きしてください。そして、日本にまたいつか来てください。ありがとうございました。
ABBA was also Sid Vicious favourite band, he adored ABBA 😃
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🇸🇪
Primeiro Like Ritchie !!! Ritchie, nós do Brasil iríamos adorar ver você e sua Banda tocando RAINBOW e DEEP PURPLE aqui no ROCK'N RIO ... Venham !!!
I'm glad I'm not the only headbanger who likes ABBA.
Anyone who loves a great pop melody must love at least one ABBA song.
ABBA is great - Agnetha is the prettiest women who ever existed and her angelic voice
ABBA made a lot of great music and as a heavy metal guitarplayer/composer and a Swede i like them. I wouldnt say that i am influenced by them thoigh but i am quite influenced by Rainbow, Dio era.
At long last these two worlds got united )
ABBA rocks!
I love ABBA, yet i love Beatles, Zeppelin, Floyd, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, Metallica and many more.
and nearly all you mention liked A B B A,a few to excess
I do have to agree w Mr Cozy. Music is sport for drummers/guit players....song writing for masses is a different. As later Depeche Mode.
Ronnie was all ways per plexed
ABBA made well crafted pop songs, and had 2 hot Swedish chicks as well. A tough combination to beat.

Poor old Ronnie.
Nice wig
Ronnie stayed true though.
ABBA were great performers but even better songwriters. Total geniuses.
I would give anything to have a night with Ritchie Blackmore and listening to his stories all night long. 🎶
I can just picture those guys having a good buzz singing loudly along to S.O.S. 😁
All except for Ronnie James Dio I cannot see him doing it
ABBA forever
Good music is good music. I like abba too

Every rock and metal fan loves ABBA.
Good music is just that - good music.
I've always loved ABBA, then as I got older, heavy metal/rock as well. You can't spell Sabbath without ABBA! 😎
Ritchie, share more light out of black moments, they suit you mate.
I love ABBA too! :)
It's ok to like ABBA & Fleetwood Mac ...
... so long as you're into Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, and AC/DC.
El guitarrista más grande. Reimbow. Deep purple, ❤
Thats so awesome Lol

I'm embarrassed about liking Blackmore night.
Of course Ronnie was perplexed lol. He was metal to the core!

Well, I've been a Classic Rock person since I was about 6 years old and I have to agree: ABBA were and are f*cking class. ❤
