It seems like Ritchie has changed Even within the last decade or so. Although I don't know him personally I've been following him since before I was old enough to pick up my first guitar. I hate that younger people don't appreciate what he's done for music in general much less the hard Rock genre being basically royalty to the sound. But he seems happier you can tell when he's around his children he just glows; and Candice is gracious enough to show personal photos of family together and you can just see proud dad beaming. Showing his sense of humor during live streams. I know he's had a history of being aloof and distant but being in front of the camera and doing this shows that he really cares about his fans. I love it when they do the live streams and you get to see more than just a few minutes of Richie's character and personality not to mention his incredible musical talents. Such a magical blend with Candice's Angelic voice it's just a beautiful thing to watch and listen to. Thank you Ritchie for doing this and giving us all the magical music and stage presence throughout all these years somebody needed to say thank you. When he says 'we' does he mean 'he'? Ritchie Blackmore is an inspirational player, by the way. Melodic and structured in contrast to the guitar shredders who don't seem to know what a melody is! My top three guitarists (1) Hendrix (2) Blackmore (3) Clapton.

Ritchie has so many different influences blues classical to name a few that make him the most unique player out there.. I've never heard a bad Blackmore album.
Try to think and then dig deep and think about any guitar player that was even close to Ritchie Blackmore before Richie Blackmore... Before him there was nothing like the style he played
There is no doubting Ritchie Blackmores ability and prowess as a guitar player, he is simplyan icon of rock! However he is one strange and awkward character. Between Deep Purple and Rainbow there are many musicians that would vouch for his bombastic, arrogant vitriolic behaviour.
Anyone know when this interview actually took place? Upload date was only two weeks ago, but to my eyes Blackmore looks too cherubic here for it to be recent. Anyone?
I'm going to have to take Richie's side on every argument... Ian Gillen is a great singer. That being said.. Sebastian Bach or any other young guy could fill his spot almost. There's not another guitar player on the planet that could fill Ritchie Blackmore's spot. EVER.
I wonder why Ritchie doesn't mention Uriah Heep at the beginning of the video. I would count them among Britain's foremost classic Rock bands in the early 70s. Perhaps not on the same level as LZ and DP, but certainly on par with BS. BTW sometimes I wonder if Ritchie and Ken Hensley would have gotten along 😉(probably not, but musicwise I think it could have been quite interesting).
Blackmore was a better player than Page and even Clapton.... however, his attitude, his quitting/firings , etc all adds up to the point where he's ONLY ranked in the top 30 .....its abysmal and wrong. This guy was technically BETTER than many players ranked ahead of him
I hate when Purple members down play Purple. You never hear Zep or Sabbath do that. I’d say everything done by Mark 2 peaking with Made in Japan would be considered as “arrived”. Come on… those albums are still talked about over 50 years after their released dates. Each musician in that band are still considered some of the best in their respective instruments based on that period.
Im 67...still gigging...been thru hell but still a fast country picker. Seen Blackmore many times. He was an influence on me amongst many others. After Made in Japan his playing took a dive. He just fakes it live.. He says he never considered himself a star..🤣....he's the biggest Primadonna and poser of all time...
It's more complicated than that. Between 69--72' He was practically untouchable in His Genre. It's true that After that period He Did Not progress technically. But then again, He acquired All the skill He needed early on for that type of music. What is important is that He was able to Evolve with Times and use the same little theory needed for the type of music to come up with magnificent memorable tunes over the years. Yes, He had some horrible live performances. But I think it was due to his Mood rather than His lack of Skillful playing. His stage presence was larger than life as His body moved with the music in ways Other deadbeat players could never achieve. With his eccentric behavior and Talent coupled together He created a larger than life image. His Solos are more memorable than Everyone else's put together. I don't give a Fu c k who comes and who goes...there will Never be another R.B !!

Don't mess with the food, man! It's the first rule of rock n roll.
👍👍
A great example of a song other than SOTW is The Painter.
Amazing DP tune.
Even now, Ritchie can make something as basic as a major scale sound new and extraordinary.
(:
Un mito..un genio ..un maestoso chitarrista che andrebbe clonato. Come lui ,nessuno .immenso.
I'm surprised Ritchie didn't mention Jethro Tull as he has always stated his fondness for their music. He says they borrowed heavily from Hendrix. If Ritchie say that, then that's the way it is. I just don't hear it. To my ears, Ritchie is 10 times the guitarist Hendrix could ever hope to be, but he is a very humble person. This is a great interview.
,,,,, one of the best guitar players ever, I hope the tomato sauce incident is solved between Ian and Ritchie ,,,,,,,, Long Live Rock&Roll !!!!!!
I think Blackmore meant Clapton with "Free Creek" and not Free. Two different bands.
"Free Creek was a band composed of many internationally renowned musical artists, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Emerson, Mitch Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt, who recorded one album, in 1969, in a 'super session' format" source Wikipedia
Fireball does have some great songs, Fireball, The Mule, and the incredibly unique Fools.
Deep Purple MK3 is by far THE BEST lineup!
MK2
@@allandgraf482 Hughes and Coverdale WAY above Gillan and Glover
@@margix1172 In Rock, brilliant; Fireball, very good. Machine Head, their best album, Who Do We Think We Are, good. Burn, great, Stormbringer, average.
@@allandgraf482 Burn Great Stormbringer Greater Come taste the band the Greatest the rest is average rock n'roll for people that only wanna listen the mediocre smoke on the water until they die.
@@margix1172 So, ín your opinion their greatest album is the one he didn't play on? :)
Ritchie has so many different influences blues classical to name a few that make him the most unique player out there..
I've never heard a bad Blackmore album.
Agreed. He had a 'signature' tune, simply called "Blues" that he often performed live and I would have liked him to have done an entire blues album.
Richie - your high point was and always will be RAINBOW RISING!!!!!!!
I listened to purple and zeppelin when i was 16.........now i am 63 and listen to purple and zeppelin, funny that 😅
His mannerisms are very similar to those of Tony Banks. I feel like they could understand each other well.
Try to think and then dig deep and think about any guitar player that was even close to Ritchie Blackmore before Richie Blackmore...
Before him there was nothing like the style he played
Clapton = Cream! 😂😂😂
Not a word about the Stones. :)
Anyone know when this interview actually took place?
Upload date was only two weeks ago, but to my eyes Blackmore looks too cherubic here for it to be recent.
Anyone?
Not a gray hair either.. amazing..
This Photo is about 20 years or so.......and .........and is an open secret that Blackmore wears a wig.......since the late 70ies
it's amazing that you still care after all these years! Is it really important? 🤣
the Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart of hard rock : Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath.
0:34 "Eric Clapton with Free. Fantastic band." Did Ritchie means Cream, or am I unaware of that Clapton Band "Free"?
Free had paul kossoff as the guitarist.
I love the fact that he doesnt give a fuck
That should be the only comment here!🤘
So delete my response😉🤘
At last we knows who is really Ritchie Blackmore besides all the nonsence they're talking about him...."im just a musician whos can paid my bills"....
Maybe he meant "I Feel Free" by Cream?
I'm going to have to take Richie's side on every argument...
Ian Gillen is a great singer.
That being said..
Sebastian Bach or any other young guy could fill his spot almost.
There's not another guitar player on the planet that could fill Ritchie Blackmore's spot.
EVER.
What about Steve Marriott's bands, The Small Faces and Humble Pie? Where does The Who fit into all this?
I wonder why Ritchie doesn't mention Uriah Heep at the beginning of the video. I would count them among Britain's foremost classic Rock bands in the early 70s. Perhaps not on the same level as LZ and DP, but certainly on par with BS.
BTW sometimes I wonder if Ritchie and Ken Hensley would have gotten along 😉(probably not, but musicwise I think it could have been quite interesting).
I actually Always preferred Heep over Purple in many ways! Ken was a Genius!
RB IS GOD
Why has he given me an impression of a fly with one wing removed spinning round and round on the same place ?
...but this interview is not of 2022, absolutely...
It's from i think around 2001 . Vh1 played some parts of this back during that time .
Right, he looks like he did in the video where he said he was planning to ambush Gillan with some Swedish friends or something like that ;-)
Blackmore was a better player than Page and even Clapton.... however, his attitude, his quitting/firings , etc all adds up to the point where he's ONLY ranked in the top 30 .....its abysmal and wrong. This guy was technically BETTER than many players ranked ahead of him
A Pagar lo respeto y lo pongo al lado de Richie pero a Clapton te lo regalo guitarrista del mundo prefiero a Jhonny Winters
And you have definite proof he fakes it live? You can swear that with an affidavit in court if he was to put a lawsuit your way?
@@DOUBLEDTRAVEL 😁😆😅🤣😂
@@highwaystar3780I can, confidently say that Ritchie s music is so meaningful to me, to the degree that any Rainbow tune never fail to put me in the Best mood ever, nowadays i don't have the time to play it exclusively everyday, but never becomes boring or unworthy of my admiration, period. Prime (69-72) Ritchie s THE Best rock guitar god ever, his style was the ultimate, bigtime. The most influential on electric guitar in my life, i can't describe how much i like his playing, even in Blackmore s Night. Can't figure out how to put into words how grateful i am for this lifetime of mine experiencing Ritchie Blackmore s great music until my last breath. Theres good music/musicians in life, and then theres Blackmore.
I composed Smoke on the water. Way back then, I did ask them to change the lyrics they wrote, when they brought them by for my approval, to smoke in the air. But they explained to me it represents that fine mist coming off a lake during early morning hours...:-(
Blackmore may not know this, but I also composed for Freddy in Queen....probably why he really liked the music...;-)
Surprise!
He probably had no idea what he and his music meant for us, who were unlucky and living on the other side of the Iron Curtain
