Dating to 1965, these TV commercials for Hasbro's "Little Miss No Name" explains the reasons that it "needs more love than any doll you've ever had." Designed by Deet D’Andrade, Little Miss No-Name had arms that extended in a "begging" position and resembled a refugee or orphan. The doll was apparently inspired by the wide-eyed, sad child paintings of Margaret Keane. The utterly bereft and heartbroken Little Miss No Name came dressed in a raggedy burlap sack without shoes. You might say she was the antithesis of Mattel's Barbie, with a large plastic teardrop spilling down her cheek. The doll was not a commercial success but decades later achieved something of cult status among collectors owing to its unique design and rarity.
The song at 1:10 says, "She's Little Miss No Name, she's lonely and blue ... she needs someone to hold her, someone who cares..."

How could you say that she’s creepy?! I couldn’t help but cry while watching it!
I cried too. I know all too well what it’s like to be unwanted and unloved by the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally. I wanted nothing more than to get her some shoes, put her in a pretty dress and wipe the tears from her eyes. I know she’s a doll and I know it all sounds terribly maudlin, but I hate to see someone suffer like that.
she’s cute but the song is scary as hell, that probably freaked a lot of kids out.
So glad I found this, my dad used to call me "little miss no name" I know that sounds mean... but back story. He went to prison when I was only a few months old, and I was kinda the "black sheep" of my family for being *his* kid... when he got out (I was about 7) he'd sing this song to me but instead of the ending about taking her home he'd say "and that's ok cause I'm mr nobody too". I never knew this doll existed until I happened upon this weird creepy video made about this doll on facebook and decided to look it up.... my father was born in the early 50s so he would've been a kid/teenager when this came out. He passed away this jan 4th in my home. I had been taking care of him for the last 12 yrs. I'm glad I found this. Really shows he understood what I went through while he was gone and that he was trying to connect with me and validate that pain of being the "little miss no name" I was always led to believe I was just because he was my dad and he was a "bad man" (he wasnt)
What was…he in jail for? If you don’t mind me asking
I dont get why people think she is creepy. I feel strong empathy for her and i feel like i want to help her get better. I think that was the original reason hasbro made this doll, to make kids feel empathy and learn about caring for others.
That bitch is creepy. Wtf wants a homeless beggar doll?
@@SomeGuy-cw9rwyou dare call her that 😡 I want that doll because she's cool. I feel empathy for her because she is homeless and i want to help her. She isn't creepy, it's all about how you view things.
I think the doll is pretty too!@@gordonfreeman2634
The only thing I kind of object to is she always has a distraught look on her face. Know what would be great? If she had some mechanism in her they responded to body heat. So, then after she’s taken out of the box and held in a child’s arms for a while her frown fades into a smile.
@@gordonfreeman2634oh and her tear disappears.
i don't understand anyone saying she's creppy, she's so cute, i love her
I AGREE
I love how melancholy she looks but her concept is so dark 😭 a refugee child ?!?
Same, the only bad thing here is Hasbro trying to cash in on impoverished children
@@Angel-vb7bbThat teaches kids to love one regardless of the circumstance.
“She doesn’t have any shoes, she doesn’t even have a name, but she has cold dead eyes waiting for your love”😱
Chucky's looking for a girl he could manipulate. And here she is.
She’s waiting to steal your soul 😂
@@anneshields2010creepy thought huh I'm reporting you
My sister got her for Christmas and wasn't happy about it. I still remember looking at her and being glad I didn't get her. I'm surprised we had never seen her commercial, so we knew nothing about her. We were 8 and 10.
I collect dolls now and would love to have her. Lol.
Why were you glad you didn't get her.I believe she's creepy looking but what do I know,I remember my sister got her when I believe she was 6 and she threw her down and started balling for a long time very loud because she told our mom that it scared her, that's why I'm commenting on a doll commercial being a 59 year old man, lol.needles to say my mom took it back to Bradlees department store a few days later, lol.I still remember that Xmas morning from so long ago...I need to send this video to my sister Donna, hopefully she won't go crazy crying again, lol.
@@spiderreed350 Lol I'm not sure, I did think she was funny looking and probably wanted my baby doll which I am pretty sure I got.
I got her a few years back after I asked for her for Christmas multiple years in a row
And now she expensive!!! A big collectable
Give Little Miss No-Name all the love you want-she will always cry and never smile.
Lol true
Yep
@@anneshields2010Yes I like what’s the point of the toy
To be creepy and sad
@@alilowe6002I think the toys point was to cause empathy and for kids to learn about caring for others
Not sure what's creepier, the fact that everything about her screams horror movie villain or that Hasbro thought childhood poverty would be a fun concept for kid's games.
Like the scruff luv pets really isn't it? Kids like caring for things.
Didnt they create ouijas?
@@adianer6445 Well, Hasbro was the first one to sell ouija boards as board games, but the actual ouija board’s history goes back to after the Civil War.
@@rosiebaybie6245 yeah sorry i meant modern ouija. Not the actual santeria and brujeria type of oujia lol but wow i dint know ouija had been in the US since the civil war.
@@adianer6445 It’s true. It was an instant hit then because people were desperate to find a way to communicate with relatives who had died due to the war. I learned it from History Channel’s *Mystery at the Museum* (no connection to the film series *Night at the Museum*🤪).
A great toy commercial.LMNN is a fabulous doll who's deep down inside a true sweetheart of a Loveable little young lady girl. - Why a true friend like her in desperate need is a true cute child friend indeed.❤
BEST doll ever made by Hasbro. She is cool as hell. I have 2 myself.
She is so cute i have two also and love her .. that little face aw ...
I want one do badd! Hard to come by
@@GirGunter There are a few listed for around $100.
Love that she's basically homeless, but has fantastic hair. "I'm homeless, but still go to Drybar on the daily."
😂 I love this!
You can go to showers in some public places so it's possible
My grandma had this doll when she was younger and loved it unconditionally. However, she did lose the doll when she was moving and I could only imagine how sad she was. I remember years ago on Thanksgiving, she told me about the commercial and I decided to try and find it, only to be greeted with one creepy video using her and doll reviews. Glad to finally find this years later.
Parents edit their children's lives when they move. My mom lived in one house her whole childhood but raising her children we moved a half-dozen times. Every move stuff I really liked disappeared. Now I'm a freaking hoarder I find emotional attachments in everything.
2 years from now, Little Miss No-Name will return to your grandmother. She will be under her bed.
That's so sad,the song brought tears to my eyes. Poor thing
After 20 seconds I turned the lights back on and made sure all the doors were locked.
"She's a sad little nobody because there's nobody near" Talk about disempowering messaging.
Dear Lord, that thing is like a cross between the Black-Eyed Children and No Name from "Spirited Away".
Sorry, that was No Face from "Spirited Away".
As if the Holidays weren't depressing enough for some folks.....
I'll put this 'Little Miss No Name' doll right up on the shelf with my 'Talkie Tina' doll and wait for the fun to begin once the lights go out!
Lol

the most beautiful angel to ever exist. it’s my dream to have her and cherish her
You'll need a hefty bank account. She goes for $500+ on eBay.

@@angelicugly I guess it's worth it if you're into collecting vintage dolls. Good luck on finding one!
@@austinharvey7644 yeah i’m trying to save up bc she’s just the cutest thing ever
@@angelicugly Yeah, she definitely has a weird kind of appeal. Which was probably the original plan Hasbro had for her! It would be kinda interesting to see what would happened if they rebooted her.
I don’t know what everyone is talking about. This isn’t scary. This is just really sad.
I had never heard of this. I thought it was a spoofed vintage ad. Now I'm deep diving into the story behind this crazy doll 😆
I actually love this doll I think she is adorable and her design is unique
I don't know how she can be scary. All I feel when I look at her is sympathy, and I want to hug her, comfort her, feed her and clothe her.
Still have mine after all these years. She is one sad little doll.
Aw she's so cute !! I don't care much for vintage dolls but oh I can't but want her !!!
I always wanted this doll.
i..Im out of words. I knew about this doll for years and i thought it was some designer's design doll project or something. I had absolutely NO idea it was actually marketed to kids in the 60s... It really looks like one of those society commentary toy project or something...
I just found the perfect gift for the Christmas toy drive
I wish Hasbro make outfits for her
I bet they did along with matching shoes, thus making them more money. 💰
This is a very pleasant commercial to view on TV and RUclips with the little girl lovingly playing affectionately with her Little Miss No Name cute toy doll.An orphan little girl child from homelessness and poverty a doll that is in desperate need of love, family and friendship. A sweet child friend in need is a child of a true friend in loving compassionate mercy indeed.Sometimes we all no matter how mature ,wealthy, gifted and strong we our need a friendly helping hand no one is perfect.Being helpless, lonely, scared, poor and abandoned Little Miss No Name symbolizes exactly accurately on target to that important point truely. She immediately represents this idea concept to all even including a small child.Like this sweet girl dose lovingly playing with her in love friendship kindly. We fully grown Adult people, those of us who of course surely understand this and sometimes mistakenly forget even though we know most of the time understand this. This sweet doll although we adults have long since ceased and have stopped playing with our children's toys a very long time ago, But we must appreciate, value and respect toys such as Little Miss No name exstreamly strongly within this way a toy doll who since teaching all this as Kids and further more most importantly as to be certain to remember directly in our adult minds.Setting our sights viewing this cute toy doll and most importantly remembering when properly chosen and committed will and bring wonderful powerful true love for us. - From something so small and simple as little miss no name,a children's Toy can and does.
The concept is pretty cool. Hasbro should revive them 💖🌸
I think they would be huge sellers
Next year it's 60th anniversary so it would be the perfect time to re-release it. I actually sent a suggestion about this for Hasbro yesterday.
OMG I BEEN WAITING SO LONG TO SEE LITTLE MISS NO NAME'S COMMERCIAL UPLOADED TO RUclips, literally I love her and been watching videos of her since 2015! and I heard someone talking about a commercial about her in a comment section, finally in the new year of 2022 I get to see it!!!, my heart melted at this commercial and I wanted to cry hard cause I also been wanting her for so long since 2015 but never got her unfortunately but once I get my own apartment or house I'll GET HER, she is my most wanted vintage doll ever and tbh this commercial made me want her more!!!!!! Like seriously I LOVE HER!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
My advice is to always keep an eye out on shops like etsy since they sell quick when they show up at good prices! Mine showed up today and I adore her, I found her for $200 on etsy, original clothing and tear included which was lucky as hell. Ebay always prices them at mostly unaffordable prices so shops where you can find trustworthy small businesses are the way to go. Plus it's just good to financially support other toy collectors
Oh finally! I found someone who shares my enthusiasm for little Miss no name! I begged my father for her as a Christmas present in elementary school and since I only asked for her multiple years in a row, I currently have one of her on my shelf
It’s worth it, trust me! A bit doodled on by the last kid who handled her, but I love Her anyways
@@spleens4200 I’ve got one. My first one got mangled somewhere in my teen years by a friend who “updated” her clothes with blue jeans. And then her leg broke off at some point. Now I’ve got an original, mint condition, as a gift from my sister. I adore this doll--especially because she creeps out everyone who sees her in my living room, with her begging hand raised. LOL
@@hendo-dogs my brother says mine follows him with her eyes and it’s quite funny
I know what you're talking about, I cried watching this commercial , this doll was DECADES ahead of her time, i want one too, winter has finally arrived to us
Little Miss Nightmare Fuel
🤣🤣🤣
Some say what a dire creepy, sinister and eire toy doll! For of all people in the world a foul unpleasant item for after all - a child! In a way L.M.N.N. Is in some ways a very cute sweet doll for good kids with good intentions I know it was unsuccesful and a flop with an unwelcome and reception.I like and even LOVE some of the aspects contained in this Child Toy Doll.On The other hand To just about everyone is exotic,Really FAR-OUT,EXOTIC fascinating and inthralling. We need with such a strong heart pass this on to our Kids.We must do this very strongly.
She is my dream doll because i think she just looks so cute and sad
The announcer sounds like he is doing a budweiser commercial
Maybe he pounded down a six pack of that toilet water before.
She's so cute :( I wish I could have her
These ads are so great! I used to collect dolls. Bought one of these at a doll show years ago, she's in much worse shape than the ones in the ads.
I dated her sister.
I love her. I am making my own Little Miss No Name
I just purchased two of them on eBay and I redid them. They are so stinking cute ❤️❤️🥰🥰😍😍
They have this doll for sale on ebay.
That’s amazing.
I mostly collect other dolls, but damn I would love to have her. Her and that dollhouse with the fallout shelter. ...I'm a bit morbid...
doll house with fall out shelter tell me about that who made it ... plez
I'm not going to lie, that the type of toy that I would buy can be a bit bizarre but the truth is that the little girl looks cute
I would give (quite) allot to time travel to the pitch meeting ,for this horror show.
I have a feeling one of people pitching was an Addams Family fanatic
Awww Little Miss No Name Doll Is So Cute
The girl in the commercial is like "not only do I need to act like this is something I'd ACTUALLY play with, but I need to pretend her demon eyes aren't staring into my soul!"
This doll may be a bit weird, uncheerful and somewhat unhappy,But she is interesting and very likeable and cute and sweet - As well as a toy that is very special;A Child's toy does not necessarily have to be entirely very greatful and joyous to be celebrated and beloved to be very much great and valued by a child.I am a man and a grown adult person,And l think many of we adult people, although not of course all, fully mature people do appreciate this doll better than Kids do,And truely their are some kids, although small, even do.I love Little Miss No Name - She is a little young lady of a girl who is very unique and special to me,and I love this very cute sweet 1960s L.M.N.N.heartwarming commercial.
Tim Burton would be proud
That is the most scariest doll I’ve ever seen! 😱 what is she the bride of Chucky? OMG what was Hasbro thinking! 🥶😱
The Hasbro Hobo, coming to a store near you
a doll for any occasion, Fancy Dress, Baby Doll, Fashion Doll, homeless doll, ...
When a Toy Company intentionally creates a haunted doll
...she just sits and stares....Little Miss No Name is waiting for you.....
i love her sm
I’m a hasbro collector and I have 2 little miss no name dolls.
Personally, I like this doll. Mainly cause I'm into creepy stuff.
Damn! The vibe of these commercials is everything to me
Also damn this doll is so mecore
I love this doll
Probably to most LMNN is creepy, eeire and even a bit sinister, but to still a very significant amount of some of us,both these cute commercials show her for, what she is,and more importantly who.The Ads shed some effective light on what she is as a toy marketed for girl's.and is sweet and loving. She is shown by the Ads honestly as what she supposed to be all about for children.❤
I saw that doll at a swat meet
That por little sad Doll I feel so bad for her and all she wants is a friend 😢😭
this is eerily sad...
Nothing screams “fun” like a homeless child. Ah poverty. What a cool game 👀
It was made to teach people about emphaty and caring for others.
I'm 71 and still love that doll...it's a doll all you weirdos 😅
Ya gotta love the "snowstorm box" she's trapped in! just to make her life more miserable! She's actually the dying little match girl, with her hand out as invisioned by creepy big eyes artist MARGARET KEANE. All the hair brushing in the world wasn't going to improve her appearance, and unterrified girls figured it out! Some brave boys too! She's a nice addition to the Museum of Failures! A sad little nobody!
When I saw a video about her, the first thing I thought about was the little match girl and the second was Margaret Keane. Seems we think alike :)
I had that doll!
Positive memories? I remember the big eyed sad face cartoon characters from the 60’s my older girl cousins loved. This doll is reminiscent of those images.
@@ElmoUnk1953 yes, positive memories. Loved that doll!
She’s actually really adorable
Love Little Miss No Name
I like this doll
Geez what a depressive toy. I almost feel guilted into buying it. Maybe that was the point. 😖
I think it was meant to teach little girls empathy, but it had the opposite affect because a lot of kids were terrified of her lol
Awesome
Who’s singing the song? She has a pretty voice. I think Little Miss No Name is adorable ❤❤
This would be right at home at hot topic
I am goth and i like her alot 😂
Those dark brown eyes actually give her a scary, creepy look..
Like the creepy parents in the animated movie “Coraline”
"I WILL NEVER SLEEP AGAIN!!, THOSE EYES, those eyes....
I have one. I love her so much ❤
Run!!!! Run like hell!!!!
Her and Brahms can be buddies!
Brahms is only creepy because of the movie though, and Little Miss No Name has sadness mixed with spookiness.
Those eyes......sweet lord.... those eyes
You will find her standing in a snowstorm box....that's beyond hilarious
More like: "You'll find her standing over you with a knife in her hand when you wake up."
1:07 WTF - she's just standing in the garden waiting for the girl to wake up? How did she get out there and what is she doing? This doll would be set on fire three times, crushed in a car baler and then set on fire one last time.
Then you'd be reported to the spct (society of prevention of cruelty to toys)
They should have offered accessories (sold separately). And do something about those eyes. Swing and a miss but on some level it kind of makes sense.
This is exactly what I was thinking!! You guilt little kids into wanting a little sad, sack-dressed dolls. They tell you to show her love and make her tears go away. So why not allow kids to later buy accessories and gifts for the doll to make her happy. How happy is this doll suppose to be if she's always going to be walking around in a burlap sack as if she's unloved. Such a strange half baked concept.
Little Miss No Name was a prophecy which is now coming true. So sad!
The fact that my grandma had this
So goth.....I love it
I am goth and I like this doll alot 😂
A cold and cruel world even then.
i want one !!!
Those Big Eyeballs looking scary.😨
Now That's A Scary DOLL they should make a movie about ! I'm glad I hadn't met Little Miss No Name as a child I would have been more scared than I am right now after all those Twilight Zone Episodes with dolls to come to this now. 😐
You sound like my brother! Except he’d add that her eyes just follow you around the room
She doesn't look scary. She looks cute
@@jenniferwills9752 I’ve never met anyone else who thinks she’s cute, but I’m glad to know that I’m not alone!
Ich brauche jetzt die Puppe für meine Sammlung 😮
I have this doll I got her as a kid from an aunt dunno where she got it but it was not in the brown dress but a Red burlap dress and her hair was tugggy and bangs cut in but she has her tear as I was given her near Christmas I called her Holly and a few years ago I have a friend that owns a small store and she used Holly in a Christmas window display we have her a bag full of matches and made her into the little match girl but I love little miss no name she’s cute
Am I the only one who is not scared of the doll and want to have one even as a little kid?
I want them to redo this as a Little Miss Wednesday Adams.
WELL THAT WAS DEMONIC
I would do anything to have this doll with its original box.... Hopefully someday I'll come across one. They are worth a lot of money and almost impossible to find with original box... Or one with original clothes and tear....
I'd be curious what the backstory on the little girl would have been.
Since the doll appears to depict a homeless child about six years old, also standing barefoot in the snow, how did the child get there, and also not have a name (or more accurately, not know her name, or not remember it)? Furthermore, how long would the child have been homeless and abandoned, and still able to survive in a winter climate, so destitute as to have to wear burlap for clothing?
Maybe I am overanalyzing, but wouldn't the child have been picked up by the police soon after being either abandoned, suddenly orphaned, or having run away from home? Maybe that's why the child is there...being now put up for adoption to another child who will have her.
Brasil
2:04 She is waiting for you!!
😬
Put these in a Toy Story.
I haven’t seen a doll like that in years because I then born in 1973, because this is during the time when they stop making that doll, because as the years marched on, that doll head long ago, disappeared, but it could still be seen in the hands of doll collectors, who would later do alterations to the doll and give it better clothing because that little miss no name doll is such a sad doll and I know it’s so heartbreaking to see that type of dog in the world during the 60s and this dolls made to look like a World War II refugee just standing out there alone with no one to take care of her.
I love little miss no name, but imagine if she glowed in the dark!
