People dreamed about working on halo or the next battlefield, not realizing that people had to program the grass, the dust particles, the things that people don’t think about like wind. Don’t expect to be working on the exciting stuff.
Knight is actually my fav in the series. Others might have better stories / pacing, but I just can’t get over how good it feels to play. It’s just so fluid, the animations are sick, everything is just smooth af. I have a hard time going back to city / asylum cuz you can really tell how much they stepped it up for knight
City for me is still the best overall story and gameplay experience, but I love Knight and never understood the hate it got. I'm glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves.
this is the game i come back after watching "the batman". Everything is with such a great timing, aesthetics and gameplay feedback that it feels like a movie. And getting in the batmobile never gets old
I think a lot of people, including myself with disagree with you there. I wouldn't have minded a few forced Batmobile sections, but it was so overdone it felt like a tank simulator game, and for a lot of us it did get old, fast, that's just not what we wanted from a Batman game. It's an impressive and well-made game, but I'd rather play either of the first two games, or Origins.

When you aren't in combat, in a cutscene or a dialogue sequence, the game is very quiet like when you're just traversing a buildings interior. Joker makes it way better.
Because at release the game was broken AF. Barely 15fps on some top-end GPUs, and lots of crashing, stuttering, and then Nvidia was doing some ridiculous stuff that hampered performance on AMD cards. It was a mess... an outright mess. However, in time, much like AC: Unity, once things got patched up and fixed, it has become as respected as it deserves to be.

A cool small detail is when Batman is crouched then jumps to glide away his cape flicks the water off of it from the rain. That is crazy attention to detail.

not true, they could’ve definitely made a better send off to the arkham series, this game plays so good but the story was mid at best and the batmobile had too big of a role on the overall game. best part of the story was joker and batman’s dynamic.

I disagree. The Jason twist was unnecessary and obvious. They were trying to shoehorn him into the overarching plot. Would have been better if Hush replaced the knight given that his side story made no sense. In City you're chasing someone who steals faces and then all of a sudden in knight there's this emotional backlog moment where it turns out he's Bruce's childhood friend. Like huh? The Batmobile was horribly implemented. People wanted it as a cool traversal option. But in Arkham Knight it wasn't an option. You HAD to use it - in missions, riddler challenges, taking people back to the gcpd. It was everywhere. For controls, changing equipment was immersion breaking. In the previous games you could do it on the fly. But in Knight, you opened up a menu to change equipment. And lastly, the thing that matters the most... Boss battles. Or lack of. like come on!! Origins released just before and it had incredible boss battles. And then you've got with with Deathstroke fighting you in a car...

@@BrijrajRavalji i didn't know that. I thought it was in UE4. Rocksteady was probably maxing out the capabilities of the engine. But bioshock 1 & 2 we're using Unreal engine 2.5. I love Unreal engine.

I don't think just having the batmobile was what people had a problem with, it was the sections were you're forced to use it that become tiresome after a while
That and couple of lies during the promotion like "yes, Joker is not in this game.. We swear it" and "Arkham Knight is completely new character and is someone we Batman fans have never met".. And very few bunch were disappointed with the missed opportunity of the co-op mode with other characters like Nightwing and Catwoman, when it was just there the whole time! The game was and is bad for what Arkham games are.. However, in retrospective there are worse games out there to call this game bad..
Nigma really was like "okay, so last time i made a maze track with people with bomb collars, what should i do this time? I know! Race tracks for his clearly custom R&D military vehicle! What could possibly go wrong? Lemme just get this grease monkey look right before i do it!"
I really love that. That's why I used to watch BaronVonGames but nowadays he just makes videos for his core audience that only watches like three games in particular.
Some games on last gen honestly look like they could have been made on current gen and this is one of them. It's absolutely gorgeous. I just fired up AC Unity the other day and running it at a higher frame rate is just a game changer. That game looked stunning and looks like it would be something that came out on newer consoles.

I actually feel that the style of gameplay favors spider-man because of how acrobatic he is, given that he has powers. This is the Epitome of a Superhero Game Till Date. The combat, The Mechanics, The Storyline, Voice Acting, Story I can go on and on. The only repetitive part is batmobile missions, I have heard people ranting about it. But I am not complaining I loved the Riddler driving challenges. If you haven't played this yet you should definitely give it a Go. For me This Things Tops The Arkham series, I don't think we will ever get a title like this again.
I absolutely loved this game when it was released. I didn’t care about bad press reviews or anything like that, I played this game because I wanted to be Batman, and this game did not disappoint on that delivery. I am also of the unpopular opinion that I absolutely love the Batmobile, you are the King of the Road in that thing, plus it’s every kid’s dream to drive the Batmobile, how was I not going to enjoy it?!
I was fine with driving the batmobile, was very cathartic to smash through walls thanks to the fantastic sound design. The cobra tanks were a cool setpiece, but the general tank combat fell pretty flat for me.
Also an issue with the tank combat is that you couldn't use some of the great skins in the main game since animating each individual batmobile would have taken far too long. I would rather they remove the tank stuff entirely and let me drive around in the 1989 batmobile.
Easily one of the best game series ever. They were so ambitious with every entry and did something amazing every time. Continued to build from game to game. When you thought Arkham city couldn’t get better, BOOM here’s graphics ahead of their time, improved combat and gadgets, a city 4x the size with a dare I say realistic Batmobile traveling experience. And compared to the quality of other superhero games, it’s simply the best. The overarching story from asylum to knight is phenomenal. It couldn’t have been done with any other hero and villain than the stoic, constant Batman and maniacal, relentless joker. Thanks to Kevin Conroy and rocksteady I was always able to feel like Batman and I will always enjoy these games
This game is so well executed, on par with the witcher and other AAA masterpieces, plays insanely well in 2022. I know it had technical issues when it was released, but I hope it sold well and didn't flop, because it's so good now.
iirc it didn't sell as well as City but it did better than almost any other game the year it was released. The PC port was just bad and that gave the game a lot of bad press
@@atpr3241 Yes it was really buggy on pc. Angry Joe did a good review on it at the time. It was a mess, and I’m not sure if they ever fixed it, if they did, it took way too long.
It didn't fail, the game has good sales (on par with Arkham City). Even a problematic start (only on PC, everything was fine on consoles) did not prevent the game from selling very well.
It’s awesome to see someone experiencing the game for the first time, I wish I could go back and play it again. Awesome gameplay man. I loved watching this.

I remember getting so hyped after the trailers and running to a game store with my friend after class to buy the game and go home, have a sleepover and play all night. Miss those times
i really wanna go back and replay the arkham trilogy after playing gotham knights to experience gotham as i loved it but i know that they will be about 30 hours of playtime between them and idk if i can commit that right now 😂
Even though Gotham Knights didn't turn out the way i wanted, i still defend WB Montreal and what they did with Arkham Origins, which is still a very good game. If you haven't played Origins yet, i recommend that you try it out!🦇

@@knaussenheimer different people worked on those games even though the company name is the same. The team from 2013 is completely different from the 2022 team. Origins is still part of the Arkham story and therefore is just as important as the other games

The man bat jumpscare gets me everytime I replay the game. Another good one is when you're Commissioner Gordon in Panessa Studios and after looking at the infected people, you turn to see Batman pop up in front of you. What a great way to experience what Gordon probably feels between Batman shows up in your face out of nowhere lol

I can't wait for whatever Rocksteady puts out next. I don't care what kind of game it's going to be either. With track record like this, and the incredible trajectory of this trilogy, it'll surely be an incredible game
I know what I'm expecting if Arkham Knight is any indicator. An average or above average story. Boss battles that will be terrible, maybe one or two good ones. 10/10 gameplay. Overall, a 7 or an 8.

theres actually dialogue that the criminals say during the game, they say that batman has non-lethal rounds that he fires from the bat-mobile, they also say that it feels like the punch of an angry gorilla.
I love this game, and speaking of attention to detail, you might enjoy keeping a good eye at the signs and posters in the streets while you're playing it.
So happy to see that Arkham Knight is finally getting the love it deserves I get it had performance issues at release but let's be honest setting aside the technical problems it really is an amazing game from visuals to story to soundtrack perspective
The jump scares in this game are amazing. I know your probably got to it, but there's one notable one that made me literally scream in the middle of the night while playing. Loved it.
The Arkham games are one of the best game trilogies we've ever gotten in the past couple decades, and it's a shame that Kevin Conroy can never reprise the Batman role ever again. If they're to ever reboot the Arkham series, it will never be the same without him. RIP Kevin Conroy. RIP the Batman.
Fun fact: Whether you kill the people in the diner or not will actually affect the police officer you control in the intro. Also, the lady and the guy that you talked to earlier can be found dead in the morgue.
I love that the Arkham Knight is getting the love it deserves. We didnt realise how good we had it with this game, even with the excessive combat sections with the Batmobile. It needs to be said though, bombing through the city in the Batmobile never gets boring, its only the combat sections that wear out their welcome. But now that we have Gotham Knights to compare it to its obvious just how special this game was. Its insane that 7 years later that we still dont have a follow up to this game, especially with the way this game ends.
I just discovered this game in 2022 as well and I've now played the campaign three times. It's so affirming to hear you react to the coolest parts of the opening in the exact same way I did (with lots of "wee!!" and "yes!!" and "look at that, that's so cool!!"). The bad press over the Batmobile really bugged me because I loved it, and what's Batman without his Batmobile?! People just love jumping on hate bandwagons
One thing I love about this game is how the militia gets more and terrified of Batman throughout the game At first they mention how absurd it is that they are an entire army to kill one normal guy At the end they think it’s absurd Scarecrow only brought one army to take him down
Arkham Knight was a great game with some flaws. For me those were performance and the actual ending hidden behind riddler trophies. All three Arkham games are epic

I started playing Arkham Knight the other day and I genuinely haven't stopped. Still haven't completed it aswell. Haven't even started the dlcs. Absolutely loving it
I've never understood why Arkham Knight is criminally underrated and shat on. I don't even understand the complaints behind the batmobile being "Overused" Because I thought it was woven into the gameplay an adequate amount and a brilliant expansion on Batman's already ridiculously huge arsenal of gameplay mechanics. I can see how they're comparing it to Arkham City, where the puzzle-solving was exceptional and obviously there was no batmobile in that game and people probably wanted more of that in their next big Arkham game. But we did still get 'Batman only' puzzle-solving areas in bulk which gets overlooked, and a lot of it was blended WITH the batmobile, which I just saw as an evolution and expansion of those puzzle-solving areas. The ebb and flow between batman/mobile were done very brilliantly, and I genuinely do not understand the complaints. Plus story-wise and visually, it is one of the best depictions of this fictional universe I think we've ever received. I mean, when they first revealed Scarecrow at the end of that gameplay trailer I got chills and thought "Damn... Scarecrow is actually fucking terrifying for once, not just some idiot with a potato sack on his head" I think Arkham Knight will probably age like fine wine and people will appreciate it more as time goes on because the truth is it's actually a far greater love letter to Batman than soooo many other attempts. I may just go and play through the game again now... For probably the 10th time! Because it's incredible! EDIT: Also, Rest in peace, Kevin Conroy. Things won't be the same without you, but you'll forever be etched in history as arguably the most definitive Batman and the version most people's minds instantly go to when they think of Batman. Thanks for making a fictional character real to us all

I absolutely love this game. I also really enjoyed the Batmobile. Only used it as needed. The only downside was the boss battles with the Batmobile. Could of done without and made it more creative
its just breathtaking and the Batmobile can be much but the game as a “whole”… it makes you feel like the Batman. I feel sorry for those who never gave it a try

The joker cameos where he would appear in random areas was so cool and integrated, it actually felt like the joker was in Batman's head.

Not only did the Joker randomly appear. Some gargoylers and billboards change imagery to that of Joker or both Batman and him referencing his death.

Yep, people had no problem driving and using the tank but when 60% of the game requires the batmobile its ridiculous

The game was and is bad for what Arkham games are.. However, in retrospective there are worse games out there to call this game bad..

Honestly people's problems weren't the batmobile, it was the battank, where you need to tank to fight against tanks and fighting against bigger tanks.
Also The Riddler puzzles with Batmobile.
Nigma really was like "okay, so last time i made a maze track with people with bomb collars, what should i do this time? I know! Race tracks for his clearly custom R&D military vehicle! What could possibly go wrong? Lemme just get this grease monkey look right before i do it!"
Also, tank battle with Deathstroke

Some games on last gen honestly look like they could have been made on current gen and this is one of them. It's absolutely gorgeous. I just fired up AC Unity the other day and running it at a higher frame rate is just a game changer. That game looked stunning and looks like it would be something that came out on newer consoles.

I never listened to the Press when this game launched. I judged the game for myself and this game was a 10/10 in my Book!
This is the Epitome of a Superhero Game Till Date. The combat, The Mechanics, The Storyline, Voice Acting, Story I can go on and on. The only repetitive part is batmobile missions, I have heard people ranting about it. But I am not complaining I loved the Riddler driving challenges. If you haven't played this yet you should definitely give it a Go. For me This Things Tops The Arkham series, I don't think we will ever get a title like this again.

I absolutely loved this game when it was released. I didn’t care about bad press reviews or anything like that, I played this game because I wanted to be Batman, and this game did not disappoint on that delivery. I am also of the unpopular opinion that I absolutely love the Batmobile, you are the King of the Road in that thing, plus it’s every kid’s dream to drive the Batmobile, how was I not going to enjoy it?!
That's how we are right now with us supporting gotham knights and how good it is on pc but there is alot of haters especially on console tho lol
I actually liked a lot of the races with Batmobile, specilly with the original one from the 60's!
I was fine with driving the batmobile, was very cathartic to smash through walls thanks to the fantastic sound design. The cobra tanks were a cool setpiece, but the general tank combat fell pretty flat for me.
Also an issue with the tank combat is that you couldn't use some of the great skins in the main game since animating each individual batmobile would have taken far too long. I would rather they remove the tank stuff entirely and let me drive around in the 1989 batmobile.
Easily one of the best game series ever. They were so ambitious with every entry and did something amazing every time. Continued to build from game to game. When you thought Arkham city couldn’t get better, BOOM here’s graphics ahead of their time, improved combat and gadgets, a city 4x the size with a dare I say realistic Batmobile traveling experience. And compared to the quality of other superhero games, it’s simply the best. The overarching story from asylum to knight is phenomenal. It couldn’t have been done with any other hero and villain than the stoic, constant Batman and maniacal, relentless joker. Thanks to Kevin Conroy and rocksteady I was always able to feel like Batman and I will always enjoy these games

This game is so well executed, on par with the witcher and other AAA masterpieces, plays insanely well in 2022. I know it had technical issues when it was released, but I hope it sold well and didn't flop, because it's so good now.
It definitely didn't flop, but those technical issues really did hamper its initial release.
iirc it didn't sell as well as City but it did better than almost any other game the year it was released. The PC port was just bad and that gave the game a lot of bad press
@@atpr3241 Yes it was really buggy on pc. Angry Joe did a good review on it at the time. It was a mess, and I’m not sure if they ever fixed it, if they did, it took way too long.
It's sooo good on Series X.
It didn't fail, the game has good sales (on par with Arkham City). Even a problematic start (only on PC, everything was fine on consoles) did not prevent the game from selling very well.
It’s awesome to see someone experiencing the game for the first time, I wish I could go back and play it again. Awesome gameplay man. I loved watching this.

i really wanna go back and replay the arkham trilogy after playing gotham knights to experience gotham as i loved it but i know that they will be about 30 hours of playtime between them and idk if i can commit that right now 😂

Even though Gotham Knights didn't turn out the way i wanted, i still defend WB Montreal and what they did with Arkham Origins, which is still a very good game. If you haven't played Origins yet, i recommend that you try it out!🦇

@@knaussenheimer different people worked on those games even though the company name is the same. The team from 2013 is completely different from the 2022 team. Origins is still part of the Arkham story and therefore is just as important as the other games

The man bat jumpscare gets me everytime I replay the game. Another good one is when you're Commissioner Gordon in Panessa Studios and after looking at the infected people, you turn to see Batman pop up in front of you. What a great way to experience what Gordon probably feels between Batman shows up in your face out of nowhere lol

After watching Gotham's knight gameplay, it makes me appreciate Arkham knight even more.
The fact this came out 7 years ago is wild
theres actually dialogue that the criminals say during the game, they say that batman has non-lethal rounds that he fires from the bat-mobile, they also say that it feels like the punch of an angry gorilla.
I love this game, and speaking of attention to detail, you might enjoy keeping a good eye at the signs and posters in the streets while you're playing it.

The jump scares in this game are amazing. I know your probably got to it, but there's one notable one that made me literally scream in the middle of the night while playing. Loved it.

After playing Gotham knights I realised how smooth and amazing Arkham knights is
I remember the first time the scene with the batmobile began. I fucking screamed of excitment 😭 ”Evening the odds ” gives me so mutch goosebumps
Fun fact: Whether you kill the people in the diner or not will actually affect the police officer you control in the intro. Also, the lady and the guy that you talked to earlier can be found dead in the morgue.

We didnt realise how good we had it with this game, even with the excessive combat sections with the Batmobile. It needs to be said though, bombing through the city in the Batmobile never gets boring, its only the combat sections that wear out their welcome.
But now that we have Gotham Knights to compare it to its obvious just how special this game was. Its insane that 7 years later that we still dont have a follow up to this game, especially with the way this game ends.
I finished playing Gotham Knights today and going back to this game just goes to show how well rocksteady did this game.

I just discovered this game in 2022 as well and I've now played the campaign three times. It's so affirming to hear you react to the coolest parts of the opening in the exact same way I did (with lots of "wee!!" and "yes!!" and "look at that, that's so cool!!"). One thing I love about this game is how the militia gets more and terrified of Batman throughout the game
At first they mention how absurd it is that they are an entire army to kill one normal guy
At the end they think it’s absurd Scarecrow only brought one army to take him down

I started playing Arkham Knight the other day and I genuinely haven't stopped. Still haven't completed it aswell. Haven't even started the dlcs. Absolutely loving it
I urge you to keep on playing this great game. At some point you'll even find some great singing which will literally make you die from laughter.
I've never understood why Arkham Knight is criminally underrated and shat on.
I don't even understand the complaints behind the batmobile being "Overused" Because I thought it was woven into the gameplay an adequate amount and a brilliant expansion on Batman's already ridiculously huge arsenal of gameplay mechanics. I can see how they're comparing it to Arkham City, where the puzzle-solving was exceptional and obviously there was no batmobile in that game and people probably wanted more of that in their next big Arkham game. But we did still get 'Batman only' puzzle-solving areas in bulk which gets overlooked, and a lot of it was blended WITH the batmobile, which I just saw as an evolution and expansion of those puzzle-solving areas. The ebb and flow between batman/mobile were done very brilliantly, and I genuinely do not understand the complaints. Plus story-wise and visually, it is one of the best depictions of this fictional universe I think we've ever received. I mean, when they first revealed Scarecrow at the end of that gameplay trailer I got chills and thought "Damn... Scarecrow is actually fucking terrifying for once, not just some idiot with a potato sack on his head"
I think Arkham Knight will probably age like fine wine and people will appreciate it more as time goes on because the truth is it's actually a far greater love letter to Batman than soooo many other attempts.
I may just go and play through the game again now... For probably the 10th time! Because it's incredible!
EDIT: Also, Rest in peace, Kevin Conroy. Things won't be the same without you, but you'll forever be etched in history as arguably the most definitive Batman and the version most people's minds instantly go to when they think of Batman. Thanks for making a fictional character real to us all

I absolutely love this game. I also really enjoyed the Batmobile. Only used it as needed. The only downside was the boss battles with the Batmobile. Could of done without and made it more creative

4:24 I absolutely loved the batmobile not sure what problem other people had with it I loved the fact that it had so many features and uses throughout the story other than just getting you from point A to point B because obviously the batmobile is not just a regular car

This is still the most complete game one of the best combat systems ever the stealth is actually fun great story that’s long enough but doesn’t drag great traversal mechanics amazing vehicle with its own combat incredible graphics and physics and it is the most accurate depiction of batman ever imo he’s a detective a creature of the knight a crazy good fighter incredible stealth and when you fight the street crooks you really feel the fear they have of batman this game is just god tier honestly should’ve never been a Gotham knights just a reboot or a prequel to these games no one wants a batman game without batman

Oracle being in this game means the Killing Joke happened already, meaning Batman and Batwoman had some steamy one on one fun

Gotham Knights graphics may be technically better but the art style and execution is totally soulless. Looks so bland and awful compared to AK.
