- For general photography and as a walk around lens the standard 50mm (ish) lens is still king of all lens for versatility and creativity , used as a tool it can put ordinary shoots onto a different level.

I really enjoyed your production. Acros is a glorious film stock, my old stock is going fast. You're an excellent photographer. The tonality results are exceptional from both developers but the 510 are crisp and clean, like a fine art pencil drawing. I will be procuring some in the near future.

Both developers are good, but I have to say, I liked the 510 a little better. It seemed to have a more ancient look instead of modern, in my opinion. Nice photos and video !
Yes I think I agree with you, 510 pyro is a great developer that I am slowly getting to like the more I get used to it and suit my developing style

When I got my first SLR, it came with just a prime 50mm lens, so for several years, that was all I had. It never hindered my picture taking.

Great thought out and informative video as always. I had the same problem with a atlftermarket adapter ring. A few minutes with a belt sander gave me infinity focus but the Aperture scale was not straight up where they needed to be.

Those adapters are great. I even have one to mount Mamiya RB67 lens on my Olympus m43 camera. What a beast of a looking camera. Just another option for a fun day out with the camera. Thanks for all your effort on these much appreciated video.
Great video as always and you got some great shots. I do notice the rendering of the biotar being somewhat “swirly” and I love that in your photos, makes me want to pick one up. As far as the developers go I usually watch videos on my phone so any differences in sharpness,grain, and contrast don’t really stand out to me. I’m sure looking at them on the computer pre edit makes the differences really stand out.

I agree with you about the look you get when using the older lenses, especially at the wider apertures. I still have a Pentax Spotmatic II that I use with these lenses (no adapter needed).
It's rare to see a comparison between Pyrocat HD and 510 Pyro as most people fall into either camp! So great to see a good neutral comparison.
Some fantastic images you made there Martin, the Pyrocat ones that really stood out for me were at 14:58 and 15:14
The 510 Pyro ones were just phenomenal (or maybe I'm just bias!!! 😉)
Lovely shots that show off the characteristics of the lens perfectly. I recently started developing my own B&W films and your opinions on the two developers were interesting as I haven't used either yet.
Thank you Martin, wonderful video. I agree, I came of age when 50mm was the default and it is "the way I see." I love my Takumar M42 50s, not only for the field of view, but for their close focusing. 510Pyro is very interesting! Thank you. See you next time.

I always think of 50mm as my home base, 75% of my photos. I venture away from it now and then, but always come back.
One trick to make a 50 seem wider like a 35, is to put two subjects at opposite ends of the frame. Try it!
Very nice photographs. Excellent tonality and separation of tonal values, no doubt helped by the use a Pyro developer. Hope you have recovered well from the effects of the evil Covid. I am still having problems with breathing when exhausted. Keep well Martin.

Hello Martin!! Such a nice surprise to see that you had made a video. Are you fully recovered? A great variety of images. Some unusual and interesting pictures. Difficult to see online which developer I prefer, but perhaps the pyro produces a little more contrast?
Had a bag with lenses and accessories 85% of my photos were taken with a standard lens.
I find the pictures with the 58 sharper

What lenses do you recommend
The kit lens 18-55 and 50-200 are they useful in real world scenarios

Welcome back Martin, great advice again. Can you show the 510 in use? I have some and am not to sure what to do using it to develop.
For all films below 400iso, mix is 1 to 100, pour developer in at 20c, continuous agitation for first min then leave to stand, do just one inversion at 10 min then leave till end time. The dev time depends on the film your using, Fuji Acros in this vid was 15 mins total time
