John i worked on those trucks for the army in Perth. Check the valve on the air start tank. There is a piston ,spring and o ring in it and gets fouled with crap and don't seal right. Hope this helps
John you don't need to take the rim off, just need to break the back bead of the tyre from the rim. Front bead should be easy to break, take out the locking ring and you take the tyre off leaving the rim on. Ex heavy duty tyre fitter :-)

Also had a couple of tricks where I could change big front end loader tyres on my own and that was without additional machines like tyre handlers. Cat 992 front end loader (note Huge) was a favourite, 1 hour to change the tyre then sit back for 3 hours to pump them up to get 80psi pressure in them
Yep, that was painfull to watch. I have had to use chordite once to seperate the outer bead from the ring on an old 988 in a quari but that was rare although not for the quari. They will also need a big tension wrench to retighten the wheel nuts to the correct spec.
A tourqe multiplier wrench is a great investment for opening lug nuts it saves a lot of skin loss as for the rim it's not a easy job without heat but a great deal of soaking with wd 40 or some thing of that kind and was a great explanation of why not to use to pump on mack sounds like a few of your viewers have a lot of good experience with the mack and all the tricks that go with it
Just throw three or four nuts on the rim tighten on rim the loosen three or four turn then move loader back and forth and wiggle with articulation.the tyres rooted so you wont hurt that
I think that part you put on is a muffler for the air exiting the system after the motor, if air is leaking through it I would look up stream in the system for air bypassing some seals.
The starter motor is just dry ,remove the big hose off the starter and tip a bear bottle of diesel in it and start a few times . There is a starter lubricator on the starter motor that runs on the return fuel that needs to be repaired it oils the starter with diesel every time it starts with a small amount of diesel
G'day JH with the air start on the Mack it is better to have it then a normal starter motor if you have time give Steve Graham a call and ask him why he has air start on his Kenworth for where he goes on out back truckers if a normal starter suffs up no one around to fix it he can get air from his tyres or are tanks in his trailers anyway heads up
Sounds to me like starter might be some what dry. Try taking the inlet hose of it and putting a bit of compressor oil in it and give it a few more goes.
what about the engine power take-off, but it may not be possible to install, I know it depends on the engine if it is possible. I have worked with volvo trucks for many years but have not worked with American engines,
WD-40 while being a famous and world known lubricant is not a solution to break a rust bond on metal. "I" feel a better product is the fabulous blaster. Its what I use and I use WD-40 but just for what its purpose is.

You get air start and tank sorted out , there good tap on tank so start tank stays full good idear

if you can get it, use N-serve for NH3 to eat the rust out. works better than any penetrating oil

A couple of luigong rims are cheap now but I wouldn't trust it ✌️👍👏

The extra weight on the bar definitely helped getting those nuts loose😂
There’s a big valve on the bottom of the air start tank Overhaul that and your issue will disappear
