I've also had suggestion to use Yellow Ochre from someone, which I imagine would look quite bright - maybe good as a faded variation on a theme. But yeah, 'uniform' isn't! Good mindset to have. :D
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio That’s an excellent point. I think I might try to spice it up with the browns. Different wood on the rifles and different leather details.
This is a superb tutorial with fantastic results. I'm building a diorama of the battle of Guadalcanal at the moment and trying to get the perfect scheme for a densely packed Banzai charge, this video has given me some great tips, great work my friend - subscribed.
I would use Japanese uniform color for officers and soft caps...also for the puttees, English uniform is pretty good color wise, and gives a bit of variation to the overall uniform look.
Perfect! I just got some of these guys and finally saw this! I'm building as I watch and can't wait to try out your method here. Really like how they look more gritty and less cartoonish with your methods.
When it comes to the Pacific theater, I think things look better if they're a bit grimy and rough - suits the period and makes things feel a little more lived-in!
Would you dry brush helmet netting with a lighter mix of the brown violet or use a different colour? @@SonicSledgehammerStudio Sorry just seen your later comment recommending Khaki or German Camo Beige!
Great paint job! got a box of the Special Naval Landing force which I've been struggling to find a good paint scheme for, maybe try them out as they are the same sprue.
Your guide is awesome! I purchased a paint guide from Warlords itself, and tried to come up with some colors that the store I went to didn't have, and was disappointed at my results. Your attention to detail, and overall presentation of how to paint these helps me understand and have more confidence moving forward. Do you have a recommendation on the colors for Special Naval Landing Force (SNLF)? Also, what brushes were you using (not the makeup brush lol)? They look like they apply the paint smoothly.
Hello Sonic i love your video's, they are very aprocable for the hobby. I would love to see your collection of miniatures. You seem to have a great variety.
I have just watched this older tutorial. Super easy paint scheme! I love the German Camo beige for Canvas! It is a great point on the Japanese skin tone. But what paint would you use for yellow skin tone such as Mandarine Chinese soldiers, please?
Sir Sonic! This video inspired me to get some Japanese troops (using your affiliate link)!!! You are a bad influence :P But I will for sure be using this tutorial when they arrive.
@Sonic Sledgehammer Studio Would really love to know where you got the info of the Japanese taking their collar patches off while on campaign. I have a lot of infantry so I might skip that except for the officers. BTW recently found your channel and I love it your guides are very helpful and informative.
enjoying this guide, was wondering what you would recommend for the helmets that have the webbing on them?, maybe a drybrush of something before or after the wash?
I don't, more often than not. If I'm looking to make a leader stand out at the head of an army that'll go on a display shelf when I'm not playing I might bother with the eyes, but for your stock infantry you'll never see them!
Could you try a modern Russian camo? Dark green digital. I would like a cheap easy way to hack it for my Imperial Guard army. Just curious how you would address those challenges
For those thinking of getting anything from Warlord they have temporarily reduced the "free shipping" threshold to £25/$40.
Oh, hey! I just saw the email land in my inbox, too... that's some good news!
"For the Emperor" outside of 40k
When I first played Bolt Action, I trier Japan. And in the list I was given I questioned "why do I need a tank when I can get more infantry-"
I like using slightly different colors for uniforms even in the same unit. Gives them that "lived in" look.

Thank you, got the Japanese starter box in my backlog from last year. Can't wait to get them painted up. Great video!

Also just showed my stepfather your result, and he was blown away. Great work again mate!

Great work as always.
Cheers bud! 😊
Thanks for the painting instruction video for the Japanese Army Infantry. I will refer to this for upcoming building of my Guadalcanal diorama!
EPIC! THANK YOU!
It looks great Sonic! Thanks for sharing this.
fantastic, been looking for a decent Japanese guide. yours is simple and fun to watch.
Great tutorial, nice one 👍🏼 another nice and easy trick is to add some static grass to their helmets for a jungle fighter look
Good tip! I'd usually reserve it for the helmets that have netting on them, but I've seen it done and it works super well. :D

very nice, will be using this for sure

Well timed for me as just finished building 70 odd Japanese infantry 👍🏻
building japanese army, thanks for the tips! Have you done videos painting vehicles/arty? truck/tanks/artillery pieces/tows
Thank you so much! Going to start a Japanese army soon! This is perfect!
I'm so grateful for this guide as I'm painting Japanese infantry now. Would you also paint their soft field caps in Khaki Grey?
Another great video.

Excellent tutorial Sonic, I will certainly look to follow this, thanks 👍😁
It may sound wierd but i am using Tamiya Wooden deck Tan color for japanese skin. It looks quite interesting.

'Amber Skin' from the new Army Painter skin tone range is a dead winner. Really easy solution there!
VERY GOOD MY FRIEND..CONGRATULACION
Very nice love it

Great tutorial. Wish I did not mess up in the end with too much Agrax xD

Just a drybrush of either Khaki or German Camo Beige will do the job!
Great tutorial.
Gracias
Put the paint on.a quick dry rush and add the wash. base up and job done.49 more to go...👍
Tenno Heika Banzai!
Do you paint the eys of your warlord mintures? If so, do you think you could talk a little about that. Thank you

Just curiouse if there a place where I can get most of the colors in one package or if I should buy the pices diffrently?
would this be the same for the SNLF???
VERY NICE, WHAT SIZE WAS THE ARMY PAINTER BRUSH DID YOU USE??
Probably would have been the Regiments brush for most of it!
I Use This Guide For My Behind Omaha Japanese Infantry.
both helmet and canteen were a bronze tone

I think, the camera is looking at your wet palette. Maybe better having it right of screen may be better? 🧐
