I have heard the older ones are the best (better built quality), i got mine like 10 years ago, what happens with the new ones is the brass colored pins that connect to the car have a tendency to come apart from the scanners board when you remove the diagnostic plugs,i like mine alot too,it works great.
Wow that Many Different codes? There were Only 20some for my Fiero & S-10 back in the day. Took up up only two pages in the Haynes manuals. Maaannnn with that many codes that could Go Wrong with those Ponys, You sure there Ain't Two Volumes of books to Order to cover all those?? LOL lol ... Once Again Very Good Helpful video. If I don't comment before hand.. To You & Yours Have a Very Merry Boxing Day.
Got an obd1 reader for my 1994 mustang gt, but funny thing is the 94-95 mustangs gts were obd1, but also had obd2 ports that weren't plugged in to anything, interesting quirk
From what I've read they were in the process of converting to OBD2's and some early cars didn't get them, the harness had the plug but it wasn't used, etc
🔔😎That looks exactly like the one I bought on clearance sale about 15 years ago for $ 7. I still have it in my electronics bag, I saw it yesterday. Don't know the brand without looking. 👍👍😎 I'm always surprised that almost nobody has heard of the KOEO/KOER test sequence. Invaluable for diagnostics. Thank you for sharing. 1990 HO T5 😎😎 93 TBird HO 94 Town Car beater 4.6 OBD1.
Hi Gary. I'm hoping you post a quick video on what you found in the book about the codes that triggered on the reader. Also, if you have time, run a check on Ruby and let us know what you found there. Great video. Thanks. Bill.
@@KASLCustoms Hi Gary. There's no hurry what so ever. My car's put away until spring, and as my shop isn't heated, I won't be doing anything to it until then. This is my do stuff in the house where it's warm time of year because, you know, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Yeah, I love Red Green. Enjoy your evening. Bill.
What's up brother?!? Hopew all is well. I've been meaning buy one of these. Decided to watch a video on the code reader tool, found yours. I decided to go ahead and buy it with your Amazon code. Enjoy that .34 cents of whatever they share. LOL I'm getting close to the $100 threshold as an Amazon affiliate. Should get my first check this year!! Only took me 2 years, LOL
🔔😎Yours has a power window motor above the brake booster? Must be a really neat windshield 😆😆😆😆 BTW you can take the OBD connector out of the holder without removing it from the shock tower.
LOL - I honestly had no idea what you were talking about at first and then I re read your comment, went back and watched my video and pissed myself laughing!! LOLOLOLOLOL! Definitely screwed that one up royally 😂
@@KASLCustoms Hi Gary. I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. As you've probably realized by now, I look for the funny in pretty much everything. Oh yeah, I lied, my car has power windows. Anyway, talk to next time. Bill.🦊😄
I just subscribed. Thank you for all of your foxbody content, it sure helps me a lot. I have a 1991 lx hatch with aluminum heads, cobra intake, equal length shorty headers and stock cam. Runs great with no check engine light until it’s at wot and goes out a couple seconds after I let off the gas pedal. I will definitely be purchasing one of these code readers. Thanks again. All the best.
Such a great video Kasl! And just in time my friend. Needed to watch this as my ‘93 Cobra for some reason started flashing the check engine light. On and off thru gears… weird. Never before until after a weekend drive recently. But I bought this lil OBD1 scanner and this vid is perfect! Here’s hoping for a successful trouble shooting sesh! 👍🏼
Good video. My 88 does not have the separate one wire plug. The one white wire with red stripe is in the bigger tester plug. I'm going to see if I can get the wire out and so I can get it on the OBD1 reader to do the test.
KASL, can you clear codes with this scanner or just pull them? Thanks for this vid it was great just like everything you post. I just ordered the unit it's on it's way🍻
Thanks so much my friend! No you can't clear codes with it but there is a procedure for doing that. Have a quick search on RUclips - there is a Ford Mechanic that has put out a video on how to do it 👍
Let me ask you something, i have a 91 and a 89 Mustang and i have one of these scanners and i love it, my question is, arent there more modern scanners for these OBD1s? ive heard of ACtron and all that and ive also heard that they really are for OBD2s but will do some OBD1 etc,you have any info on this? thank you for your time.
Noticed you don't have caster/camber plates and your car is lowered... How does it drive and how is the tire wear?? Thanks for the video, I'm gonna have to invest in one of them!!!
No I don’t and in all honesty, it hasn’t even had an alignment since it was built in 1992 😂. It rides really good and I do not have any odd ball tire wear to report. I could use a bump steer kit but it’s been lowered since 1999 so I guess I’m just used to the way it “handles” and tracks
No "69" code for you 😆🤣😂😁! I graduated from HS in 69 and have gotten a raft of shit eating grins from people through the years. Guess it's time to get a code reader and the bible for it for the 89 Fox.
I bought this scanner for $26 like 6 years ago. Best investment ever!!!
yep 100%

Thx buddy! Same to you
Thanks for doing this one buddy Amazon should give you commission for all these code readers they’re going to sell😂
hahaha I know right!
I bought myself an OBD1 to OBD2 adapter for $8 on amazon and read the codes aswell as see live PIDs while my engine is running.
Been looking for this!!! 🎯
Nice!

Valuable video Brother! I appreciate you taking the time to make it. 💯👊🏾 To bad you got the 67 code instead of the 69 you were looking for Bro! 😉😂
🤣🤣🤣. Thx buddy 👊👊
Not necessary to remove the assembly from the shock tower. Pull from the cover from the bottom, grasping the wire loom. Mine is a 1993 Ford Ranger.
Definitely using your link, thank you
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks. My 5.0 manual Tbird is giving me fits.
No problem!

Ok sounds good buddy! I’m a little tight on time these days but I’ll see what I can do 👌

That does explain a lot. My car has manual windows, maybe I can hook them up to the wipers. I'm thinking duct tape. 😀😃😄🙃

I have a 1994 Ford Escort wagon Lx that's pretty clean and this scanner helps me stay on top of diagnostics. Good video!
Nice thank you

Yessir you bet!

What is the procedure for 1993 ford ranger with a 2.3 engine with manual transmission.
Good stuff as always man! Thank you!

Can you tell me what is the difference with the engine running codes?
Let me ask you something, i have a 91 and a 89 Mustang and i have one of these scanners and i love it, my question is, arent there more modern scanners for these OBD1s? ive heard of ACtron and all that and ive also heard that they really are for OBD2s but will do some OBD1 etc,you have any info on this? thank you for your time.
Sorry I do not...
Thanks for the info
You’re welcome!
I couldn’t get mine to work on my 93 gt
Great stuff now fix that fuel
Pump Circuit lol
🤣 will do!

Ok Gary, PLEASE 3D print that cover and sell them. I'd like one. PLEASE!
That’s a great idea! I’ll put it on my list 👍
The manufacturer says this isn't made to be used on pick ups over 8500 GVW.
Now what?
You’re going to leave us hanging on the codes!?!?!
LOL sorry I can't even remember what popped up now
Checking those code flashes is NOT reliable! Too damn hard to keep up with the pauses between the flashes.
Most scanners store the codes so you can go back and check them 👍
No "69" code for you 😆🤣😂😁! I graduated from HS in 69 and have gotten a raft of shit eating grins from people through the years. Guess it's time to get a code reader and the bible for it for the 89 Fox.
