20 odd years ago this beach used to be deserted with nothing around it.I hired a motorbike from Samana,and rode it there with my then girlfriend.Was having a great time but then got held-up at gun-point by some dude who sprang out from behind a sand-dune.Was a day to remember! Beautiful place non the less and he only got away with about $50 so wasn't the end of the world

this is NOT called las Galeras which is another beach in Samana. This video is showing Cayo Levantado a small paradise island by the Samana Coast. Very much worth visiting and also another virgin beach in Samana called Playa Rincon is incredible (a river ends in the beach gorgeous). Those two are among the very best in the world.
