  • When we think of honey bees and pollination, we often think of the flowering plants in our gardens as being the primary food source for the bees. But, did you know that trees and bees have evolved into having a highly mutually beneficial relationship - each playing a critical role in each other’s survival?
Our guest presenter, Jimmy Gatt from the Alabama Beekeepers' Association, provided us with lots of great information on this relationship and about the opportunity to raise honey bees as an additional source of revenue along with Empress Splendor trees.

Loss is so unacceptable whenever I know without any doubt the positioning of these Hive nukes are bad they don't have bamboo walls blocking the cold Northern winz they don't have Hedges and large shelter belts or burms blocking the cold sucking winds.
Imagine when people start utilizing below ground greenhouses that have Adobe stem walls and tons of tropicals year-round beehives within the greenhouse.
Imagine when people start building Garden walls that have polish dugouts built into the tree posts so the beehives can be inside the large Timbers that make up the walls backbone.

Best to have one in a very large pot like the size of a dustbin. The roots can be surface aggressive in some cultivars so probs best not plant near the house. We had one reach 24 ft in the pot. It had to half sunk in the ground because when it reached about 16ft the wind blew it over.

The tap root is Hugh and will grow through the holes in the pot.
It’s crazy But the flowers are amazing
