My Dad died on December 9th of last year. He changed his plans and decided to be buried instead of cremated two days before he died. I live 1350 miles away. He has three sons and one daughter. I am a middle son, but I was the only one of his kids that showed up. I handled it all and spent $9,000 out of my pocket to honor his wishes. It took untilJune 4th, his birthday, before I broke down and cried. I called in sick to work and broke down alone. His headstone got mounted last week. I miss my father so much and there were more than him that made me a man of strength and a man that doesn’t share the pain of doing it all alone. Keep up the good workJordan.

I honestly believe it's because of an almost mass hysteria... A label of absolutely insane and self-deluded fits JP like a glove.]
This brought me to tears. When Dad died right in front of me, I realised I have been wasting so much of my life. Nihilism took over, but stoicism and prof Peterson, amongst others, helped me through. Yes, this life could be pointless, but aren’t we all capable of creating good for others (and ourselves?) I found the service of others to be the most rewarding part of life, I hope this can help you in your struggles as it did me. 🙏🏼

I'm going to be 68 in another month and I'm not done yet. Retirement is B.S. If you're still able too, keep living, keep moving forward, keep dreaming. As he says here, be who God intended you to be. It amazes how people can attack the character of Jordan Peterson and try to politicize him and put labels on him like "alt right" and all that crap. This man is truly brilliant. Intelligent. So eloquent. I wish the leaders of our world could follow his message and wisdom.
@@arikaGME CS Lewis was great. One of my favorite quotes by him "Do not by any means destroy yourself, for if you live you may yet have good fortune, but all the dead are dead like"
@@yavrum22 , your comment here is exploitative. You apparently thought it was a 'good idea' to politicize a video that has nothing to do with elevating partisan values. While you may indeed be sincere in your belief in your candidate, a little discernment on your part would go a long way.
We elect our leaders, they’re a reflection of us so we as a society must incorporate what he’s saying and then the leadership will follow. That’s the goal
Listen to the chapter in 12 rules (Audible), do what is meaningful not what is expedient, at the end of the chapter, when he describes meaning, he is very upset!
He gets so emotional when he talks about getting young men to actualize into adult men. It shows how deeply he feels this problem is afflicting so many. And yet he isn't blaming anyone. You can tell he is deeply troubled and saddened by the current situation for young men (and young women) and how difficult it has become to find a path for yourself and really become a good man or a good woman. He really is like a guardian for this generation, at least the few who will stumble upon and truly hear him
Beautifully stated. I’m 32, just finishing a pro basketball career and have struggled to give my new life meaning and responsibility. But the last minute of this video gave me Hope.
@@jerrygreene1493 Your response feels a little bit like a lure, or a trap, so you can dispute J.P's intelligence. I should remind you that the original comment also listed honesty and leadership, in addition to intellect, as traits Vivien found admirable - so why dispute just the one? If you were truly sceptical about J.P's intelligence, you wouldn't gauge it strictly on what he's said, but rather on what he's written. Go read his academic papers, or his books, if you find yourself undecided on his intellect - I promise it will deliver a far more accurate result than what you would receive from probing the youtube comment section.
@@Revion91 I have listened to dozens of his lectures. I haven't seen him string together a single useful and coherent paragraph anywhere. If you think he is intelligent, point me to something he has said in a YT lecture that you find smart and useful. Thanks. Fans call him a brilliant genius all the time but get annoyed at being tasked to prove it. That of course is the blind sheep phenomena. They love him, they don't know why.
I love reading the comments of people and all I see in them is gratitude and respect for Jordan Peterson, but I also noticed Jerry Green responding also to some other comments, trying to through poison and dirt to JP figure. How shallow and miserable is your life Jerry, what a parasite mind you have. Its so obvious that you are dead since your birth....!
@@aferditapjetra6195 Clearly people respect JP and worship him as a brilliant genius and one of the finest minds of our times. You guys are not paying attention. The guy is hugely arrogant, spewing loads and loads of useless content, preying on the gullible, sort of like a televangelist. OK he is doing it to make a living, so no criticism of him there, but start paying attention to what he actually says. Soon enough you will see through the emperor's new clothes: JP’s ‘Who Dares Say He Believes in God?’ “What our consciousness seems to be for is to encounter those things that we have not yet encountered. Those things that have not yet been brought into being. For the encounter with potential. To transform the future into the present. You have apprehension about what role your choices might make into transforming that potential into one form of actuality or another. You might make mistakes. You can get out of bed and do the things you are supposed to do..." [Thank you JP for this great wisdom in telling me I can get out of bed and do things.] And from JP FB page: “We, humans, are the only creatures that are aware of our boundaries in space and time. When we discovered time, we discovered the end of our being. That made all the difference when it came to our self-consciousness... We (the sovereign we, the we that has been around since the beginning of life) have lived in a dominance hierarchy for a long time. We were struggling for a position before we had skin, or hands, or lungs, or bones. There is little more natural than culture. Dominance hierarchies are older than trees. The part of our brain that keeps track of our position in the dominance hierarchy is therefore exceptionally ancient and fundamental. It is a master control system, modulating our perceptions, values, emotions, thoughts and actions. It powerfully affects every aspect of our Being, conscious and unconscious alike.” [So a rabbit running from a fox doesn’t understand its boundaries in space and time? So why is it running? And why doesn’t it crash into trees if it is unaware of its boundaries in space? The evolution of my brain is ancient and fundamental? Thank you so much for this credible scientific analysis of what my brain is for. And of what use is it for JP to tell us humans are smarter than animals? Every 2nd grader already knows that.]
@@cl759 I can understand. Then You should stay away from listen to JP. You probably would enjoy watching something from Bill Clinton or Hillary, or Richard Dawkins o Sam Harris, etcc......
I wish I could meet with Dr. Peterson one on one every week for a solid year and just pour my heart out to him and listen to his counsel and absorb the genius and goodwill in this great man. I want to be fathered by him.
@@jerrygreene1493 I see that you are (or were two weeks ago) very interested in extracting "something smart" that Mr. Peterson had said from the minds of his observers. I most likely won't be responding to this thread again because I have seen how you interacted with other commenters like myself and have no interest whatsoever in arguing pointlessly until one or both of us is irritated. With that being said however, I would like to state my thoughts briefly and ask for your explanation of why you feel so strongly about him and why it matters so much in five concise points -so that I can understand your point of view with as little detritus to sift through as possible. In my opinion, which is based off of observation of my environment, I think that he has been able to impact so many people positively because he seems to take interest in digging up old and deeply rooted things and then does his best to understand them better. Most people have some basic concept of everything he is talking about (per your 4th graders quip) but have not taken the time to understand the reasons for those things in themselves and in the world. I think that he comes from a place of having done his best to understand the simple fundamentals of society and human thinking as a whole, and then states them as clearly as he can so that everyone who has not taken the time and trouble to deeply investigate these things can have them articulated for them and apply them to the best of their ability -thus causing better self awareness and sensitivity to responsibility and consequences. I think you may be expecting him to be more concerned with scientific things rather than conceptual things? Is this correct? Also, have I said what I meant well or was I not clear and you would like me to clarify some thing that I was trying to say?
@@high_carbon There are two issues; JP giving stand up straight advice to people who can't figure that out for themselves, and apparently helping some people get their lives together. That is all fine. The other issue is him trying to act like a know it all intellect in politics, science, and philosophy. In those he is an embarrassment, absolutely chaotic reasoning and delusional grandeur. I would suggest the APA divest themselves from him as he fairly effectively implicates psychology as sham of fake science masquerading as an undeserving spot in academia. Here is just one sample from his new FB page, if you find anything about it useful or insightful, please clarify: "We, humans, are the only creatures that are aware of our boundaries in space and time. When we discovered time, we discovered the end of our being. That made all the difference when it came to our self-consciousness... We (the sovereign we, the we that has been around since the beginning of life) have lived in a dominance hierarchy for a long time. It is a master control system, modulating our perceptions, values, emotions, thoughts and actions. It powerfully affects every aspect of our Being, conscious and unconscious alike." [I appreciate your willingness to dig deeper into this issue and in a polite manner, however just briefly on the above paragraph. Only humans are aware of their boundaries in space and time? I guess he is stating here that humans are smarter than animals. That of course is completely pointless and useless and every second grader already knows it. Add to that it is wrong. Animals don't run in to trees or run off cliffs because of course, they know their limits in space and time. And that is just the first sentence. The rest is pure junk also. Add to that that he is so arrogant and self absorbed in every lecture, I personally cannot think of any current public figure that even remotely rivals him in being annoying. The emperor's new clothes analogy fits him pretty well.]

I can say unequivocally that I was one of the weakest people at my father's funeral, I was 17 and had no clue what was going on, I never shed a tear until the middle of the ceremony when I just exploded. as a fairly stony and emotionally secretive guy that really shocked me. All I can say is that when the day comes that my mother dies, I will be front and center for her memory.
I carried my mum in. It was the music that got me, but i was more together than the rest of my family - especially my dad, he was (and still is) broken. It's a tough fact of life, death. Peace be with you.
I swear it never fails. Someone finally comes out with original ideas, a new perspective and something different from the ages old liberal b.s weve been hearing for too long and people hate on the man. Jordan peterson is offering something besides "if it feels good than do it" and people cant take it.
As Alan Watts would say, people have a very strange reaction to a holy (fully integrated) person. They can't tell whether they are a saint or a devil. Jordan Peterson is fairly close to divine.

Got this video from my watch later library. Happy I saved it 😋 . This man is expressing what I could only describe as honey and nature doesn’t express anything sweeter. There’s nothing else or one else that compares. Love you, JP ❤ .
I love Jordan Petersen - There is so much to take in here. My wife developed cancer in June of 2018 It’s been quite an experience. I’ve spent my life in self improvement. Always Starving for more enlightenment. Nothing can compare to my own struggles and journey through life in gaining wisdom. It’s been such a blessing to have this time with her. I’ve been a sponge, in that I am enjoying every moment I have with her. Married at 17 in 1980 it’s been nearly 40 years. I’ve found there is a bitter sweet living this experience, however the bitter is wrapped in the pure essence of love. Where is the sorrow in this? The sorrow is in the potential departure which is also wrapped in an all encompassing Love for another. Reading these posts bring me joy to see the heart felt empathy and compassion that is being displayed for each other. Even though we seem as strangers we are completely connected. We are one. Every act or lack of effects the one that we are. Who can hurt another with this perspective. Love is all there is. Anything else is a resistance to it and from where you came from. My presuppositions to life: Everything happens for a reason. It’s all for my good. I chose, choose, this to experience and to expand. When I attempt to control, stress enters in. I now only let go and allow. I am amazed at the perfect order in all things. The miracles that unfold daily, as a lotus flower opening, a pedal at a time, throughout each day. Men are that they may have joy. A simple shift in perspective allows it to be so.
I’ve dodged the bullet on two potential relationships during different times in my life because I’ve listened to my consciousness. I’m so grateful to be able to use my brain as a receiver. When I allowed my light to shine from within the messages started coming and I’ve been protected from people who have turned out to be toxic. Stillness is powerful, it’s how you’re able to hear the still small voice opposed to the one that tempts is.
The emotions he's feeling communicating his message which is soley aimed at making humans better people...no actor could ever imitate this. How can people hate this man, we are crazy beings...
This man speaks directly to me, or at least it feels that way. He is able to articulate feelings and intuition that I have but have not been able to define or voice. Thank you Jordan Peterson for adding value to my life.
I wish that these words were written somewhere so that I could share them with someone I know could benefit from them. I thank God for Jordan Peterson. His teachings are immeasurably helpful!
Looking back in 2010, number 10 of 13, her 3rd daughter, I was the strongest person at my mother's funeral. I understand why they come to me now... Thanks Jordan.
My favorite thinker of our time. He has done the academic work, the labor at an incredible rate. I can’t believe how well read he is and how he has synthesized western thought into pragmatism. It was my aim to be the strongest person at my mother’s funeral, and I was and I was with her for the last year of her life until the very end. It broke me to watch her die, to be alone with her (I’m an only child), and then to be alone. But Peterson is right, it this immense suffering I have been through that has given meaning to my life. I will live my life forward in her honor. Her name was Ann.
Tremendous message of hope. We can be better for ourselves, our families and our community. Go with honor. Return with honor. Somewhere on the journey you will fall on your face, maybe a few times. Never give up, never surrender and follow your heart. Thanks JP !
I appreciate that he says we have regrets. I've always felt that anyone claiming that they have no regrets is either lying or incredibly narcissistic. I've always regretting what I've done when I stubbed my toe. 😖😩🤯😭
My dad died when I was 16. It was November 13 and it's gonna be 7 years. It was so sudden I didn't know how to react. I didn't cry but this physical pain that built inside me was huge. I'm a sikh so we burn the body, and when two days later I burnt the body in the burial site with all the ritual, I broke down in front of hundreds of people. I wanted to be strong. But this guilt inside me rushed out in forms of tears that I was unable to pay him back what he did for me. It's hard to be strong when you lose your parent and that too at the tender age of 16. It's not logical. I wanted to be the strongest in my family at his death, but I couldn't. That single day made me mature in ways I couldn't imagine.
What makes him so special to me is that beauty and truth make him cry. Profound truths are spiritually activating. And tears are for more than sorrow. He wants the best for each and every one of us and is trying to make the world a better place and the idea of that moves him to tears. Now THAT is profound! Do your best and see what happens.
Take care of yourself so that you can properly and effectively care for others. Biblical truth. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. You must first love yourself to show love to your neighbor
Giving up a heavy drug addiction right now so much pain and my mind is going crazy and the hole is deep JP I see the stories and I'm here hoping I can understand your message so I might be saved

It amazes how people can attack the character of Jordan Peterson and try to politicize him and put labels on him like "alt right" and all that crap. This man is truly brilliant. Intelligent. So eloquent. I wish the leaders of our world could follow his message and wisdom.

I've never heard Dr. Jordans By Peterson's voice so broken and full of emotion. It meaningful but carries a lot of load (I'm heart broken)
i feel like crying...
Listen to the chapter in 12 rules (Audible), do what is meaningful not what is expedient, at the end of the chapter, when he describes meaning, he is very upset!
Mr. Peterson truly believes what he says. He's an amazing man.
He really is like a guardian for this generation, at least the few who will stumble upon and truly hear him
He's a very compassionate person, which makes me even more disgusted that mainstream media and many on the left demonize him.
Beautifully stated. I’m 32, just finishing a pro basketball career and have struggled to give my new life meaning and responsibility. But the last minute of this video gave me Hope.
Jamelle Cornley got get it homie, the world needs you.
Dirty Needlez I appreciate this message from you. Truly. I’m on my way.
Sure he acts emotional, I am just not aware of anything smart he has said anywhere. Can you point to something?
He is such an honest, intelligent, and incredible leader- and when his voice broke it was so real. I hope Peterson knows how much we admire him
Can you point to something intelligent he has said? Something you did not know before he said it?
Soon enough you will see through the emperor's new clothes:
JP’s ‘Who Dares Say He Believes in God?’
“What our consciousness seems to be for is to encounter those things that we have not yet encountered. Those things that have not yet been brought into being. For the encounter with potential. To transform the future into the present. You have apprehension about what role your choices might make into transforming that potential into one form of actuality or another. You might make mistakes. You can get out of bed and do the things you are supposed to do..."
[Thank you JP for this great wisdom in telling me I can get out of bed and do things.]
And from JP FB page:
“We, humans, are the only creatures that are aware of our boundaries in space and time. It powerfully affects every aspect of our Being, conscious and unconscious alike.”
[So a rabbit running from a fox doesn’t understand its boundaries in space and time? So why is it running? And why doesn’t it crash into trees if it is unaware of its boundaries in space? The evolution of my brain is ancient and fundamental? Thank you so much for this credible scientific analysis of what my brain is for. And of what use is it for JP to tell us humans are smarter than animals? Every 2nd grader already knows that.]

He would do it. For all of us. That's the weight he carries.
The world needs more courageous men of character like this one.
Can you point to something smart JP has said in this video?
Here is just one sample from his new FB page, if you find anything about it useful or insightful, please clarify:
"We, humans, are the only creatures that are aware of our boundaries in space and time. It powerfully affects every aspect of our Being, conscious and unconscious alike."
[I appreciate your willingness to dig deeper into this issue and in a polite manner, however just briefly on the above paragraph.

Along my journey I found being able to separate the pain of "GUILT" and understand the joy of "RESPONSIBILITY" lessened my periods of darkness.
Could you elaborate on this... I feel like you just spoke to me...

It is part of my process around Religion and spirituality
Religion as I saw it used GUILT in various forms to frighten us into submission.
That GUILT sets off a negative, justification blocking self protection process.
As I let that fear of judgement emotional pain go I am better able to ask how can I learn from this mistake rather than the negative shaming
I'm better able to ask SELF how can I do better next time.
I'm better able to look at my own underlying issues. I can recognize YES Old programming attacks but usually those who laid that guilt at a tough age too were doing the best they could with the tools available.
They were often reacting from a fear based, survival mode.
Not right or wrong just the way it was.
I now have a choice to act rather than react.

That's so inspiring! And what a wonderful way to look at it. Just the determination and wherewithal to take a deeper look at responsibility for yourself and choosing how you react and respond to what life throws at you. Getting real with ourselves is a hard thing to do, and to strip away all of the erroneous pre-programming takes a lot of self awareness and courage.

I love Jordan Petersen - There is so much to take in here. My wife developed cancer in June of 2018
It’s been quite an experience.
My presuppositions to life:
Everything happens for a reason.
What a beautiful, emotionally intelligent man. I hope I meet and marry someone like Dr. Peterson some day.
"In a musical piece everything has its proper place at every level,, that speaks of heaven"

“I am indebted to my father for living and to my teacher for living well” Marcus Aurelius. Thank you, Jordan Peterson, for being our teacher.
Pritpal Singh proud of you bro , hope you heal
His voice, cadence, and the experience behind his words is almost hypnotizing.
Joy is not the absence of pain.
