  • A Maryland woman and her mother are speaking out after they experienced a harrowing and violent home invasion over the weekend. It happened at their home in East Bethesda Sunday night.

    Why show the victims when the attacker is the one that should be shown to the world? How does focusing on the victims benefit the viewing public. The public simply needs to see what the threat looks like. It's important for safety reasons. Post the perpetrator's face before us not the poor victims.

      Because they are falling in line with California and other states that don’t want to show you who is responsible for the majority of crime. It makes a culture look like it has a higher propensity for crime.
      This will become the law of the land when Harris is President.
      It is against the law for police to post mug shots for non-violent crimes. They rarely post for violent crimes in case the district attorney reduces charges.

    Why don’t they show the mugshot of the suspect? And why did they describe the criminal by age and gender but not the most obvious descriptor? What’s the effort to protect the criminal?

    My wife gets mad at me when I lock the doors during the day. She thinks I am paranoid. I told her that anybody could come walking down our street.she said who and I said anybody.Then I said There is a freeway off ramp 1 mile from here and that freeway goes all over the country and any psycoh could end up in our neighborhood and they don't have to be black either
    . We whites have more than enough psychos to go around. But having a gun is a comfort knowing I could stop an intruder who is bigger stronger then me.what ever you do get a gun and practice with it I have a 38 ruger more than enough.I am not a gun nut but I know someday it might come in handy.also develop situational awareness

      Sir, You are correct on all accounts....sadly your wife is living in the 40s or 50s. It could cost her dearly and these two ladies could have been killed. "Never happened b4.".... how many times a day do we hear those words coming from Victems and Neighbors...too many. Dead bolts, cameras, motion detectors and lights, barky dogs, pepper spray and ladies arm yourself...we are living in a real life PURGE and 2025 will be unlike anything in our History.
      FBI has some interesting stats on home invasions...40% of these crimmals enter the home thru an unlock door...or even a window.

      I do. I lock my doors to go to the garden. Anyone could walk in and I could not see them ftom the garden. At 75 I don't want to have to defend myself in my own home. I also do not open the door to anyone I don't personally know. Please be safe

    Stop answering doors for strangers. If someone you know wants to show up, ask them to call or text you to confirm it’s ok to come over. Stay vigilant.
    If someone is legitimately trying to break into your home, call the cops. If they manage to actually break through, you have the human right to protect yourself with a firearm.

To go from a top student, she was very responsible, then went on to a government job and apparently lost it and her apartment. Her phone is disconnected…I guess she was raging. My friend who saw her outside PG mall looking homeless said she looks the same physically. And when she called Toyas name, Toya ran away. When in the area, I looked for her but never saw her. This was all in 2024. Maybe she moved further up East West Highway to not be recognized. Quite a few of us frequent that Target at PG Mall. Toyas apartment was over there.

    It's ironic that when I clicked on for this video a campaign video for Harris popped up. Harris was proposing raising bail money a couple of years ago for people that were arrested for violent vandalism against property. Thereby encouraging lawlessness.

    ⁠As the person that this happened to, I have no doubt that if Latoya recieved the mental health support she clearly needed from the start then this surely wouldn’t have happened. I hope my experience brings a focus on the need of mental health services for our communities otherwise more violent incidents like this will happen.
    Our community and family have been amazing. I feel lucky it wasn’t worse.

      If the perpetrator was white, their picture would have been frozen on the screen for the entire report. They would have reported her identity, her address, employer, her kids, her parents, her siblings, and anything else they could publish to destroy her. But black privilege means you can attack someone in their home and still be the victim.

    Our town works on the premise "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away" We keep all our doors locked.. We also live in a Castle Doctrine state,, no duty to retreat. That assailant would have had a problem..briefly....

    1. Invest on getting a peephole in the front door.
    2. Always lock all the doors, especially for the single-family homes.
    3. Don't get the false sense of security because "I live in a very nice neighborhood". People can travel freely.

      As for glass backdoor, maybe to get some missile grade high resistant glass, just like a lot of windshields of airplanes. There is no need to put themselves to live in a jail when it should be the thugs who should live in jail.

    Mother: "we were in the wrong place at the wrong time" Daughter: "in our house?!". I'm 62. When I was 14 I was a thief. I stole from stores and would steal things out of unlocked cars. Since I never got caught, this escalated into me considering breaking into houses. You know why I didn't? Because there was no way I could ever know who was armed and who wasn't. But things have changed. Now DA's go after law abiding armed citizens defending themselves in their own homes. It emboldens criminals.
